Felsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2010 750ML ($34.95) $26 re-arrival special
Case-12 Felsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2010 750ML ($349.95) $279 pre-arrival special (that’s only $23.25/bottle and the lowest listed price in the USA today!)
Wine Advocate 93 points “The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva is host to a beautiful mix of black mineral, fruit, dried mint and eucalyptus. The wine shows elegant evolution in the glass and backs it up with dry, polished tannins. This is a stunning effort available at a reasonable price. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028. This is one of the nicest collections of new releases by Giuseppe Mazzocolin’s Felsina. At the edge of the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi denominations, the estate counts 475 hectares, of which 61 are planted with vineyard.” WA
Antonio Galloni 92+ points “Classicists, on the other hand, will flip out over the 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva. Black cherry, plum, smoke and menthol notes all jump out of the glass. The 2010 is translucent yet also rich, powerful and impeccably balanced. Ideally readers should cellar the 2010 for at least a few years, but that is going to be difficult considering how beautiful the wine is today.” AG
James Suckling 92 points “A solid wine with beautifully integrated tannins and juicy fruit. Lovely austerity and all in balance. A real beauty. Drink or hold.”

This Week’s New Arrivals

OREGON
Penner-Ash Wine Cellars Viognier 2014 750ML ($29.95) $26 special

Swick Blanc de Noir 2014s 750ML ($24.95) $19 special
Winemaker’s note “Inspired by 3 years working in Tasmania and Yarra Valley Australia making sparkling wines; I wanted to make Blanc de Noir as a still wine from a high acid site. Cancilla Vineyard is organically farmed by my friend Ken Cancilla in Cherry Grove, Oregon near Gaston. Very close to the ocean. Gently pressed to barrel without settling; fermented and aged in neutral French oak for 8 months on its original lees without battonage. Bottled directly from barrel. 66 cases made.”

This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
The next best price is $26.99

Swick Wines Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir 2013 750ML ($29.95) $24 special
Winemaker’s note: The 2013 Yamhill Carlton Pinot is a blend of Bayliss Bower, Saffron Fields and Fairsing vineyards. All of the fruit was picked 2 weeks after the deluge of rain during the 2013 harvest. The extra hang time gave me a bit more maturity in flavors and tannin while sugars stayed low. The fruit was fermented outside in the open air and temperature was never controlled. A small amount of whole cluster was used. 30 days on skins in total. Aged in French oak barrels, 18% new, for 11 months. 11.8% alcohol 115 cases made.”

This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
The next best price is $35.99

Cristom Eileen Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 750ML ($69.95) $59 special
Winery note “Eileen Vineyard tends to produce a wine that is the most precocious of our four estate vineyards and it’s often the first wine we release into the market. It is always the wine we show first in a line-up of Cristom Pinot Noir. We often find them softer, meaning rounder on the palate with less minerality. Typically, Eileen is textured, layered and creamy on the palate and often recognizable by its bouquet of sweet spices.”

Cristom Louise Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 750ML ($69.95) $59 special
Winery note “The wine is more heavily textured, dark-fruited and more concentrated in flavor than any of our other estate Pinot Noir. We often find creamy-mocha latte notes on the bouquet co-mingling with dark red fruits that are reminiscent of fresh mulberries, very ripe blackberries, plums and black cherries along with hints of chocolate. We recognize Louise by a delightful velvet texture and a full and persistent finish.”

Cristom Jessie Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013 750ML ($69.95) $59 special
Winery note “Jessie Vineyard tends to produce Pinot Noirs that we recognize by a savory aroma that often calls to mind rare-beef. It also tends to have a very fresh and appealing scent of minerality, along with some higher tone lavender—purple flower notes. On the palate, Jessie tends towards a full mouth-feel and a deeper—darker—rounder impression. We find a certain ‘nervosity’ in this wine that describes some part of the tension between the ripe fruit and the structure of the wine.”
WASHINGTON
Swick Wines ‘Les Sous-Bois’ Underwood Vineyard, Columbia Gorge 2013 750ML ($27.95) $21.90 special
Winemaker’s note: From Underwood Mountain, on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge. Colder and higher in elevation than the Oregon side – elevation of 1500 feet, Basalt soil. A blend of Pommard and Wädenswil clone; super high acids with small dark berried clusters are typical of fruit here. 100% whole cluster, native everything, fermented outside with no temp control. 69 cases made.
CALIFORNIA

