The winery was founded in 1965 by Franz Künstler, who relocated his family to Germany from what is now the Czech Republic in the aftermath of World War II. Today, the estate is led by his son, Günter Künstler, a graduate of Geisenheim University whose focus on dry Riesling has helped redefine the reputation of the Rheingau for a new generation.
Based in Hochheim, Künstler farms vineyards in one of Germany’s most historically revered wine towns.
