Cameron Wines
New, Large Format!
Cameron Winery ‘Abbey Ridge’ Pinot Noir 2012 1.5L ($179.95) $149 special, 3 magnums available
Winery note “The effusive aromas of 2012 Abbey Ridge Pinot noir mingle juniper berry, fennel, straw and tamarind, accompanied by high notes of blackberries and blueberries. The palate is resplendent with flavors of cherry cola, stewed plums and licorice. Soft tannins, bright acid and a nice long finish is typical of Abbey Ridge. This wine is a blinding success!”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Winery note “The 2012 Clos Electrique Rouge boasts aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, cranberry, lilac, cedar and licorice. Another swirl in the glass releases the ubiquitous complexity of Clos Electrique terroir: forest floor, mushroom and leather, intensified by indigenous yeast fermentation. This yin/yang Pinot Noir shows a cool vintage in the layered aromas, and a warm vintage expressed on the palate of juicy berry and licorice with ripe, round tannins. The firm structure and vibrant acidity assure its long cellar-worthiness, assuming you can wait that long!”
Peter Weygandt
Peter Weygandt began his career as a wine importer in 1989. During an earlier career as a lawyer, he and his wife Maria traveled to France in the mid-80’s and fell in love with the country, of course, but also the wines. Not long after, he established his own law firm – crucial to financing his future endeavor. In the ensuing years, he visited growers, did some research, and his name slowly began to grace the back labels of some of the finest wine to be had.
The portfolio now includes over 150 producers from France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Australia, Spain, and Portugal. Among the most revered include Domaine Charvin, Domaine de Vissoux, F.X. Pichler, Remi Jobard, Serafin Pere & Fils, and Marc Plouzeau. We’re proud to stock dozens upon dozens of wines from the esteemed Weygandt portfolio.

Joel Payne-Vinous 93 points “Ripe pear, snap pea and soft herbal spices on the beautifully nuanced nose. Steely and aristocratic on the palate, showing darker fruits and more acidity than the Loibenberg, with concentrated green mango, yellow plum and celery flavors over a layer of flinty slate. Despite its impressive opulence, this is subtle, precise and pure, probably due to the extreme age of the vineyard.”
Falstaff 92-94 points “[translated] Medium greenish yellow. Attractive yellow tropical fruit, delicate pineapple and peach, with fresh wild herbs and delicately highlighted with orange zest. Powerful, a fine touch of honey, sweet extracted core, subtle acid structure, mineral reverberation, yellow fruity finish, a hint of opulence.”

Case-12 Pierre-Marie Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Coeur de Vendanges 2014 ($249.95) $219 special, 2 cases available
Wine Enthusiast 90 points “This “heart of the harvest” Gamay is produced from 100-year-old vines, a rarity in any appellation. With less than five acres to work with, this ripe and structured wine shows the potential even of “simple” Beaujolais-appellation wines. It has weight, spice and warm red fruits that are laced with acidity. Drink this wine from 2016. — R.V. (12/1/2015)
The next best price is $28/btl.
…plus, we stock 10 other cuvees from Chermette!
Antonio Galloni 92+ points “A deep, earthy wine, the 2011 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots-Dessus hits the palate with tons of muscle and power. The style is bold and direct. There isn’t a whole lot of complexity here, but there is plenty of pure stuffing. It will be interesting to see where the 2011 goes over the coming year. Today structural elements dominate over fruit.” AG
The next best price is $99.99
…plus, we currently stock 7 other wines by Jobard!
Case-12 Domaine Cameron Bourgogne Tonnerre Sagara, Burgundy 2013 750ML ($249.95) $219 special, 2 cases available
Wine Advocate 90 points “The 2013 Bourgogne Tonnerre Sagara has light nectarine, jasmine and almond scents on the nose that is nicely defined, though it does not quite have the edginess of the 2014. The palate is clean and fresh, nicely poised with a slightly resinous texture and attractive blood-orange notes interlacing the finish. Drink this more exotic Sagara over the next 4 to 6 years.” WA
Antonio Galloni 90-92 points “One of the real gems in this range, the Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth and dimension. Violets, cloves and menthol meld into a core of dark fruit. The vintage has given the Vieilles Vignes an extra bit of volume that is hugely appealing. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. This voluptuous Gevrey should offer a wide window of fabulous drinking.” AG
The next best price is $134.99
…plus, we currently stock 18 other wines by Serafin!