Case-6 Rodney Strong Rockaway Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 750 ($419.95) $379 special (that’s only $63.17/bottle and the lowest listed price in the USA today!)
Wine Spectator 94 points “A remarkable wine that exhibits the power of ripe currant, blackberry and cherry flavors along with cigar box, dried herb, green olive and tea notes. Ends with firm, dusty tannins and fine length. Drink now through 2028. ” WS
FRANCE-BORDEAUX
Chateau Guiraud ‘Le G de Chateau Guiraud’ Blanc Sec 2013 750ML ($24.95) $20.90 special
Wine Spectator 90 points “Alluring, with a lemon chiffon note out front, followed by racier chamomile, white peach and mirabelle plum flavors. The tangy, quinine-laced finish should settle in soon enough. Drink now through 2016.” WS
Ian D’Agata – Vinous Media 88-91 points “Bright straw. Perfumed aromas of grapefruit skin, gooseberry, mint, and tarragon. Juicy and bright but comes across as quite soft thanks to low acidity, offering pure flavors of underripe pineapple and pink grapefruit plus a suggestion of riper, creamier tropical fruits. Finishes densely packed, layered and long, with good lingering spice character. Still a little closed today.”ID
FRANCE-BURGUNDY
Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Bourgogne Chardonnay 2012 750ML ($29.95) $14 special
Wine Advocate 89 points “Bottled just before harvest, the 2012 Bourgogne Blanc has a very refined, nicely poised bouquet with lemon peel and dried apricot scents. The palate is rounded on the entry with a delicate touch of shaved ginger and it builds nicely in the mouth as if it were a decent village cru. This is punches above its weight. Drink now-2016.” WA

FRANCE-RHONE
Domaine Jamet Cote Rotie 2012 750ML ($179.95) $149 special
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 94 points “(15% new oak): Deep ruby. Complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red and dark berries, incense, violet and cracked pepper, along with a vibrant mineral overtone. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering intense blackberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that stretch out slowly with air. This concentrated yet lively Côte-Rôtie finishes with superb clarity and even tannins.” JR
Wine Advocate 92-95 points “Moving to the Cote Roties, the 2012 Cote Rotie, which was tasted from multiple barrels, shows the vintage beautifully, with the hallmark complexity of the estate, as well as plenty of pure fruit and texture on the palate. All of the samples show notions of olive tapenade, white pepper, tobacco and herbs to varying degrees, and it should end up being a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured effort that will be reasonably approachable on release, yet evolve gracefully. ” WA
FRANCE-LOIRE
Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Rose 2014 750ML ($17.95) $14 special
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 90 points “Pale orange. High-pitched aromas of orange zest, strawberry and chalky minerals, with a suave floral quality emerging slowly with air. Intensely mineral on the palate, offering fleshy but nicely focused red berry and citrus fruit flavors and a hint of anise. Finishes clean and spicy, with echoing strawberry and mineral notes.” JR

Domaine Robert Serol Cote Roannaise Les Millerands 2012 750ML ($21.95) $17 special
Winery note “Intense dark red colour. Complex aromas with empyreumatic flavours, spicy and roasted touch. Supple tannins which are more present in mid-mouth. Full-bodied, rich and harmonious wine.”

