Australia’s Cult Winery: Standish

Fèlsina Sale

Fèlsina is a leader in Chianti’s quality revolution, emphasizing terroir and the expressive potential of Sangiovese with their impressive cuvées. Their wines offer beauty and boldness in their youth with a long track record of rewarding cellar potential. They offer some of the most collectible wines in the appellation but at far more consumer-friendly price points than their peers (Isole e Olena and Castello di Ama’s top Gran Seleziones average well over double Felsina’s Colonia and don’t get us started on Fontalloro, their 100% Sangiovese Toscana IGT). Few producers worldwide can claim to have the consistent quality of Fèlsina. We’re proud to be longtime supporters of their work.

The 100% Sangiovese Fontalloro is a Brunello-drinker’s dream, with explosive aromatics and lots of power to back it up.

Louis Barroul heads the estate as the 14th generation of his family to do so. Professionals and reviewers consider him one of the region’s greatest winemakers who offers consistently excellent quality and value across the entire portfolio.

Barroul crafts rich and powerful wines with undeniable terroir signatures. To highlight these varying terroirs, the estate bottles a handful of single-vineyard Gigondas, which are the most interesting and coveted wines in the portfolio.

The Wine Independent 96+ points
“Velvety burnished gold in color with near imperceptible fine bubbles, the Grand Année 2015 is a 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay blend of 11 crus, 79% Grands Cru and 21% Premiers Crus, that is 100% barrel fermented, aged 7 years on lees and finished with an 8 grams per liter dosage…”
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 96 points “…There’s real density and textural richness here. This will be a fascinating vintage to follow…”
Wine Spectator 96 points “This expressive Champagne features a rich, well-spiced range of flavors chiseled by well-honed, integrated acidity, which lends a racy feel to the ripe black cherry and mulberry fruit and notes of salted almond, pink grapefruit granita, crystallized honey and pickled ginger that ride the raw silk–like mousse…”
James Suckling 96 points “…Lifted by fresh acidity on the medium-bodied palate, the wine keeps unfolding in toasted walnuts, honey and a dash of bitter marmalade.

Affordable Luxury from the Pfalz: Müller-Catoir 11-9-25

Müller-Catoir Winery in the Pfalz

I remember the first time I drank of a bottle of Müller-Catoir Scheurebe and said to myself, “Wow, I didn’t know know this grape could achieve such heights”. I’ve since had at least 3 separate experiences with wines from Müller-Catoir, and I remain dumbfounded at the quality and complexity they’re able to conjure from every varietal they harvest. This is truly a winery which continues to deliver moments of wonder every time I hold a new bottle. Fortunately, we’ve got quite a diverse selection here at Vinopolis to explore.

Based in the Pfalz village of Haardt, at the edge of the Palatinate Forest, the winery has been a benchmark for the region for nearly 250 years.
