The most remarkable thing for me about 2021 was the incredible perfume and aromas of every fermenting wine, regardless of whether they were white, red, or pink. Stunning across the board. My winery was not alone in this. It seemed to happen with my colleagues, too. The wines are so delicious […] 2022 is a year that I have been the happiest about my whites to date and I love the balance and beauty of the Pinots.
-Kelley Fox

Kelley Fox Durant Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 750ml $44.50 special, 24 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points “A bright yellow hue with green highlights, the 2022 Chardonnay Durant Vineyard is expressive in its lacy perfume of jasmine, tarragon, salty earth, and bright green apple. Medium-bodied, it offers beautiful, pristine, ripe fruit, a pithy texture, and a delicate arch to its rounded mouthfeel, with no harshness. It’s refined and graceful, with a floral flourish of lemon blossoms lasting long on the finish. Drink 2024-2034.”

Kelley Fox Freedom Hill Pinot Blanc 2022 750ml $36 special, 36 bottles available
Winery Notes “The colour is a highly transparent, pale, brilliant lemon-yellow. The nose is full of subtle creamy citrus and tropical fruits with a hint of floral tones and powdery minerals and is incredibly inviting. The texture is light on its feet but has lovely heft. The mouth is much like the nose and is balanced with lovely tension and texture. This Pinot blanc is very clean on the palate, and long. I love how this turned out: the energy of ocean-fresh air and delicious fruit.”

Kelley Fox Maresh Vineyard Golden-Crowned Sparrow Blocks Pinot Noir 2022 750ml $89 special, 12 bottles available
Winery Notes “The Maresh Golden is a medium, youthful and rich blue-red with brilliant transparency. Of course, the nose is full of Hood strawberries with the cool freshness of rain and the Pacific Ocean in the spring air, along with dark red cherries and spice. This beautifully structured wine has disarming purity and weightless power.”

Kelley Fox Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 750ml $89 special, 12 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points “The jeweled ruby 2021 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard takes on a riper though equally pristine character, with wild raspberry liqueur, pressed roses, forest herbs, and blood orange. On the palate, it has a rounded mouthfeel with more concentration and delivers ripe tannins as well as a pure, long, earth-toned finish with beetroot spice. Drink 2025-2035.”

Arriving October 20th

Kelley Fox Carter Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 750ml $89 special, 12 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Points “From 40-year-old self-rooted vines that are organically farmed, the 2021 Pinot Noir Carter Vineyard is a ripe ruby hue and offers notes of grenadine, candied roses, and cinnamon. Its tannins are ripe and fine, and it fills the palate with ripe red fruit, apricot, and notes of crushed stone along with mouthwatering salinity. Drink 2023-2038.”

Kelley Fox Canary Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 75ml $89 special, 5 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points “Moving over to the Eola-Amity Hills, the 2021 Pinot Noir Canary Hill Vineyard is packed with energetic tension, opening to notes of crushed stone, ripe pomegranate, and rosemary. Focused, with balanced ripeness and even-keeled acidity, it’s seamless and long on the palate, with sweet tannins and a refined feel. It has fantastic energy, with delicate incense on the long finish, and will be an age-worthy wine to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years.”

Kelley Fox Maresh Vineyard Liminal Pinot Noir 2021 750ml $89 special, 9 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points “A gorgeous perfume lifts from the glass of the 2021 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard Liminal revealing notes of rhubarb, rosehip, and raspberry eau di vie. Coming from vines planted in close proximity to walnut trees and pouring a vibrant ruby color with youthful hints of orange, it offers fine tannins, a linear, weightless feel, and a clean, long, perfumed finish. It is very attractive now but will have significant longevity over the coming 6-8 years.”

Kelley Fox Maresh Royal Ann Block Pinot Noir 2021750ml $89 special, 6 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points “The 2021 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard Royal Ann Block takes on an exuberant, energetic lift of bright red cherry, incense, spiced orange zest, and delicate clove spice. Medium-bodied and taking on a touch more depth compared to the Liminal, it brings fine, ripe tannins and has a long finish.”