Castell’in Villa Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2006 750ML ($59.95) $49 special
Antonio Galloni 94 points “The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva hits all the high notes. Ripe and structured, yet also wonderfully contained, the 2006 boasts stunning depth, power and richness. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2006 is also likely to require a considerable amount of time to come around. All the elements are in the right place for the 2006 Riserva to develop into a splendid wine. The mid-weight, firm style is classic Castell’in Villa.” AG

Castell’in Villa Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2008 750ML ($59.95) $49 special
Ian D’Agata–Vinous 92+ POINTS “Good bright red. Nose began closed and brooding, but showed vibrant notes of redcurrant, mint and dried flowers with aeration, complicated by a strong mineral quality. Sweet and nicely lush in the mouth, with suave flavors of redcurrant, herbs and tobacco joined on the back end by a very strong element of gunflint. The long finish features a firm acid spine and youthfully chewy but noble tannins.” ID

Castell’in Villa Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2009 750ML ($59.95) $47 special
Antonio Galloni 92 points “Rich, enveloping and beautifully layered, the 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva is a rare Riserva that will drink nicely with minimal cellaring. Sweet tobacco, licorice, leather, cedar and underbrush meld together as this radiant, supple Riserva opens up in the glass. More classic elements of structure emerge on the finish.” AG

Castell’in Villa ‘Poggio delle Rose’, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2009 750ML ($79.95) $69 special
Antonio Galloni 93+ points “Castell’in Villa’s 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio delle Rose captures the generosity of the vintage while retaining a gorgeous sense of freshness and energy. Red stone fruit, tobacco, menthol, sage and leather nuances are bright and nicely focused, but with the additional breadth provided by the warm vintage. A long, silky finish rounds things out in style.” AG

Castell’in Villa Santacroce Toscana IGT 2007 750ML ($79.95) $59 special
Antonio Galloni 94 points “The 2007 Santacroce is a huge wine endowed with tons of richness and sheer textural depth. Dark cherries, plums, graphite, incense and tobacco burst from the glass in this intense, powerful wine. I very much like the way the 2007 fleshes out with time in the glass. It is a young, young wine that needs time to shed some baby fat and develop its bouquet. In 2007 Santacroce is more than 50% Cabernet Sauvignon for the first time, signaling the direction the wine will take as it gradually becomes a pure Cabernet Sauvignon.” AG
ITALY-PIEDMONT
Produttori del Barbaresco ‘Barbaresco DOCG’ 2008 750ML (39.95) $31.50 special
Wine Advocate 91+ points “The Produttori’s 2008 Barbaresco is simply fabulous. A sweet bouquet melds into expressive fruit in a Barbaresco that is exceptionally polished and refined. The 2008 boasts striking sweetness and inner perfume to match its understated, elegant personality. Quite frankly, the 2008 is very hard to resist today, as the tannins are quite polished. Unusually sweet, silky and refined, the 2008 will take the better part of a decade to show the full breadth of its pedigree. At $37, it is one of the very finest values in ageworthy wine from anywhere in the world. This is a magnificent showing from the Produttori and a great introduction to the 2008 harvest at this historic house. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038.”WA
Produttori del Barbaresco Ovello 2008 750ML ($69.95) $59 special
Wine Advocate 95+ points “The Produttori’s 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is a reference point wine for the village, even if, in truth, Ovello is a fairly diverse zone with many exposures. Firm, steely tannins support a core of expressive fruit in this vibrant, energetic Barbaresco. The 2008 is going to require considerable patience, but it is striking, even today. Sweet floral notes reappear on the vivid, utterly breathtaking finish, adding lift, precision and vibrancy. This is a stunning wine from the Produttori. The style is built on tension, energy and focus; in other words, all the qualities Ovello is known for. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2048.” WA
SPAIN
Jordi Oliver Conti ‘JOC’ Blanc 2012 750ML ($14.95) $8.80 special
Winery note “Grapes of selected vines from the zone of Espolla. Here there is no residual water; if you drill a hole in the ground you never find water. The grapes must ripen using rain reserves from the months of March, April and May. Short cycle varietals or white grapes are the most appropriate for these conditions. Espolla has both granitic and slate soils in the same composition. This mixture gives very expressive wines that are rich in minerals and produce varietal aromas using rational pruning criteria, balanced kilos per vine, and harvesting at the optimal moment. The wine JOC Blanco Empordá is made with the autochthonous varietals of garnacha blanca and macabeo, a typically Mediterranean wine. The wine has aromas of orange blossom, ripe apples, and notes of honey. On the palate, the wine is fresh, full, and the finish is balanced and persistent.”

