Marc Hébrart
Marc Hébrart wines emphasizedbalance over power, and while there is plenty of complexity in his bottlings, they’re always drinkable and delightful. Peter Liem, author of the authoritative book Champagne, writes, “Hébrart’s wines have a broad appeal: if you like to think about your wines, they’re intellectually engaging enough to satisfy you; on the other hand, if you’re just looking to drink, they’re simply delicious. The wines are full and generous without being weighty, complex and soil-driven without being demanding. Overall, the entire range is of consistently high quality, and represents excellent value for the money.”
We’re proud to carry a wide selection of Hebrart’s wines, including the limited non-sparkling Coteaux Champenois and the impeccable NVs Reverve and Selection bottlings
Champagne Piollot
Champagne Piollot is produced in partnership by Roland Piollot (from his father’s lovingly tended old massale selection vines) and Dominique Moreau (owner and winemaker of Marie-Courtin). We were impressed by the value and supreme drinkability of these Champagnes. These are forward drinking and super easy to approach, showing style and flair from the Aube region. As of 2018, Roland and Dominique have been joined by their daughter, Jeanne.
Frederic Savart
“These rich, vinous Champagnes convey the essence of what Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Ecueil and Villers-aux-Noeuds are all about.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Frederic Savart consistently crafts impressive, compelling Champagnes. There’s a house style to them (vinous, textural, mineral) that’s immediately recognizable, but the bottlings show vivid uniqueness that allows for easy differentiation. We’re pleased to offer a broad selection of the Savart wines, from the (delicious) entry-level L’Overture, to the profound single vineyard wines—and all at fantastic pricing. These are some of the most stunning wines we offer every year and they always move quickly (especially during our three-day sale).

Marc Hébrart Cuvée de Réserve Premier Cru Brut, Champagne NV 750ml Displayed Price: $54.50, that’s $51.78 at 5% off and $49.05 at 10% off, 23 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 90 points “[Reviewed Mar 2024] The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve is a tasty entry-level offering from Marc Hébrart. Green orchard fruit, flowers, chalk and mint give this airy, high-toned Champagne its bright aromatic profile. The resonance of Pinot Noir comes through on the mid-palate and into the finish. This is a gorgeous NV Champagne. Dosage is 7 grams per liter.”
Hebrart Brut Sélection Premier Cru, Champagne NV 750ml Displayed Price: $69, that’s $65.55 at 5% off and $62.10 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 91 points “[Reviewed Nov 2023] The NV Brut Sélection is a blend from Mareuil-sur-Ay, Avenay-Val-d’Or and Bisseuil. Aromatic and vibrant, the Brut Sélection impresses with its balance and sensuality. Lemon confit, white flowers, apricot, mint, chamomile and plum meld together in an understated, classy Champagne ready to go now. I loved it.”
Piollot Pere et Fils Colas Robin Pinot Blanc Brut Nature, Champagne 2017 750ml Displayed Price: $59, that’s $56.05 at 5% off and $53.10 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “This wine comes from the parcel named Val Colas Robin. Roland’s father, Robert Piollot, cleared and planted this vineyard using the selection massale method in 1955. At this time, the majority of other growers were ripping up Pinot Blanc in favor of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but Robert always cared for the favorite local grape. Colas Robin is aged 80% in steel tanks and 20% in barrels, then kept on the lees for five years before release. Like all of the Champagnes from Piollot, the wine is disgorged non-dosé.”
Piollot Pere et Fils ‘MePetit’ Brut Nature, Champagne 2018 750ml Displayed Price: $69, that’s $65.55 at 5% off and $62.10 at 10% off, 13 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “Although Pinot Meunier is widely planted in the Marne Valley, it is relatively rare in the Aube. Only a mere 6% of the Piollot family vineyards are planted to Pinot Meunier, but they decided to highlight this grape with the Mepetit vineyard in Polisot starting in 2015. Aging in oak barrels gives this wine a uniquely complex texture and profile that is not to be missed. The wine is aged on the lees for four years before release, and like all of the Champagnes from Piollot, it’s disgorged non-dosé.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92 points “[Disgorgement may vary] The NV Extra-Brut L’Ouverture is 100% Pinot Noir, base 2020 with 25% reserve wines each from 2019 and 2018. Crushed red berry fruit and white flowers lend notable brightness throughout. This nervy, taut Champagne is all class. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2023. (Drink between 2023-2030).”
Frederic Savart Bulle de Rose Premier Cru Brut Rosé, Champagne NV 750ml Displayed Price: $95, that’s $90.25 at 5% off and $85.50 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Decanter 92 points “Another citrus-forward Champagne here, playing its rosé cards close to its chest and leaning more into white territory. A soft fruity palate follows aromas of grapefruit and orange rind, switching gear as the mousse expands into an almost savoury, nut and dried herb finish. It maintains a taut structure and impresses with its elegance. (Drink between 2024-2030).”
Frederic Savart Expression Premier Cru Brut Nature, Champagne 2018 1.5L Displayed Price: $475, that’s $451.25 at 5% off and $427.50 at 10% off, 2 magnums in stock now
Importer Note “Savart’s “Expression” is Fred’s most limited wine with only 400 bottles produced. It is made from 100% old-vine Pinot Noir from the lieux-dits of Aillys, Chaillots derriere, Moutier, and Gillys where the soils are argilo-calcaire. These vineyards are not far from Le Mont des Chretiens. It is fermented in 500L barrels and ages for 10 months sur lie. It is always a single vintage and zero dosage.”