Wine Advocate 93 points “Offering a knockout (if not slightly feral/wild) bouquet of sweet blackberry, currants, resinous scrub brush, violets and pepper, Tribouley’s 2011 Cotes Catalanes Orchis is an incredible value that hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, fantastic mid-palate richness and sweet tannin that starts to emerge on the finish. Reminding me of a release from Gauby, with a slightly exotic, hard-to-describe quality that’s enhanced by loads of fruit and texture, this beautiful effort makes the most of the vintage and should put a smile on everyone’s face over the coming decade.” WA
…plus, we currently stock 2 other wines from Tribouley!
Wine Advocate 91 points “The 2012 Cairanne le Font d’Estevenas is an outstanding blend of Grenache and Syrah that saw a traditional élevage in tank. Showing plenty of gamy meatiness, spice and sweet berry and raspberry fruit, it’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and has enough underlying structure to drink nicely for another 5-7 years. While I don’t have the price on this latest release, it normally represents a fantastic value.”JD
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 95 points “Bright ruby. Explosive red and dark berry scents are complicated by suggestions of fresh flowers, Asian spices and smoky minerals. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering intense black raspberry and rose pastille flavors that put on weight with air. Gentle tannins sneak in slowly and fold smoothly into the wine’s sweet fruit on the strikingly long spicy, floral finish.” JR
Wine Advocate 93-96 points “More backwards and tannic, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape (same blend as the 2012) was tight and structured at the time of this tasting (as was the 2011, which was much more approachable and open when I tasted it from a bottle in the U.S.), with serious pepper, herbs de Provence and assorted darker berry-styled fruit. Cutting a broad path across the palate, with full-bodied richness, bright acidity and edgy tannin, it should soften up over the next year and be reasonably accessible with short-term cellaring. A solid 12-15 year drink window sounds about right. Drink 2016-2027. Consistently producing lively, fresh and elegant efforts that never lack for structure or richness, Domain Charvin is run by the soft spoken and generous Laurent Charvin. The winemaking here is very traditional, with some stem inclusion and aging completely in tank.” WA
Yann Chave Hermitage 2011 750ML ($119.95) $89 special, 6 bottles available
Wine Advocate 94 points “Also inky colored, full-bodied and seriously rich, the 2011 Hermitage boasts knockout aromas and flavors of blueberry, creme de cassis, plum pit, scorched earth and crushed rock. Dense, concentrated, yet also voluptuously textured, with sweet tannin and notable freshness and purity, it will have an easy 12-15 years of longevity.”
M. Plouzeau Clos de Maulevrier Touraine ‘Ante Phylloxera’ Franc de Pied 2012 750ML ($51.95) $45 special, 11 bottles available
Winery note “[Translated] Here is a quite amazing wine. It comes from an enclosed 40 acres of one of the most exceptional vineyards that survived the phylloxera attack in 1860. The vines are therefore not grafted and remain one of the last testimonies of what wine once was. Here the tractor is no place and every intervention in the vineyard is done manually. The wine is vinified according to very traditional methods, which brings a unique pleasure in the mouth. We find it very fresh and subtle aromas. Only about 1300 bottles are produced yearly.”
Stephen Tanzer 93 points “Vivid yellow. Mineral-driven pear skin, jasmine and anise scents are given depth and power by notes of yellow plum and buttered toast. The palate offers intense, deeply concentrated citrus and orchard fruit flavors, with suggestions of brioche and orange pith gaining strength with air. The mineral quality adds definition to the finish, which clings with excellent persistence and a lingering floral quality.” ST
Wine Enthusiast 90 points “Yes, it’s dry, very dry. However, this well-made wine with its steely texture and tight character just needs some bottle age to give it the richness that is missing at the moment. It would be good with food now; give it at least a year in bottle after purchase to be even better.” WE
2002 in Champagne
“A magnificent vintage for champagne with near-perfect growing conditions, capped by fine dry weather at harvest. Ageworthy wines with plush fruit held in check by keen acidity.”