The average price is $14

Gramona Gessami Penedes 2014 750ML ($21.95) $18 special
Winery Notes–“Sight: Pale, bright green with straw-coloured reflections. Nose: Aromatic burst. Like a walk in the spring, this wine reminds one of the coolness of fresh air, a bouquet of white flowers, (roses, jasmine, etc.), fennel, apricots and forest… all wrapped in a sweet atmosphere full of freshness, with a subtle mineral glow and an enveloping evocation of infusions and a citric breeze Taste: It surrounds you with a sweet atmosphere, freshness, mild and also flexible feel. Long, unctuous aftertaste with the evocation of white flowers and citric peels.”

Case-12 Buil & Gine 17-XI 2012 750ML ($199.95) $149 special

Staff Picks

Domaine Robert Chevillon Les Vaucrains, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru 2007 750ML ($109.95) $89 special
“These are the kinds of wines to spend a long evening with – pulling the cork while you cue up a record and lay out the night’s meal, tippling here and there as you cook, and saving a glass for while you wash the dishes. Across a few hours, the wine takes its time to disclose itself in subtle sweeps. Then, suddenly, it’s all gone.

I’ve enjoyed a few ‘07s recently in this very manner, pouring out little tastes from a makeshift decanter, surveying its evolution over a handful of hours. One highlight was ‘Les Vaucrains’ from Chevillon, a wine which presented itself as charming and brainy in equal measure.

“Les Vaucrains” opens up with broad strokes of anise and violets, black cherry, and forest floor. Lots of grip, a healthy dose of acid, and an enduring finish. Friendly, perhaps seductive, and yet there’s something underlying all of it which is more cerebral, elusive… I can’t give you a reason not to drink this now, though that’s not to suggest that many great dinners in the years to come await this wine. I only advise that you sip slowly!”

Classically Styled Bordeaux
Arriving Late September

From the importer “The final blend of the wine matches the proportions in which they are planted throughout the thirty hectares of vineyards: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. This traditional Haut Médoc is more like what you might remember of the classic Bordeaux styles of the 1960s and 1970s. Not at all cloaked in new wood or over-extracted tannins, Château Aney’s wines have finesse and balance that make them both approachable now and perfect for longer aging. They are a great choice for any cellar.”

Lapierre Morgon Beaujolais Arriving Late September

“Nobody’s wines taste like Marcel Lapierre’s. He is the source of a whole new school of winemaking, turning the hands of time back to wine the way Mother Nature envisioned it. Tasting it can change the way you taste wine.” – Kermit Lynch

Domaine Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2014 1.5L ($79.95) $59 pre-arrival special
VinopolNote: Gamay from 60 year old vines grown in granitic gravel.
Importer note “The Lapierres age their wines on fine lees for at least nine months in oak foudres and fûts ranging from three to thirteen years old. These wines are the essence of Morgon: bright, fleshy fruit with a palatable joie de vivre that was undoubtedly inherited from their creator. In the words of KLWM salesperson Sam Imel, ‘They are meant to be devoured.’”
California Pinot Noir
Arriving Mid-October

Neely Hidden Block Spring Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains 2012 750ML ($49.95) $41.90 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 92 points “Succulent red cherries, raspberries, mint, sweet spices and tobacco open up effortlessly in the 2012 Pinot Noir Hidden Block from Neely. Open-knit and absolutely delicious, the 2012 is gorgeous today and should drink well for the better part of the next decade. Pretty crushed rose petal notes add perfume on the gracious, super-expressive finish.”

The average price is $45

Neely ‘Picnic Block’ Spring Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains 2012 750ML ($49.95) $41.90 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 93 points “The 2012 Pinot Noir Picnic Block is dark, powerful and mysterious, with ferrous, earthy and gamy notes that add considerable character. The firm tannins could use another year to meld into the wine’s broad-shouldered frame, but I expect the Picnic will always remain virile and imposing in its voice, with distinct elements of rusticity. This is the shallowest of the three Chardonnay soils the Varners work with.”

