“Crowley Vineyards”

According to the winery themselves, “2021 was a vintage defined largely by heat spikes and late rain. Each element left an indelible impression on the wines and combined for a unique yin and yang that has the wines both deft and bold, intense and spare, and full of intrigue that only the magic of vintage variation can provide.”

Crowley Four Winds Pinot Noir 2019 750ml $49 special, 35 bottles available
Winery Note “In the glass this wine shines translucent red with amber hued edges. Herbs and dried flowers greet the nose, then give way to black cherry and watermelon. As it opens up, traces of pencil shavings give this wine incredible aromatic intrigue.”

Crowley La Colina Pinot Noir 2021 750ml $49 special, 36 bottles available
Winery Note “The 2021 La Colina introduces the results of a technique that brings our Pinots ever closer to the refined aim we aspire to…maximum polish with a searing terroir presence. Pumpover cap treatment during fermentation (much like a pour-over coffee experience) delivers delicate but powerful fruit essences.
“Domaine Drouhin”Drouhin Roserock Zephirine Pinot Noir 2019 750ml $59 special, 18 bottles availableWine Advocate97 Points “The 2019 Pinot Noir Zéphirine is so expressive this vintage! Matured for 14 months in 20% new oak, it has a pure fragrance of blueberries and lilac, aniseed and earth, gaining aromatic nuance and depth with time in the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate begins with bursts of acidity and a flourish of spices that glide seamlessly through the mouth for an incredibly persistent, floral finish.”

Lambert Clos Mazurique Saumur Rouge 2021 750ml $21.90 special, 36+ bottles availableLambert Clos Mazurique Saumur Rouge 2021 12 bottle case for $236 special [$19.67 per bottle]
Vinoplnote Note “100% cabernet franc. These single vineyard wines from Arnaud Lambert get farmed with biodynamic techniques and are certified organic. This single vineyard has sandy topsoils, creating a fresher aromatic red wine. Notes of black currant and wild strawberries, a subtle hint of tobacco and pimenton paprika. This is a wine for Spring food.”

“Pra”
Cantina Pra Soave Classico Otto 2021 750ml $18 special, 24 bottles available
James Suckling 92 Points “Quite refreshing and mineral with lots of green and white fruit. Stony nectarine and green-apple aromas. Pure and fresh with a textured, medium-bodied palate, showing some mineral and limey fruit. Gastronomic and delicious.”

Cantina Pra Soave Classico Staforte 2019 750ml $24 special, 12 bottles available
Vinoplnote “A pale yellow color, its bouqet bursting with notes of flowers (hawthorn and jasmine) and yellow fresh fruits (drupe, peach and apricots). On the palate, the wine is medium bodied and flavoursome, full of fruit, with clear mineral notes.”

Cantina Pra Valpolicella Morandina 2020 750ml $24 special, 12 bottles available
Vinoplnote “This is a lighter style of Valpolicella that features grapes dried for 20 days followed by stainless steel fermentation and 6 months of oak aging.”Re-ArrivalsGasparini Asolo Prosecco Superiore Nv 750 $16 special, 36 bottles available
James Suckling 92 Points “Lots of initial froth here, which takes a while to subside and allow the lovely lemon and lemon blossom aromas to rise out of the glass. There are hints of licoricy chalk here, too. On the rather dense palate, the chalk turns to fresh cream and the lemon is absorbed into the creamy mineral texture with enough fizz to keep the sparkle up. Lovely, enduring and creamy yet biting finish. This is very fine Prosecco. Drink now.”
Special: New Arrival SaleThe Superlative Sherries of Equipo Navazos
Equipo Navazos was born out of a group of friend’s passion to share the authentic, traditional wines of Jerez with each other. They select special casks of sherry from the most prestigious bodegas in the region to age. When their “Bota de No 7” release was declared the best Spanish wine of 2008 by one of Spain’s top wine magazines, their small club became an overnight phenomenon with accolades from top critics like Robert Parker (see reviews below).

If you’re a sherry afficionado these should appeal to you immediately, but if you’re a novice there’s no better place to start than with these top notch bottlings.