Vintage 2002 Champagnes Available Here Now:
Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut 2002 750ML ($399.95) $333 special, 2 bottles available
James Suckling 99 points “Super fresh, this is striking given the 10 years in the cellars; it has a fine citrus nose – plenty of lemon, grapefruit, yellow chalky notes, some lighter floral elements too. The palate is super dry (dosage at 3-4g) and there’s a silky, sherbet-like texture, smooth, fine and long. The citrus flavours give way to the driving surging acidity, thunderous acidity, really driving and powerful. The finish twists very slowly through to light-toasted cashew fruit flavours, but lemon citrus prevails. This is thrilling Champagne.” JS
Piper-Heidsieck Rare Millesime Brut 2002 750ML ($219.95) $189 special, 6 magnums available
Wine Spectator 97 points “Impeccably balanced and silky, with finely honed acidity shaping the expansive flavors of toasted brioche, crushed blackberry, lemon preserves and honey, revealing hints of Frangelico liqueur and smoked nut. Rich and vivid, with a lasting finish. Drink now through 2027. 2,500 cases made.” AN
Egly-Ouriet Tradition Grand Cru Brut 2002 1.5L ($599.95) $445 special, 2 bottles available
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 93 points “(70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay): Light yellow-gold. Fresh orchard and pit fruits on the deeply scented nose, with notes of musky rhubarb and smoky minerals emerging with air. Deeply pitched poached pear and nectarine flavors show impressive power and are lifted by notes of chalk and ginger. Packs a serious punch but manages to come off as elegant. Finishes very long, with a strong jolt of minerality and slow-building leesiness.” JR
Rene Geoffroy Extra Brut Millesime 2002 1.5L ($219.95) $189 special, 6 magnums available
Josh Raynolds–Vinous Media 94 points “Light, bright gold. Peach nectar, poached pear, passion fruit, smoky lees and white flowers on the perfumed nose. Chewy orchard and pit fruit flavors are broad and palate-staining, with a late note of Meyer lemon adding lift and cut. Finishes with lingering honey, lees and vanilla notes and excellent clarity.” JR
Wine Advocate 92 points “The 2002 Extra Brut Millesime is a rich, broad shouldered wine graced with tons of fruit. Vinification in French oak barriques gives the wine considerable depth, volume and spiciness. Layers of ripe, expressive varietal fruit flow from this rich, dramatic Champagne. A caressing, multi-dimensional finish rounds things out in style. As good as this is – and it is outstanding – I prefer Geoffroy’s wines made in steel. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier, with 2 grams per liter of dosage”WA
Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois Billecart Millesime 2002 750ML ($219.95) $189 pre-arrival special
Antonio Galloni 96 points “A mesmerizing, thrilling Champagne, the 2002 Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart is a great example of the vintage at its best. Silky and racy on the palate, yet a bit more restrained than many wines of the year, the Nicolas François Billecart remains vivid and remarkably nuanced. Brioche. apricot jam, wild flowers and honey are some of the many notes that blossom as the Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart shows off its voluptuous personality.”

Alfred Gratien Brut, Champagne 1997 750ML ($199.95) $149 special, 6 bottles available
Wine Advocate 93 points “Gratien’s 1997 Brut Millesime impresses for its direct, frank personality and huge fruit. An infant today, the 1997 is surprising for its youth. The aromas and flavors remain quite primary in this rich, vibrant Champagne. Frankly, I am amazed the 1997 is so backward. I would never have expected it. Readers should drink the 1999 and 1998 before looking to the 1997 for pleasure. I can’t wait to see how the 1997 develops. Today it is flat-out striking. The 1997 is 66% Chardonnay, 24% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. ” WA
Wine Advocate 94 points “A relatively rich, broad shouldered wine, the 1998 Brut Millesime is showing beautifully. Here the aromas and flavors have begun to develop the early hints of tertiary complexity, making the 1998 a great choice for drinking today. Suggestions of white truffles, apricot jam, hazelnuts, hard candy and dried flowers wrap around the gorgeous, striking finish. The 1998 is 60% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.” WA
Wine Enthusiast 95 points “Deutz’s top cuvée is as good as ever. Bottle aging has helped it to throw off its youthful awakwardness and develop a rounded, ripe style that is now a pleasure to drink. Pear and apricot flavors are still vibrant, along with a hint of toast. Finely structured and elegant, it’s wonderful to drink now, but it will be good at least until 2018. ”
