Wine Enthusiast 100 points
“If sunshine could be bottled it would be this. Aromas of fresh succulent stone fruit, a hint of yeast, citrus blossoms and notes of quince on the nose. The mousse is creamy and light with baked red apples, blood orange zest, white grapefruit, sticky caramel and layered salinity with a mouthwatering finish. It will bring a smile to your lips.”

Quintessa Red, Rutherford, Napa Valley 2022 750ml $235 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Decanter 99 points
“Such an incredible wine here – one of the stars of the September releases. Smells amazing, cooling blueberries with fragrant blackcurrants, edges of florality – totally inviting scents. Full and filling in the mouth, this is ample with such a layered effect, super vertical and elongated. Tight and a little tense but it really works – such balance between black fruit, dried herbs, high acidity and a profound structure. Refined and beautifully presented. So much life, so much energy – this is pure class. A wine you don’t want to put down. Feels hands off despite such concentration and power. Ends salty with sticky liquorice, mint and cooling wet stones. You could definitely drink this now but it will age too! 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot complete the blend. One of the final few vintages with Rodrigo Soto at the helm – he stepped down last year to concentrate on his family project Far Mountain in Sonoma Valley which is worth following. Winemaker Rebekah Wineburg.”

“Light straw yellow. On the nose there are aromas of white summer flowers, citrus and a discreet nuttiness, as well as a certain herbaceousness. On the palate it has a pleasantly slender structure with a fine mousse, apple notes and nice length. There is a certain salinity on the finish.”

“The 2019 Branas Grand Poujeaux, cropped at 39hL/ha, has a delightful bouquet of beautifully defined black cherry, raspberry and light cedar aromas that gently unfurl in the glass. Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste ‘Lacoste-Borie’, Pauillac 2019 750ml $41.90 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 92 points
“The 2019 Lacoste-Borie was impressive as a barrel sample sent to my home last spring. Now in bottle, it has a vivacious, quite floral, almost Margaux-like bouquet that bursts from the glass, featuring raspberry, rooibos and black currant aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with good concentration, a little spicier than I remember and a little softer in the finish, yet with good length and admirable harmony. It should drink nicely after a couple of years. 14.3% alcohol.”

Chateau Poujeaux, Moulis-en-Medoc 2019 750ml $49 special, 5 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 94 points
“The 2019 Poujeaux has a very delineated, focused bouquet of blackberry, cedar, mint and light tea leaf scents, one of the most complex I have encountered from this great estate in recent years. The medium-bodied palate is fresh, vibrant and grippy, with slightly chalky tannins and a saline, persistent finish. Quite structured and broody, this Moulis deserves ample time in bottle.”

Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou, Saint Julien 2019 750ml $41.90 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 92 points
“The 2019 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou comes from 25 hectares on the western part of the appellation (10 hectares currently being re-planted) with declassified La Croix and Ducru Beaucaillou. It has a very focused bouquet of black fruit infused with graphite/pencil lead scents, a touch of brine emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture that belies a firm backbone. Quite stern at the moment – maybe it’s just closed up as the winter descends – but I admire its marine-tinged finish. Very fine.”

Château de Saint Cosme Hominis Fides Gigondas Blanc 2023 750ml $44.50 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Yohan Castaing-Wine Advocate 92-94 points
“One of the most fervent supporters of the Clairette and the new appellation of Gigondas Blanc, Louis Barruol, from Chāteau de Saint Cosme, crafted an intense, complex and lively inaugural 2023 Hominis Fides Blanc, revealing aromas of white fruits, herbs, pear, spices and chalk. Medium to full-bodied, delicately juicy and round, framed by bright acids and a chalky spine, it’s perfectly balanced, with a fresh, ethereal and mouthwatering finish. Crafted from Clairette planted in 2016 in the lieu-dit Hominis Fides on sandy, chalky soils, it was vinified and matured for 10 months on the lees. Kudos.”

Weiser-Kuenstler Wolfer Sonnenlay Riesling Kabinett, Mosel 2024 750ml $36 special, 3 bottles in stock now
Mosel Fine Wines 93 points
“The 2024er Wolfer Sonnenlay Riesling Kabinett was made from fruit harvested at low 80°s Oechsle and was fermented down to barely fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (39 g/l). This is nicely backward and driven by citrusy fruits, white flowers, and minty herbs. The wine proves beautifully delineated and elegant on the palate and leaves a remarkably elegant feel in the long finish. This is a gorgeous and beautifully delineated Kabinett in the making. The aftertaste is citrusy, precise, and incredibly long.”

Weiser-Kuenstler Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Spätlese, Mosel 2024 750ml $59 special, 3 bottles in stock now
Mosel Fine Wines 94 points
“The 2024er Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling Spätlese was made from fruit harvested at approx. 90° Oechsle on largely un-grafted vines still trained on single pole and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (62 g/l). This offers a beautiful nose of white peach, gooseberry, mint, cream, apricot blossom, and smoke. The wine is gorgeously engaging on the palate and leaves a superb feel of fruits in the long and engaging finish. The aftertaste is packed with succulent fruity flavors and minerals. This is a gorgeous Spätlese in the making, which is both light-footed and intense.”

Brovia Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $69 special, 23 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 95 points
“On a shortlist of “annata” wines to buy from Piedmont this year is the Brovia 2019 Barolo. Made from a blend of fruit from Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, this wine delivers a very sharp and chiseled performance that puts a priority on directness, freshness and length. This pretty wine has a pronounced fruity side and a mineral side, and these two parts converge beautifully. There are hints of dried mint and licorice on the close of this must-have wine. 25,000 bottles were produced.”