We’re kicking off the arrival of these amazing sherries with a sale…

Equipo Navazos #100 Bota Manzanilla Pasada 500ml $99 Special, 12 bottles available
[$94.05 at 5% discount][$89.10 at 10% discount]
Robert Parker 97 Points “The next of the single-cask Manzanilla Pasada (80, 60, 50, 40 and 20) is the NV La Bota de Manzanilla Pasada 100 Botas NO, selected from three butts (botas, in plural) to have more volume of the wine number 100. It’s a bottling that always had more demand than supply. So, they made more bottles—2,700 half-liter ones and some larger formats. It was bottled in October 2020. Like in previous bottlings, it’s bottled at 16.5% alcohol at an estimated average age of 15 years, the first 10 years under flor and the subsequent five with the barrels fully topped up, following an oxidative aging. This has more concentration and extract than the 110 I tasted next to it, but I favored the elegance and finesse of that other one. Still, it’s a stratospheric wine, an explosion of concentration, flavors and minerality, a little more oxidative.”

Equipo Navazos #110 Bota Manzanilla Pasada 750ml $69 special, 12 bottles available
[$65.55 at 5% discount][$62.10 at 10% discount]
Robert Parker 98 Points “The new bottling of the extraordinary saga of old Manzanilla Pasada 10, 30, 59 and 90 is the NV La Bota de Manzanilla Pasada 110 Capataz Cabo, from a solera filled with wine from Sanlúcar, mostly from the Pago Miraflores, that averages 10 years under flor and a further five years topped up with wine taken from all or most of the barrels in the solera. This bottling has resulted in a very balanced wine with intensity, freshness, complexity and drinkability, very difficult attributes to combine. This is the most complex and nuanced of Manzanilla Pasada before turning into Amontillado. It has gobsmacking precision and purity, defined and clean, laser cut like a diamond. This could be the most elegant and precise of all the bottlings of this wine. Cuts like a knife? No, cuts like a scalpel!”

Equipo Navazos #85 Bota De Fino Amontillado 750ml $69 special, 12 bottles available
[$65.55 at 5% discount][$62.10 at 10% discount]
Robert Parker 96+ Points
“The extraordinary NV La Bota de Fino 85 “Un fino que va para amontillado…” is not a wine from Jerez but from Montilla-Moriles in the province of Cordova, an appellation where the majority of vines are Pedro Ximénez and the wines produced are similar to Jerez wines. In fact, Amontillado means “in the style of Montilla,” because the style originated there … Produced exclusively from Pedro Ximénez grown in the white chalk soils of the Montilla ridge and hand-harvested at 15% alcohol, #85 sports an average wine age of 12 to 14 years, with a bottled alcohol level of 16% owing to a slow oxidation that marks the onset of the amontillamiento process. A cousin of sorts to the manzanilla pasada “Capataz Cabo” (see La Bota #110), this bottling offers the brisk, direct, salty freshness of a fino alongside the more mysterious murmurings of an amontillado on a frame of impressive concentration and tunneling length. [NOTE: While “fino amontillado” is not allowed on the label, the phrase “un fino que va para amontillado” is utilized to capture the wine’s spirit.] Bottled in October 2018.”

Equipo Navazos #117 Bota De Amontillado Nv 750ml $79 Special, 12 bottles available
[$75.05 at 5% discount][$71.10 at 10% discount]
Wine Advocate 96 Points
“The NV La Bota de Amontillado Montilla 117 is a new Amontillado from Montilla-Moriles that was never bottled before. Selected from the cellars of Pérez-Barquero, the wine is between 25 to 30 years of average age, not fortified but bottled at 20% alcohol from pure concentration from evaporation, as the Fino that is the base for this wine was never fortified, which is the tradition in Montilla. It’s a medium-age Amontillado with textbook characteristics and the evolution of the Fino Amontillado but with some 10 to 12 years more. It’s nutty, pungent, intense and sapid, with a saline, iodine twist. This is a bottling from the summer 2022.”