“Andre Clouet”
Andre Clouet ‘Dream Vintage’ Brut 2006 750ml $75 special, 36 bottles available
James Suckling 95 Points “A rich and almost opulent champagne for lovers of mature chardonnay. As much melted butter as candied-lemon and orange character. Glides over the palate into the very silky finish, the touch of salinity creating a wonderful tension with the creaminess. “

Andre Clouet ‘Dream Vintage’ Brut 2008 750ml $85 special, 36 bottles available
James Suckling 96 points
“Such a classic Blanc de Blancs champagne with the special elegance, brilliance and minerality of the 2008 vintage. Very well structured, but without the austere acidity structure that some 2008s have. Long and very clean finish that sends you back to the glass.”

James Suckling 94 points
“A slew of candied-citrus aromas are married to a full, creamy body and very elegant acidity that carries the richness with ease. Long, gentle finish with plenty of mineral complexity.”

“Taittinger”
Taittinger Brut Millesime, Champagne 2013 750ml $89 special, 30 bottles available
Wine Enthusiast 95 Points “This blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is poised and stylish. It has a nervy edge and is very mineral in texture, both characteristics typical of this vintage. At this early stage in its development, the wine holds the promise of long aging with its intense acidity and attractive texture. Drink this Champagne from 2023.”
James Suckling 93 Points “Very attractive grapefruit, white-peach and gently flinty, reductive aromas with a red-fruit edge. The palate has a smooth array of flavors in the same vein with bright, gently bready notes added to the finish. Drink or hold.”
Wine Advocate 92+ Points “The 2013 Brut Millésimé continues to show very well, reflecting the chiseled, classically balanced vintage that will appeal immensely to purists. Opening in the glass with a precise and youthfully reserved bouquet of citrus oil, crisp green apple and freshly baked bread, it’s medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a deep but tightly wound core, ripe but tangy acids and a penetrating, delicately chalky finish. This will merit some additional bottle age and may well prove a sleeper from Taittinger.”

“Brick House Vineyards”
Brick House ‘Evelyn’s’ Pinot Noir 2021 750ml $75 special, 12 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points [2021] “I love the aromatics that lift from the 2021 Pinot Noir Evelyn’s, with spice and anise, wild red berries, and dusty earth. It’s very elegant in style and offers a significant departure in its texture, with a soft, stony mouthfeel, medium to full body, a linear feel, and a more citrus-driven finish, with notes of orange oil lasting long after the wine is gone. Refined with mineral accents, this is going to benefit from time in the cellar to uncoil and should have a long arch in its evolution. Drink 2025-2040.”

Brick House Pinot Noir Select 2022 750ml $41.90 special, 12 bottles available
Not yet reviewed, 2021 review provided for reference
Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points “[2021] The 2021 Pinot Noir Select is a saturated ruby color and takes on ripe aromas of generous cherry fruit, crushed flowers, and turned earth. Medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins, great structure, ripe savory herbs, and a bit of iron-rich earth, it offers a lot of value and is a great insight into the style of the Brick House estate. Drink 2024-2032.”

Pegau Chateauneuf De Pape Cuvee Reservee 2019 750ml $79 special, 11 bottles available
Wine Advocate 95-97 Points “The 2019 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée looks set to rival the best examples of this bottling. Made up of approximately 80% Grenache, with 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and smaller amounts of other permitted varieties, it’s impressively complex on the nose, with scents of black cherries, blackberries and black olives, plus mysterious wafts of violets and garrigue. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it finishes long and velvety, a sure-fire bet for cellaring.”