Frederic Savart Le Mont des Chretiens Premier Cru Extra Brut, Champagne 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $169, that’s $160.55 at 5% off and $152.10 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Wine Advocate 95 points “The highlight of Savart’s portfolio, the 2020 Écueil Le Mont des Chrétiens, hails from a 35-year-old southwest-facing site with vines thriving in sandy soils. Aged in 500-liter barrels, half new and the remainder used for one prior wine, it was disgorged in November 2024 with a dosage of 3.5 grams per liter. The wine opens with a deep bouquet of sesame, white flowers, beeswax and sandalwood, framed by a youthful reduction. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, deep and lively, with a distinctly Burgundian character, displaying remarkable tension and vibrancy despite the warm vintage. It concludes with a long, piercingly saline finish. This is a more successful bottling than the 2019, which Savart opted to vinify in Wineglobe.”
Frederic Savart Les Noues Ecueil Premier Cru Extra Brut, Champagne 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $149, that’s $141.55 at 5% off and $134.10 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 95 points “The 2020 Extra-Brut Les Noues, 100% Pinot Noir, is fabulous. Rich and exotic, the 2020 offers striking Pinot intensity in all of its myriad dimensions. Kirsch, wild flowers, spice, mint and jasmine lend gorgeous inner perfume. The 2020 is deep and layered, yet also remains light on its feet. It’s a captivating wine from Fred Savart. (Drink between 2026-2034).”

Grape of the Week:
Sauvignon Blanc in California
California has made a name for itself in Sauvignon Blanc, though not via a very direct route. Plantings in the US date back at least to the 1880s, when Bordeaux inspired wineries to create restrained or dessert-style examples. The grape made another splash in the 1960s when Robert Mondavi named it “Fumé Blanc” in reference to the oak aging and the classic flint notes in Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley region of Pouilly-Fumé.
Today, it’s more common to find fresh and zippy versions (sans the new oak and sugar). Our picks on offer include some of our best QPRs for the summer!

Alpha Omega Two Squared Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley 2019 750ml $16 special, 29 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The 2020 Hudson Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc offers a sophisticated exploration of Napa Valley’s Carneros AVA. As the only Sauvignon Blanc produced from this prestigious vineyard, it reflects the vineyard’s unique character. Sourced from the esteemed Hudson Vineyard, which benefits from cool marine influences and sedimentary soils, this wine captures the essence of its terroir. Aromas of papaya, Fuji apple, and lime zest combine with floral notes of citrus blossom and hints of shortbread cookies. On the palate, flavors of lemon oil, nectarine, and nutmeg are complemented by a refreshing wet slate minerality and lively acidity. Aged for 16 months in a mix of French oak and stainless steel, this wine layers elegance and complexity, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a refined Sauvignon Blanc with character and depth.”

Arnot-Roberts Randle Hill Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Yorkville Highlands 2023 750ml $36 special, 10 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The gnarled old Sauvignon Blanc vines at the Randle Hill Vineyard were planted in 1982 in the Yorkville Highlands of Mendocino County. This rugged and remote site is farmed organically on a steep hillside of eroding shale, situated at 1,100’ elevation, where it enjoys warm days and cool nights. We love the mineral driven Sauvignon Blancs of France’s Loire Valley and have long hoped we would find a site here in California that could grow Sauvignon Blanc that leaned in that direction. We knew that vine age, clone, elevation, soil, and farming all had to be right for us to achieve that expression and this vineyard met all the criteria. The resulting wine exhibits mineral and saline flavors balanced with a hint of herbaceous and floral aromatics.”
Bedrock Wine Co. Kick Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County 2023 750ml $24 special, 23 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “We have been extremely pleased with the consistently high quality of Sauvignon Blanc from Bedrock Vineyard despite the relative youth of the blocks it comes from. This is, no doubt, thanks to the deft hand of our viticulturist Jake Neustadt and foreman Alberto Rojas, who have been careful to keep the prolific variety well-balanced. Made completely from the Musqué clone to allow better aromatic development at lower potential alcohols, the fruit was whole-cluster pressed, then barrel fermented in a combination of Austrian and French oak barrels, a portion of which were new. The Sauvignon Blanc from Bedrock is blessed with an enormous amount of natural vibrancy thanks to its low 3.05 pH, so the barrels help to build texture and amplitude via lees contact. This balances the exotic passion fruit, mango, and lemon curd aromatics with dense and refreshing fruit. This is one of my favorite SBs we have made.”

Wine Spectator 91 points “Sleek and elegant, with plenty of power to the lemon curd, mango puree and fresh pineapple notes. Details of lemon verbena, ginger and orange blossoms add charm and aromatics on the finish. Drink now. 129,727 cases made.”
(Marietta Cellars) Old Vine Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, California 2024 750ml $16 special, 25 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Fresh, tropical, and evocative, this Sauvignon Blanc is crisp, clean, and undeniably refreshing. With each sip, it transports you to a world of ancient vines and lush green canopies. This wine isn’t just a drink; it’s a sensory journey, a way to slake the heat and dust of the day while savoring the pure, natural beauty of California’s landscape. Tropical core, fig, white flowers.”