Equipo Navazos #109 Bota De Amontillado Nv 375ml $99 special, 10 bottles available
[$94.05 at 5% discount][$89.10 at 10% discount]
Wine Advocate 98 Points
“The NV La Bota de Amontillado Bota Punta 109 is a very old wine they selected from the cooperative of Trebujena that had never been bottled before. The cooperative was created in 1970, but one of the members had these butts from before; their history was really unknown, but the wine has a profile of coastal Amontillado (from Sanlúcar or Trebujena) with less glycerin, sharp and saline, not as sharp or as bitter as the iconic NPI but with crazy numbers—alcohol, acidity, dry extract and everything. It’s very intense but very balanced. An amazing wine that should live forever. It was bottled into 1,200 half bottles (one bota) in October 2021.”

Equipo Navazos #108 Bota De Oloroso Nv 375ml $119 special, 12 bottles available
[$113.05 at 5% discount][$107.10 at 10% discount]
Robert Parker 97 Points
“As they run out of 98 pretty quickly, they soon bottled a similar NV La Bota de Oloroso Bota NO 108, another butt from the same group, which has a more civilized nose, with hints of orange and somehow gentler (relatively speaking) and polished. Each barrel is different and the wines are so old, so this specific one seems to have a softer personality but is still pungent and powerful. These wines, as they are aged in Trebujena, cannot be labeled as sherry, but in the future that should change. They filled 1,200 half bottles in October 2021.”

Wine spectator #1 wine of the year 2021!
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Points “The flagship 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot brought up in 40% new French oak. With an essence of Cabernet-like character in its darker currants, green tobacco, cedar, graphite, and floral aromas and flavors, this gorgeous wine is full-bodied and has bright yet integrated acidity, polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s just gorgeously put together and a magical, flawless wine. It’s going to take a decade to hit maturity but will evolve for 40-50 years in cold cellars. It is as good as it gets in classic, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon!”
James Suckling 100 Points “This is incredible on the nose, offering hot stones, blackcurrants, iodine and wet earth. Full-bodied with a tight center palate, then it opens with a tannin structure that is weightless and spreads across the palate. Totally integrated on the palate. This is a magic-carpet wine. Really incredible. One of the reference points for the vintage. Drinkable now and please try a bottle, but it’s one for the cellar.”
Wine Advocate 99+ Points “Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Dominus slowly emerges from the glass with profound notes of blackcurrant cordial, ripe black plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake with hints of violets, star anise, cracked black pepper, raspberry leaves and pencil lead, plus a touch of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers impactful black fruit layers, creating a beguiling sense of richness that is beautifully countered by invigorating freshness and great poise, framed by super ripe, plush tannins and beautiful tension, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note and, finally, lots of mineral sparks. For all that it is at the moment, one cannot help but feel that this 2018 is holding something back. Give it a good five years in bottle, at least, and then get set for what I suspect will be a mind-blowing transformation over the next 30 years+.”

Dominus Estate Napa 2019 750ml $319 special, 14 bottles available
Lisa Perrotti-Brown 100 Points “Composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Dominus was harvested from September 29 to October 10. It was aged in 40% new oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose slowly unfurls to unveil beguiling floral notes of candied violets and rose oil over a core of crème de cassis, blackberry pie, and plum preserves, giving way to notions of licorice, Indian spices, iron ore, and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with taut, muscular black fruit layers, intertwined with gorgeous floral and exotic spice accents, and framed by firm, finely grained tannins with seamless freshness, finishing long and mineral-laced. Tightly coiled with so much latent energy waiting to explode, this is a spectacular expression of the vintage and Napanook vineyard. Still tightly coiled, give it a good 6-7 years in the cellar before broaching, and allow it a few hours in a decanter if consumed before 2032.”
Wine Advocate 98 Points “The 2019 Dominus is blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged in 40% new French oak. Impressively dark-hued in the glass, it yields scents of cherries and cassis on the nose—or is it black cherries and redcurrants? Subtle notes of mocha, pencil shavings and almost Graves-like earthiness wind through the concentrated, medium to full-bodied palate, giving it a sense of savory gravitas, while the finish is silky and long, leaving a lingering residue of soft tannins and mouthwatering freshness.”