Bartolo Mascarello Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $319 special, 12 bottles available
Wine Advocate 98+ Points “Coming to market this fall, the Bartolo Mascarello 2019 Barolo represents a classic vintage in between two challenging growing seasons. Both 2018 and 2020 were hotter than 2019, resulting in higher alcohol levels. With fruit harvested on October 8th and 9th, this expression from 2019 shows extra freshness and a more streamlined style compared to the texturally generous 2020 or the softer and more open-knit 2018. Extraction and structure came easily in 2019, and delicate pump-overs sufficed. Maria Teresa Mascarello opted against submerged cap fermentations in 2022, 2019, 2017 and 2013. It was performed in 2016, 2014 and 2010, however. The fruit represents a blend of Monrobiolo in Bussia (a site with a lease that ends in 2025), Rue and Cannubi in Barolo and Rocche dell’Annunziata in La Morra. San Lorenzo will return to the blend in 2020. This bottle promises a decisive, vertical delivery of fruit (lots of “skeleton and bones”) with a pretty moment of crunch, elegant acidic freshness and tannic structure. If you are nostalgic for a tight, acidity-driven Barolo that is good for long cellar aging, the 2019 is for you.”
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points “The 2019 Barolo saw a gentle fermentation without implementing a submerged cap and is a more forward and linear wine, with rhubarb, pomegranate, and orange peel. It retains a medium body with a more direct nature, with refined tannins and racy acidity that is citrus-driven with notes of ripe apricot and red raspberry. This is an outstanding wine to hold a few years and drink over the coming decades.” -Audrey Frick
Vinous 96 Points “The 2019 Barolo is a very beautiful, delicate wine that captures the best this vintage has to offer. Gracious and light on its feet, with striking inner sweetness, the 2019 is captivating from the first taste. Kirsch, rose petal, mint, hard candy, cedar and orange zest all grace this super-classic, perfumed Barolo. Young Nebbiolo tannins are there, but they are very elegantly woven into the wine’s frame. Vineyard sites are Cannubi, Ruè, Monrobiolo di Bussia and Le Rocche dell’Annunziata, co-fermented in the style that is such a house signature.” -Antonio Galloni

Envinate ‘Lousas’ Vina de Aldea, Ribeira Sacra 2021 1.5L $99 special, 3 magnums available
James Suckling 96 points “Excellent depth with a vibrant lift of pepperiness to the wild and airy bramble fruit and minerality. Chalky and broad on the palate but really weightless with chalky tannins and a fresh, refined finish. Delicious now.”

Envinate Lousas Doad, Ribeira Sacra 2021 750ml $59 special, 6 bottles available
James Suckling 95 points “Fine, chalky nose with fresh brambly fruit, pomegranate, tile and white pepper. Lots of wild fruit on the palate with fine, fresh tannins and a long finish full of wild herbs and some cooked grapefruit. So drinkable now, why hold?”
89% Mencía, 10% other varieties

Envinate Lousas Parcela Rosende, Ribeira Sacra 2021 750ml $54.50 special, 6 bottles available
Importer note “From a single vineyard of 28-60-year-old vines in Rosende, in O Saviñao, the soils here remind them of the northern Rhône with granite crystals flecked through the sand. The wine is full of cherries, berries, wild strawberries and a slightly savoury, umami finish.”
85% Mencía, 15% other varieties.

A Chingao Vineyards & Envinate ‘Misturado de Abeleda,’ Ribeira Sacra 2021 750ml $54.50 special, 12 bottles available
Jose Pastor importer note “Misturado de Abeleda is sourced from a centenarian parcel located in Ribeiras do Sil. This is a rare, mixed-planted parcel, with about 70% red and 30% white grapes. The grapes were hand-harvested, foot-trodden and co-fermented 100% whole cluster with wild yeasts in open top plastic tubs, then raised in used 300 and 400 liter French oak for 11 months with no racking. The finished wine is bottled without fining, filtration or added SO2. A throwback to Ribeira Sacra’s early days.”

Ok, maybe this is a cheat, but blindfold us and we’d swear this local wine is from Tuscany. This wine has a ripe cherry profile, with hints of savory dried herbs around the edges, lithe tannins, and a pleasantly tart finish. Perfect accompaniment to Pizza or Bolognese.”

