Closeout Wines Going, Going, Almost Gone…

The bluest of blue chips in the Northern Rhône
Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas, Rhône 2008 750ML ($219.95) Was $179, Now $149, 9 bottles in stock now
Decanter 93 points
“600mm of rain in the summer, ‘never-ending rain’ according to Pierre Clape, leading to mildew in June, rot and dilution at harvest. But like many of the best 2008s, it’s surprisingly enjoyable now mature. It’s ready to drink now, with cigar box, white pepper and raspberry fruit, then sage and thyme on the palate.

Hot Deal of the Day:

Booker Vineyard 2017s

“This year’s Booker wines will more than satisfy his loyal contingent of followers, with their assertive, deeply fruited and complex, even flamboyant character.” -Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

“Eric Jensen’s Booker Vineyards continues to make a ripe, sexy, pedal-to-the-metal style of wine… As I’ve commented in the past, the wines from Eric Jensen at Booker are some of the most impressive releases coming out of California. While in the past, they relied on pure fruit and texture to impress, today they possess layered, elegant and complex characters paired with serious depth, richness and structure.”

New Library Chablis Releases

From Daniel-Etienne Defaix

Daniel-Etienne Defaix releases Chablis when he believes the wines are ready. This can mean 15 years past their release. Luckily, the time has come for the truly awesome 2006’s. They’re not really library release (despite the title of this section), but represent the current vintage on offer (and imported by Rosenthal, so you know it’s good).

Abbatucci

Arriving November 3rd

“In the colorful, picturesque city of Ajaccio, capital of Corsica, you can’t get very far without seeing the name Abbatucci. There are streets, monuments and plazas that carry the name, which is normal given that General Jean-Charles Abbatucci from Ajaccio was a hero of the French Revolution and comrade in arms of another local hero, Napoléon Bonaparte. Step into a wine bar or a restaurant there, chances are these days they’ll pour you a glass of Domaine Abbatucci. The domaine is run by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, a direct descendant of the General, who has now become a local hero of another kind for providing the local populace with its most sought-after libation.

“The 2017s from Christophe Baron show the more elegant, balanced style of the
vintage nicely while still showing plenty of depth and concentration.
These are singular, gorgeous wines that could come from nowhere else.”
–Jeb Dunnuck

2017 Cayuse Wines Arriving November 6th

Cayuse Vineyards Camaspelo, Walla Walla Valley 2017 750ML ($149.95) $119 pre-arrival special, only 6 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 95 points
“Coming from the En Cerise and Cailloux vineyards, the 2017 Camaspelo doesn’t match the stunning 2016 but still offers a gorgeous perfume of red and black currants, toasted spices, flowery incense, and green tobacco that develops nicely with time in the glass.