This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
The average price is $45

Neely ‘Upper Picnic’ Spring Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains 2012 750ML ($49.95) $41.90 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 93 points “Neely’s 2012 Pinot Noir Upper Picnic is attractive, albeit not as differentiated to the Upper Picnic as it has often been in the past. Dark red cherry, plum, tobacco and spice blossom in an ample, generous Pinot Noir. The Upper Picnic is a bit more polished and less overtly tannic than the Picnic, but the wines are more similar than is often the case, one of the legacies of a vintage that smoothed out differences between vineyard sites throughout California. The creamy, expressive finish suggests the 2012 will drink well with minimal cellaring. This parcel was regrafted in 2006 to own-rooted vines.”

Calera Mills Vineyard Pinot Noir, Mount Harlan 2012 750ML ($59.95) $49 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 93 points “Crushed rose petal, sweet red berries, spices and anise lift from the glass in the 2012 Pinot Noir Mills Vineyard. Here the flavors are distinctly more red fruit leaning. Sweet, silky tannins wrap around the super-expressive, pliant finish. In 2012 the Mills presents a lovely combination of expressive aromatics, pliant fruit to match its open-knit personality. The Mills emerges from a parcel of own-rooted vines in Calera’s Mount Harlan property.”

This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
The average price is $65

Calera Selleck Vineyard Pinot Noir, Mount Harlan 2012 750ML ($149.95) $119 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 96 points “Calera’s 2012 Pinot Noir Selleck Vineyard is virtually seamless on the palate, with deep layers of fruit that nearly bury the tannins. Dark red and purplish fruit, mint, lavender, sage and sweet spices. Nuanced and impeccably balanced throughout, the 2012 captures the sexiness of the vintage yet retains tons of aromatic nuance and finesse. The 2012 will be a fascinating wine to follow over the next decade-plus.”

Bergstrom

John and Karen Bergstrom founded the winery with their Swedish agricultural heritage in mind. After a career as a surgeon, John moved the family from Portland to Dundee. Their initial effort entailed planting across thirteen acres of south-exposed slopes within the Willamette Valley.
Their son Josh assisted the family’s operation and worked various wineries in the late 1990s to gain experience before undertaking the CFPPA certificate program in Beaune. They produced their first vintage with fruit from Archery Summit before eventually opening the winery. Josh strives for the lowest Brix (sugar level) with the longest hang time. The grapes undergo a long cold soak and ferments with no native yeast (to help keep Brett away). The amount of new oak varies by cuvee from 0 – 100%. The wines are deep, concentrated and show grippy tannins and are superb cellaring candidates.

In the mouth the Old Stones Chardonnay is bright and crystalline like a laser beam with a sweet core of sugar cookie, ripe citrus, Granny Smith apple, tea type spice, and a mineral structure which gives this wine tremendous verve and appeal.”

Winery note “The 2013 Cumberland Reserve is dark red cherry in color and showcases an explosive and heady aromatic profile of fresh black cherries, red raspberries a slight kirsch note and ripe blueberries. The fruit character is bright and pure and only slightly lifted and framed by great Oregon spice and loamy earth character which adds depth and dimension to this very promising wine. In the mouth the wine is a fantastic expression of pure Oregon Pinot Noir with great verve and lift and vibrancy showing off rich, ripe berry flavors and a suave velvet-like structure which caresses the palate with its succulence but also promises a great future with its minerality and sweet tannins. Drink now-2019+”

Bergstrom Wines Gregory Ranch Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton District 2013 750ML ($69.95) $59 special, 2 bottles available
Winery note “Our fourth bottling of the Gregory Ranch Estate Vineyard really shows off the friendly personality of the 2013 vintage. Once again natural yields on this 21 acre vineyard were very low, a late spring frost reduced our overall crop by up to 40% in some blocks proving that although the Gregory Ranch may be our most climactically challenging parcel, the reward is always in the glass. The 2013 Gregory Ranch Pinot Noir is a vibrant ruby red color and possesses a very floral bouquet of roses and sweet purple violets as well as notes of ripe fruits on the nose like cherries, ripe strawberries and even red candies. A dark earthy note of mushrooms, oak spice, cola and sandalwood as well as citrus oils make this wine extremely intriguing now and promise great things as it develops with age. In the mouth it is bright and medium bodied with a tight tannic grip which opens up and melts away with aeration or decantation but still exudes lovely sweet fruit. This wine has succulent acidity and a long finish but remains tight now and will age well but is a very pleasant and easy drinking wine representative of the warm vintage. Needs 1-2 years to open up and develop then should drink well for 5-10 years.”