Wine & Spirits Annual Top 100 Guide

“Luigi Baudana”

Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries “The tiny hamlet of Baudana is nestled on a ridge, surrounded by the MGA that bears the same name: both are a indications of how long the Baudana family has dwelled in this corner of Serralunga. Luigi Baudana and his wife, Fiorina, managed the family’s 10 acres of vineyards for three decades, until Luigi began to contemplate retirement in 2005. That’s when the Vaira family came into the picture. “It was a very Piemontese story,” says Giuseppe Vaira, now the winemaker at Luigi Baudana and at G.D. Vajra, his family’s estate in the commune of Barolo. Land prices throughout the Barolo zone have soared over the last decade, and transactions are closely guarded secrets. “The rumor spread and neighbors started approaching him, but to think of selling your property to your neighbor…that is difficult,” recalls Vaira. Over time, the Baudanas became comfortable with the arrangement, and in 2009 the Vaira family took ownership of the estate, keeping the Baudanas involved in decisions and Luigi’s name on the labels. One significant decision, before the Vairas became owners, was to create a Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba with fruit from the estate’s younger vines, which elevated the selection of fruit for the single-cru Barolos. They also adopted organic farming practices in the vineyards, eliminated French oak barriques in favor of large Slavonian casks, and decreased the amount of salasso (bleeding the tanks) to give a more natural level of concentration. All of this has led to wines that show tremendous clarity, precision and balance.”

Luigi Baudana Cerretta Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $89 special, 29 bottles available
Wine & Spirits 98 Points “… balances power, freshness, and depth of fruit to create the most impressive wine we have yet tasted from this estate. Its ample flavors of fresh, thick-skinned red cherry are edged in cool, firm tannins that keep the flavors taut as the wine gains complex spice and richer fruit over several days.”

Luigi Baudana Serralunga Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $59 special, 11 bottles available
Wine & Spirits 96 Points “Nebbiolo from Cerretta, Baudana, and Costabella combines seamlessly in this fresh and elegant wine. The red fruit tones feel crisp and precise, propelled by brisk acidity and brightened by notes of spearmint and orange peel.”

Luigi Baudana Baudana Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $89 special, 11 bottles available
Wine & Spirits 96 Points “This wine is harmonious right out of the gate, offering a youthful energy and appeal that is surprising for a Barolo from Serralunga. There’s plenty of power in the cool, polished tannins, but the wine’s flavors of cherry, raspberry, and blood orange create a mouth-watering sensation of fruit picked at exactly the right moment.”

Luigi Baudana Baudana Barolo DOCG 2018 750ml $69 special, 36+ bottles available
Wine Advocate 94 Points “With fruit from Serralunga d’Alba, the 2018 Barolo Baudana is a very different wine when compared to the other single-vineyard expressions from this estate. This has to do with site and soil, and in the case of this celebrated subzone, the wines are always more powerful, more structured and mineral-driven. Dark fruit is followed by rusty notes of iron ore and crushed clay. This wine offers good substance both in terms of finish and texture. Cascina Adelaide does a great job with the Baudana.”

Luigi Baudana Cerretta Barolo DOCG 2018 750ml $69 special, 36+ bottles available
Vinous 93 Points “The 2018 Barolo Cerretta is a potent, searing wine, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. Scorching tannins wrap around a core of dark red/black fruit, gravel, smoke, crushed rocks, menthol, licorice and game. The 2018 is going to need a number of years to come around and for those formidable tannins to soften.”

Luigi Baudana Serralunga Barolo DOCG 2017 750ml $49 special, 7 bottles available
Vinous 93 points “The 2017 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba may very well turn out to be one of the best wines of the year in its peer group. Dark and wonderfully expressive, yet also light on its feet for a Serralunga Barolo, the 2017 has so much going on. Black cherry, plum, spice, gravel, cured meats, lavender and sage all meld together in this dark yet translucent Barolo.”