James Suckling 96 points
“Aromas of ripe berries with dark mushrooms, wet earth and some tar. It’s full-bodied with creamy and chewy tannins that are polished and rather bold, but still held back. The finish is very long and caressing, if a little austere. From organically grown grapes. Needs four or five years to soften. Try in 2025.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 93 points
“The 2018 Barolo Ravera is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Gravel, smoke, cured meats, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol emerge, but only with quite a bit of reticence. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a good bit of brawn. It will be interesting to see if the fruit emerges from behind the tannins.”

Luigi Baudana Serralunga, Barolo DOCG 2020 750ml $59 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Wine Enthusiast 94 points
“This Barolo exudes an alluring and enigmatic aroma highlighted by black cherry and warmed black currants accompanied by notes of black pepper, licorice root, anise, and fennel. The wine’s nose is a captivating kaleidoscope, with fruit, herbs and earthy notes each taking their turn with every swirl of the glass. On the palate, it is mouth-filling and rich, yet structured, with notes of plum and black raspberry enveloped by firm tannins and a pronounced earthy quality that begs to be paired with roasted meats, mushrooms, or umami-focused dishes. This wine is a true embodiment of the powerful and age-worthy Barolo wines that have made Serralunga d’Alba famous. Drink Now – 2045.”

Delas Freres Cornas Chante Perdrix 2019 750ml $69 special, 32 bottles in stock now
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 92-94 points
“Powerful, mineral- and spice-accented aromas of ripe black/blue fruits, candied flowers, olive and allspice. Supple and energetic on the palate, offering bitter cherry, blueberry and fruitcake flavors that tighten up slowly with air and show fine delineation. The cherry note drives a long, spicy finish that’s given shape by fine-grained, even tannins. There’s a quite graceful quality here that defies the old stereotype of Cornas being necessarily rustic.”

Delas Freres Cote Rotie Seigneur de Maugiron 2020 750ml $99 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 94-95 points
“Saturated ruby-red. Deeply pitched dark berry, cherry liqueur, licorice and woodsmoke scents show fine clarity and acquire oak spice and floral pastille qualities with air. Juicy and expansive on the palate, offering intense blackberry, cherry-vanilla, fruitcake and salty olive flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of spicy cracked pepper. Shows excellent depth and power; finishes smoky and very long, with youthfully gripping tannins sneaking in late.”

Delas Freres Hermitage Les Bessards 2019 1.5L $449 special, 4 magnums in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 99 points
“My favorite release from this estate is consistently their Les Bessards Hermitage, and their 2019 is no exception. Coming from the western part and pure broken granite soils on the west side of this magical hill, it sports a dense purple hue to go with a brilliant perfume of cassis, graphite, scorched earth, burning embers, spring flowers, and peppery herbs. Incredibly complex, layered, and nuanced, with classic Hermitage characteristics, it still stays firmly planted in the ripe, sunny, sexy vintage. Full-bodied, concentrated, and structured on the palate, it has a wealth of tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. This is pure Hermitage magic that needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years and will evolve for 20-30 years in cold cellars. Hats off to the team at Delas for another incredible wine.”

Delas Freres Hermitage Les Bessards 2020 750ml $249 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 97-98 points
“Inky violet. Displays assertive aromas of blackcurrant, cherry-cola and violet, along with olive, smoked meat and vanilla nuances that gain strength with aeration. Vibrant, focused and appealingly sweet, offering intense, mineraldriven black and blue fruit, floral pastille and smoky bacon flavors that become deeper and spicier as the wine opens up. The floral note comes back strong on the impressively long, penetrating finish, which features youthfully chewy.”

Delas Freres Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes 2020 750ml $99 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 94-96 points
“Inky ruby. Smoke- and mineral-accented black and blue fruits, violet, licorice and an olive nuance on the deeply perfumed nose. Stains the palate with intense cherry, blueberry and fruitcake flavors that are sharpened by a spicy touch of cracked pepper. Youthfully chewy tannins frame an impressively long, penetrating finish that leaves candied dark berry and floral pastille notes behind. These are still young days for this wine but, as usual, it already screams ‘Hermitage’.”

Joe Czerwinski-Wine Advocate 99 points
“Continuum’s 2019 Proprietary Red is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot, all from the estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Aged in two-thirds new French oak, with the balance in second or third-use barrels and a single concrete amphora, it’s remarkably dark in hue, a deep, saturated purple in the glass. On the nose, it’s floral and herbal yet fruit-driven, with violets, sage and bay leaf adding nuance to black cherries, while the palate is full-bodied, plush and silky. There’s an enticing yin-yang to the interplay between high-toned herbals and bass notes of dark chocolate in this dense, concentrated effort that finishes lush and long. It’s a magnificent wine that should drink well for at least two decades. Drink: 2025-2045.”

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate 100 points

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the nose delivers a powerful perfume of cherry pie, blackberry preserves and baked plums, followed by suggestions of red roses, cast-iron pan, underbrush and unsmoked cigars, plus wafts of licorice and oolong tea. Medium to full-bodied, the black fruit and exotic spice layers flow so gracefully over the palate, textured by plush tannins and lifted with seamless freshness, finishing epically long and achingly fragrant.
