Rocca di Montegrossi’s family history in their home village of Monti dates back to the year 700. Credited with the “Original Chianti” blend, they’re a benchmark producer like no other, and is one of the highest elevation sites in the entire appellation. Half of their estate is still blanketed in the ancestral forest, all of which has been farmed organically since 2006. These factors converge to create Chianti of unmatched refinement, delivering the classic sour cherry, espresso, and leather with a backbone of terra cotta and dusty loam.

For those unfamiliar with Saké let us provide some context. Fundamentally different in production and classification than the wines that we carry, Saké is produced from milled rice that is then fermented with yeasts and fungi (Known as kōji). This process leads to higher levels of residual sugar on average, with lactic acid providing movement on the palate and lessening the perception of sweetness.

New Vintage of Croze-Hermitage inbound:
Maxime Graillot

 
The Graillot clan is synonymous with the northern Rhone region of Croze-Hermitage. Led by the charismatic Alain Graillot until his passing in March, his two sons Maxime and Antoin have continued in his footsteps. Maxime farms his parcels next to his father’s estate and follows the same principals of organic farming with no herbicide or pesticide usage at all.