Dominus Estate Napa 2013 750ml $619 special, 5 bottles available
Robert Parker 100 Points
“The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins. This is a 30- to 40-year wine and a profound effort from this famous vineyard in Yountville. Drink it over the next 40+ years.”
Vinous 100 Points “The 2013 Dominus overwhelms all the senses with its magnificent overall balance and towering intensity. Deep and nearly impenetrable in the glass, the 2013 boasts off the charts dry extract and overall power. Violets, smoke, black cherries, menthol, incense, crème de cassis and dark spices are some of the many signatures that take shape in the glass. Even better in bottle than it was in barrel, the 2013 is utterly magnificent. This is a remarkably vivid, nuanced wine considering its sheer size.”

Domaine Ferrand Chateauneuf Du Pape 2018 750ml $49 special, 10 bottles available
James Suckling 96-97 Points “There’s a lot to like here in 2018. Braval has made a very composed, innately balanced and beautifully drinkable Châteauneuf. The nose has attractive red and purple flowers and wild berries that run from red to black and a gently smoky, flinty edge. The palate has a sleek, supple feel, delivered so purely. The terroir has balance and finesse at Ferrand and Braval delivers it faithfully. This is a beautiful thing to taste and will be fine on release, though it will also age very well.”

Valcombe Ventoux Rose Epicure 2020 750ml $18 special, 11 bottles available
Rosenthal Wine Merchant note “Chateau Valcombe Ventoux Rosé L’Epicure: The Rosé is vinified via the direct press method from a blend of Grenache Noir (60%), Cinsault (20%), Carignan (10%) and a touch of Clairette (10%). Interestingly, the vines for the Rosé are of an average age of 40 years. This is a completely dry Rosé. Organic.”

St Damien Vacqueyras 2021 750ml $24 special, 36+ bottles available available
Jeb Dunnuck 94-96 Points “The 2020 Gigondas Les Souteyrades is more structured, with notable acidity as well as tannins. Full-bodied aromas and flavors of blackberries, cassis, ground pepper, and violets give way to a rich, concentrated, focused Gigondas that’s going to benefit from a handful of years in the cellar. All of these 2020 barrel samples are brilliant.”

Pesquie Cuvee Artemia Ventoux 2017 750ml $39 special, 28 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck
94 Points “A blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache that saw roughly 20% stems and a year in 50% new, larger format oak, the 2017 Artemia has a Côte Brune-like perfume of dark fruits, smoked meats, black olives, and chocolate. Full-bodied, smoky, meaty, and powerful, it’s another rock star of a Syrah from the Chaudière family that has incredible character.”

Pesquie Cuvee Ascensio Ventoux 2016 750ml $79 special, 3 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck95 Points “Mostly Grenache (5% Syrah) made with 30% stems, brought up all in concrete, the 2016 Ventoux Ascensio sports an inky purple color as well as sensational notes of blackberries, plums, licorice, violets, and crushed rocks. It’s deep, full-bodied, pure, and primordial, with ample tannin and a great finish. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age but is blockbuster stuff.”

Domaine Gourt De Mautens Vaucluse IGP 2016 750ml $119 special, 6 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points “As to the red, the 2016 Vaucluse reminded me of the 2007 with its incredible opulence, sweetness of fruit, and flamboyant style. Awesome black raspberry and strawberry fruit characteristics all intermix with notes of incense, white and black pepper, fruit cake, plums, garrigue, and Asian spices on the nose. Full-bodied, deep, and concentrated on the palate, it doesn’t pull any punches and the sweet fruit scale (I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a kiss of residual sugar here), yet has beautiful purity, no hard edges, and a fabulous, clean, dry finish. It took plenty of air to show at its best and will benefit from just short-term cellaring. It’s one of the sexiest wines in the vintage and will keep for a decade.”

Domaine Gourt De Mautens Vaucluse IGP 2015 1.5L $199 special, 3 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points “The Chambolle-Musigny of the Rhône, the 2015 IGP Vaucluse from Jerome Bressy is a totally sensational blend of 50% Grenache and the balance a mix of Mourvèdre, Carignan, Counoise, Vaccarèse, Cinsault, Syrah, and Terret Noir (we’re getting close to all the varieties). Aged in a mix of concrete tanks, foudre, demi-muids, and barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered, this naked beauty has just about everything you could want from a bottle of wine.”