Wine Spectator 98 points “Offers precision and finely detailed form, powered by an expansive palate of flavor. The layers of ripe crushed blackberry and glazed apricot fruit complement the saline-tinged minerality and oyster shell notes, graced by hints of pastry, honeycomb and exotic spice. Mouthwatering and persistent on the zesty finish. Drink now through 2030.” WS
James Suckling 97 points “A P2 release indicating it has been matured to the 2nd Plenitude, the middle stage of Dom Perignon’s three-phase life as defined by Richard Geoffroy. This is a wine with some real tension between complexity and freshness that makes for incredibly engaging drinking. The nose offers up a little white peppery edge from the pinot; oyster shell saline freshness, red florals, sweet smelling woody spices and brioche, spiced biscuits and subtle roasted coffee notes – impressively complex. The phenolics register on the palate as a discreetly mineral, saline character, there’s sorbet-like texture through the middle before finishing with comet-like line and length.” JS
Pol Roger Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill 2000 1.5L ($519.95) $449 special, 11 magnums available
Antonio Galloni 94 points “The first thing that is evident about the 2000 Brut Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill is its finesse and total silkiness. The 2000 is a rich, creamy and deeply expressive Winston Churchill. I don’t see the 2000 being an especially long-term ager, but it is wonderfully radiant and open today. Hints of pastry, spice, apricots and succulent ripe pears blossom on the expansive, broad-shouldered finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030.” AG
Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Millesime Brut 2004 750ML ($179.95) $139 special, 20 bottles available
Antonio Galloni 97 points “The 2004 Dom Ruinart is just as brilliant and viscerally thrilling as it has always been. If anything, the 2004 has shut down considerably over the last six months. Tightly coiled and exceptionally beautiful, the 2004 boasts fabulous intensity, class and pedigree. The flavors are vibrant, chiseled and crystalline in their precision. Time in bottle is doing wonders for the 2004. This is a tremendous showing.” AG
Wine Advocate 93 points “Another gorgeous wine, the 2004 Brut Cepages Blancs (Chardonnay) is stunningly beautiful. Rich, deep and layered, the 2004 comes alive in the glass. Lemon, dried flowers and hazelnuts wrap around the palate as this complex, utterly beguiling wine shows off its considerable personality and pedigree. Chalky notes frame the finish. This is without question one of the very best wines I have ever tasted from Fleury.”WA
The next best price is $89.99
Josh Raynolds 91 points “Green-tinged gold. Exuberant pear, white peach and honey on the nose, with anise, cherry pit and mineral qualities adding complexity. Zesty mineral-accented orchard and pit fruit flavors show very good depth and clarity, picking up a smoky element with air. Finishes sappy, broad and long, with repeating minerality and a hint of smokiness. Disgorged in October, 2013 and bottled exclusively in magnums.” JR
Stephen Tanzer 92 points “(70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir; aged for more than six years on its lees and disgorged in September, 2012): Light yellow. Vibrant cherry pit, blood orange and smoky minerals on the nose. Dry, tightly wound and focused, offering deeply pitched red fruit and citrus zest flavors that pick up smokiness and energy with air. Closes with serious power and lift, leaving sexy floral and toasty lees notes behind.” ST
Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon Brut 2004 750ML ($199.95) $169 special, 1 bottle available
Antonio Galloni 97+ points “A Champagne of crystalline precision, the 2004 Dom Pérignon once again shows off its pedigree and total class. Everything about the 2004 speaks to nuance. The flavors are bright and lifted throughout, but it is the wine’s lithe, gracious shape that stands out most. Pear, slate, white flowers, sage and crushed rocks abound in a Dom Pérignon built on cool, brisk energy. Today, the 2004 is simply dazzling, with plenty of upside for the future.” AG
Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon Brut 2005 750ML ($179.95) $149 special, 6 bottles available
James Suckling 97 points “I believe that the 2005 DP is the best since 2002, which remains the best recent vintage and is probably only eclipsed by the amazing 100-point 1996. The 2005 is a full-bodied DP with so much richness and loads of ripe fruit such as pineapple and papaya. It has a wonderful, creamy texture and a long and intense finish. It’s a Champagne that fully satisfies but at the same time challenges you with its strength, depth and persistence on the palate.”