Bergstrom Wines Le Pre Du Col Vineyard Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2013 750ML ($69.95) $59 special, 1 bottles available
Winery note “This wine has great mineral cut and juicy mouthwatering natural acidities with very fine tannins. The wine is very spicy and sweet in the mouth with a slight hint of reduction, mushrooms and red fruits. Always a staff and sommelier favorite it is a great vintage for this vineyard that is going from strength to strength as the vines mature and all 16 acres are now producing.”

Bergstrom Wines ‘Bergstrom Vineyard’ Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2013 750ML ($89.95) $79 special, 2 bottles available
Winery note “The Bergström Vineyard Pinot Noir is our flagship single vineyard Pinot Noir. Our first estate vineyard, planted in 1999, located in the red volcanic Jory soils of the Dundee Hills. This wine is usually one of our more cellar-worthy Pinot Noirs sometimes taking two or three years after bottling to fully blossom and unfurl its potential. The 2013 Bergström Vineyard Pinot Noir is vibrant ruby in color with pink reflections and has aromas of pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, citrus oils, savory herb garden, black cherries, and mint. There is sweet bright crunch of fruit in the mouth with succulent mouthwatering acidity which drives this wine’s energy. This wine possesses a core of dark red fruits and sweet spices in the mid palate with very fine dusting of sweet tannins and a long finish. A very unique but special bottling from this great vineyard site. Behaving much more like a young Burgundy, this great Oregon Pinot Noir should be consumed between 2017 and 2025, but could drink well for two decades or more.”

“The 2012 Cote de Nuits Village comes from 40- to 45-year-old vines. It has a deep, almost broody bouquet with brambly black fruit, hints of wet tobacco and damp soil. The palate is well-balanced with pleasant, quite rounded tannins. The acidity is well judged here, lending this Cote de Nuits Village a natural, refined finish. This is a delicious Burgundy wine, a perfect introduction to the delights of region. Drink now-2017.”–Wine Advocate

Wine Advocate 89 points “A classic Northern Rhone Syrah, the 2012 Crozes Hermitage has lots of saddle leather, dried flowers and sweet red and black fruit-like qualities on the nose. Medium-bodied, supple, forward and even a little sexy, drink this beauty over the coming 4-5 years.” WA

Wine Spectator 92 points “Silky and briary, with lots of pepper, savory and tobacco notes coursing along, while a hint of shiso leaf separates them from the blackberry and black currant confiture flavors. Lovely, finely beaded acidity offsets the tarry grip. Great range and tension. Best from 2014 through 2028. 1,200 cases imported.” JM

Robert Parker 91 points “The 2012 Breca from Calatayud is 100% old-vine Garnacha (from vines planted between 1925 and 1945) made from yields of less than one ton of fruit per acre. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and then transferred to new to 3-year-old French oak casks for 21 months, this outstanding red is the poor man’s Priorat. Mineral notes of wet slate and gun flint are intermixed with blackcurrant, black cherry and cassis fruit in this dense, full-bodied, pure, lavishly rich, intense Spanish red. It is hard to believe what one can get at this price point if the importer and wine producer are committed to high quality.” RP

Josh Raynolds–Vinous 89 points “(all stainless steel): Bright purple. Dark berries, cherry and a touch of smokiness on the nose and in the mouth. Spicy and juicy, showing good focus and back-end cut. The red fruit and smoke qualities carry through a sweet, gently tannic finish that shows surprising power for the vintage. Offers excellent bang for the buck.” JR