Sequel Syrah Columbia Valley 2018 1.5L $128 Special, 3 Bottles Available
Vinous 95 Points “The 2018 Syrah Sequel is one of the greatest editions of this wine that I have tasted. The downright soft texture entices as toasty oak wraps around a gorgeous core of creme de violette, mocha, allspice, bull’s blood and shades of creosote on the palate. This finishes exceedingly long. A dense and refined Syrah that is only starting to fully hit its stride.”

Pedestal Merlot Columbia Valley 2018 1.5L $135 Special, 2 Bottles Available
Vinous 96 Points “Long Shadows has crafted a beautiful new Right Bank style 2018 Merlot Pedestal, which is nearly all Merlot (82%) with smaller portions of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Once on the nose this shows an intoxicating bouquet of black currant jelly, espresso bean and shades of black licorice candy. The mouthfeel captured here is exquisite as the Merlot seamlessly glides across the mid-palate delivering a decadent core of dark fruits, black licorice, black peppercorn and espresso ground tones. Finishing very long, this is already a beautifully evolved wine that will improve with an hour in the decanter.”

Pirouette Red Wine Columbia Valley 2018 1.5L $135 Special, 2 Bottles Available
Vinous 95 Points “The 2018 Red Wine Pirouette blends 68% Cabernet Sauvignon with 22% Stone Tree Vineyard Merlot, and 10% Dionysus Vineyard Petit Verdot. The wine was aged 22 months in 85% new French oak prior to bottling. Aromatically beautiful, you are greeted to black rose petals and blackberry compote tones that mingle with wintergreen and chocolate covered espresso bean accents. Deep and concentrated in the mouth, with fantastic flavor density and tension, this finishes long with black fruits, loamy soils and minerals. Enjoy this texturally-beautiful Left Bank inspired Washington wine over the next twenty years to come.”

Shafer Cabernet Hillside Select 2018 1.5L $719 special, 1 bottle available
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Points “Incredible purity and precision, as well as opulence, define the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select, and this is as good as any Cabernet Sauvignon in the world today. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as a thrilling bouquet of pure crème de cassis, black raspberries, spring flowers, lead pencil shavings, and an incredible minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, seamless texture, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. This is classic 2018 Napa Valley with its purity, freshness and precision as well as sensational concentration and perfectly integrated acidity, tannins, and alcohol. It delivers pleasure today yet warrants a solid 4-5 years of bottle age and is going to be a 30- to 40-year wine.”
Wine Advocate 98+ Points “Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select displays a deep garnet-purple color. It charges out of the gate with bold crème de cassis, blueberry pie and black cherry preserves notes, plus hints of smoked meats, fragrant earth and tar, with a fragrant waft of violets and Provence herbs. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with muscular black fruits, supported by a solid foundation of firm, grainy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing long with an enticing herbal lift.”

Bond Estates Melbury Napa 2010 1.5L $849 Special, 1 bottle available
Robert Parker 98+ Points “From a higher site in the Pritchard Hill area, the 2010 Melbury appears to be prodigious, but is currently extremely backward. My notes indicate it should be forgotten for 7-10 years. With coaxing, this structured 2010 offers up aromas of blueberry liqueur, black currants, charcoal and spring flowers. It possesses gorgeous purity and remarkable incremental richness, but it is quite brooding and backward. Everything it needs for a great future is present, but patience will definitely be required.”

Sine Qua Non Into The Dark Grenache 2004 1.5L $1,399 special, 1 bottle available
Robert Parker 99 Points “2004 Into the Dark: This absolutely magnificent wine is a blend of 84% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah and 1% Viognier, with most of it emerging from the estate’s 11 Confessions Vineyard. It still has a very opaque ruby/purple color, along with a sweet nose of graphite, wood smoke, spice box, white chocolate, kirsch and creme de cassis. Still quite infantile in terms of its development, the wine is full-bodied, with a 45- to 50-second finish. Another 2-3 years of cellaring will be beneficial, and it is certainly capable of lasting 10 or more years.”

Harlan Estate Proprietary Red 2009 1.5L $2099 Special, 1 bottle available
Antonio Galloni 97 Points “The 2009 Harlan Estate is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this hugely delicious wine. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034”.We’re open 10 AM – 6 PM daily