P. Lancelot-Royer Blanc de Blancs Brut Millesime 2005 750ML ($79.95) $59 special, 10 bottles available
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 91 points “Light, bright gold. Vibrant lemon, orange zest and floral aromas are complemented by deeper notes of anise, pear skin, iodine and chamomile. Picks up a smoky nuance with air and shows an array of intense citrus and orchard fruit flavors, along with a touch of bitter quinine. Closes on a smoky note, with very good clarity and lingering floral character.” JR
Stephen Tanzer 93 points “Light, bright orange. Intense, spice-accented aromas of candied orange, redcurrant and fresh flowers, with sneaky mineral and leesy notes. Supple and expansive, offering vibrant citrus fruit and red berry flavors with complicating notes of cinnamon and pear skin. Finishes silky and long, with resonating spiciness and excellent clarity.” ST
Wine Advocate 92 points “The 2004 Brut Rose Extra Cuvee de Reserve is quite fruity and vinous at first but then the minerality kicks in, giving the wine its energy and sense of focus. Crushed flowers, spices and mint unfold in the glass, adding complexity and nuance. Overall, this is a fairly delicate, feminine style of Rose that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or alongside a meal. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.”WA

Big Bottles of Beautiful Wine
Bergstrom Wines ‘Cumberland’ Reserve Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton District 2013 1.5L ($99.95) $89 special, 5 magnums available
Winery note “The 2013 Cumberland Reserve is dark red cherry in color and showcases an explosive and heady aromatic profile of fresh black cherries, red raspberries a slight kirsch note and ripe blueberries. The fruit character is bright and pure and only slightly lifted and framed by great Oregon spice and loamy earth character which adds depth and dimension to this very promising wine. In the mouth the wine is a fantastic expression of pure Oregon Pinot Noir with great verve and lift and vibrancy showing off rich, ripe berry flavors and a suave velvet-like structure which caresses the palate with its succulence but also promises a great future with its minerality and sweet tannins. Drink now-2019+”
Josh Raynolds–Vinous 92 points “Bright red. Suave, highly perfumed scents of red and dark berry preserves, Asian spices and cola, with a sexy floral overtone. Sweet and focused on the palate, offering intense black raspberry and rose pastille flavors and a zesty spicy quality. The berry and floral notes repeat emphatically on a very long, smooth, appealingly sweet finish that’s framed by silky, harmonious tannins.”
Stephen Tanzer 93 points “Brilliant ruby-red. Smoke- and spice-accented aromas of blackberry, cherry-cola and fresh lavender, with a hint of spicecake in the background. Silky, seamless and expansive, displaying intense red and dark berry flavors and a hint of allspice. Puts on weigh with aeration while maintaining vivacity. The mineral and floral qualities build on the persistent finish, which is firmed by fine-grained, harmonious tannins.” ST
Wine Advocate 92 points “The 2011 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve is a vineyard parcel and barrel selection. It was picked October 27 at 22 Brix and 100% de-stemmed, undergoing 45% new French oak. It has quite a dense bouquet with plenty of raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit that is well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannin. There is plenty of backbone here, but it is very focused and harmonious with superb tension on the finish. This is an excellent contribution to the vintage—one of the best of Belle Pente’s current releases and well worth hunting down.”
Winery note “Four Winds Vineyard – 100% Pommard clone. Well, we couldn’t let Four Winds Chardonnay have ALL the fun! Classic Pinot in nature, this wine displays a beautiful ruby color indicative of the high-elevation sedimentary soils, and delivers balanced fruit with texture and acidity. 15-20% whole cluster in the fermentation gives the wine additional aromatic layers and texture. 125 cases made.”
Winery note “Gehrts Vineyard shares a fence line with the acclaimed Domaine Drouhin in what we like to call the “Grand Cru” district of the Dundee Hills. Farmed and managed by Richard and Nancy Gehrts, we have the privilege of not only receiving amazing fruit every year, but have witnessed the evolution of this spectacular site as it has gained its pedigree and prominence as a magical vineyard.”
Winery note: 100% Pommard clone in the Dundee Hills AVA; Barrel aged for 19 months, no new oak. La Colina was our very first vineyard contract in 2005 and we proudly continue to grow our holdings within this beautiful south Dundee Hills site. In addition to being a sentimental favorite of ours, LaColina has quietly become a cornerstone vineyard for the Crowley brand as it continues to deliver the highest quality fruit year in and year out. Farmed and managed by George Hillberry.

Beautiful on the nose, with notions of ground pepper, wild herbs, minerality and smoked plum and dark fruit, it’s medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and has plenty of tannin that comes through on the finish. Similar in style to a lighter-weight 2010, drink this beauty anytime over the coming 12-15 years.” JD