Luigi Baudana Serralunga Barolo DOCG 2018 750ml $51.50 special, 19 bottles available
Vinous 91 Points “The 2018 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba is redolent of savory and ferrous notes woven into a core of dried red cherry fruit. Spice, mint and tobacco develop later, adding pretty shades of nuance. Readers will find a super-classic Serralunga Barolo, but one that won’t need more than a few years to be at its best.”

Luigi Baudana Dragon Langhe Bianco 2022 750ml $17.50 special, 16 bottles available
Wine Notes “Dragon is a unique white blend from the Langhe. Originally produced by Luigi Baudana during the 1980s with Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc, it has evolved to embrace Nascetta, the most exciting white heirloom varietal of the Langhe, and a tiny amount of Riesling. The original vineyard was located in Cerretta Piani in Serralunga d’Alba. The Nascetta was instead planted in Comune di Novello, the very place of origin of this grape, at the top of the Ravera hill. Dragon opens to fresh fruit aromas such as kiwi, lime and pear. Hints of minerality like flint and sea stones complete the elegant bouquet. The palate is citrusy whit flavors of orchard fruit, macerated elder flower and candied orange peel that shine through the fresh and vibrant acidity.”

Avancia Godello Nobleza VV 2020 750ml WAS $59 NOW $49 special, 9 bottles available
Vinous 94 Points “Pale gold. Intensely perfumed pear nectar and orange zest qualities on the nose; honeysuckle and mineral notes add lift. Juicy, penetrating and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated citrus and orchard fruit and floral flavors along with suggestions of salty minerals and bitter quinine. Deftly melds depth and vivacity and finishes extremely long and briny, with outstanding clarity and repeating florality.”-Josh Raynolds

Bodegas Maranones 30,000 Maravedies 2016 750ml WAS $24  NOW $20.90 special, 21 bottles available
Wine Advocate 91+ Points “The fully developed, aromatic and open 2016 30.000 Maravedíes, with nice aromatics and a very pleasant palate. Bodegas Muga Seleccion Especial Rioja 2018 750ml WAS $44  NOW $39 special, 36+ bottles available
Wine Advocate 94 Points “2018 was a cooler vintage, with a fairly long maturation, which made the wines somewhat fresher and less alcoholic, as showcased by the 2018 Selección Especial, a classical blend of the four red varieties from Rioja, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano with contained ripeness (14.05% alcohol) and good freshness. It fermented in oak casks with indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels, 40% of them new, for 26 months. They were not very happy with the vintage and had to sort and discard, but as they didn’t produce Prado Enea, Torre Muga or Haro, those grapes went into this wine. They are reluctant about 2018, but I think it was a vintage capable of the best and the worst, and this 2018 is floral, expressive and elegant. It’s medium to full- bodied, with very fine, chalky tannins, combining power and elegance. Amazing! 187,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2021.” -Luis Gutierrez
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points “The 2018 Muga Selección Especial is 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, and the rest Graciano y Mazuelo. It shows the fresher style of the vintage yet has good richness in its cassis and black raspberry fruit profile as well as notes of tobacco leaf, violets, and spicy oak. Straight-up gorgeous on the palate, it shines for its purity, has ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. I’m a fan.”

Wine Spectator 91 Points “Open-knit, offering a gush of steeped plum and açaí berry flavors laced with licorice and ganache hints. Lightens up just a bit through the finish, as the structure is on the modest side, but the fruit is a joy to drink.”

Postmark By Duckhorn Paso Robles Cabernet 2019 750ml WAS $18 NOW $16 special, 36+ bottles available
Wine Enthusiast 91 Points “Fresh and fruity aromas of cherry and strawberry meet with notes of French toast and light herbs on the nose of this bottling. Those juicy fruits come through on the palate as well, with a baked red-cherry flavor that is framed by cigar-box and nutmeg accents.”

Ulysses Vineyard Cabernet Oakville Napa 2018 750ml WAS $169 NOW $145 special, 18 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 99 Points “Just about pure perfection and the finest wine I’ve tasted from this address, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon yet includes smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all from a site just north of Dominus. This deep, inky hued beauty offers up a beautiful, full-bodied, richly textured, and incredibly concentrated style that carries ample black and blue fruit as well as notes of crushed stone, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil. It has the focused, structured style of the 2018 vintage and is going to benefit from 4-6 years (if not a decade) of bottle age and will be a 30+ year wine.”

“Domaine Arlaud”
Domaine Arlaud Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Morey-Saint-Denis 2021 750ml $599 special, 3 bottles available
Vinous 96-98 Points “The 2021 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has what is often termed “transparency” on the entrancing nose, airy yet vigorous with lifted red berry fruit, petrichor and light citrus aromas. There’s just a hint of reduction but minor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, quite deep and intense, elegant and lightly spiced towards the persistent finish that lingers in the mouth. Unerringly symmetrical.”

“Remoissenet Pere & Fils”
 Remoissenet Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2011 750ml $219 special, 6 bottles available
Antonio Galloni 93+ Points “The 2011 Chapelle-Chambertin is not lacking in personality, that much is obvious. A savory, almost wild Burgundy, the 2011 Chapelle is laced with dried herbs, tobacco, black cherries and cured meats are some of the notes that blossom in the glass. It will be interesting to see where the 2011 goes; will it always remain a bit gamy, or will it find a bit more finesse in bottle?”

Remoissenet Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru 2011 750ml $249 special, 4 bottles available
Wine Advocate 93 Points “The 2011 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru is less flamboyant than the Charmes-Chambertin ‘11 tasted alongside. The fruit here is darker, a touch more tertiary but still very well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, a masculine Clos-de-Beze that will need two or three more years in the cellar. Personally, I prefer the harmony and plushness of the Charmes-Chambertin, although this will repay bottle age thanks to its substance and structure. Drink 2018-2030.”
Vinous 93 Points “The 2011 Chambertin Clos de Bèze isn’t ready to show all its cards just yet. This is a relatively delicate style for Bèze, with expressive floral notes that convey more finesse than power. The 2011 isn’t fully formed yet, but today my impression is that it will remain quite restrained in style.”-Antonio Galloni

Remoissenet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2011 750ml $249 special, 8 bottles available
Vinous 93 Points “The 2011 Clos de Vougeot is dense, compact and structured. Firm, chalky tannins support a core of bright red berries, mint, wild flowers and minerals. The 2011 possesses gorgeous clarity and focus, with more than enough underlying minerality to drink well for a number if years.” -Antonio Galloni
Value is relative… You could buy all of these for $4,054… versus one bottle of 2011 DRC for $5,258.

Wine Spectator 94 Points “There’s a lot of oak here, lending char, vanilla and whisky elements to the core of black cherry and black currant flavors. Fresh and firm, though the finish absorbs the oak better than the initial attack. Vibrant and long, this just needs time to integrate. Best from 2020 through 2036.”

Louis Jadot Domaine Heretiers Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2016 750ml $249 special, 6+ bottles available
Wine Enthusiast 96 Points “From vineyards owned by the inheritors of the Louis Jadot estate, this wine has all the power expected from this vineyard. Its density and richness are palpable, even when crispened by a fresh citrus edge. Wood aging adds spice and enhances the aging potential. Drink from 2024.”

Louis Jadot Clos de Vougeot 2016 750ml $199 special, 12+ bottles available
Wine Spectator 97 Points “Rose, cherry and spice aromas introduce this light-bodied, saturated version. The flavors add wild strawberry, incense and kirsch notes, while remaining persistent on the kaleidoscopic finish. Feels tense now, yet should develop nicely over time. A mineral element lingers. Best from 2023 through 2045.”
