Raul Perez:

The Hottest Winemaker in Spain

Raul Perez has emerged as one of the most exciting Spanish winemakers of the last few years.  He’s done it in an interesting way: not by making over-the-top big fruit and oak bombs, but rather by honing in on the terroirs in Galicia, a relatively unromantic vinicultural region.

Three 2017 Chateauneuf Stars
Peter Weygandt knows something about great Chateauneuf du Pape.  He’s a partner in St. Theodoric, one of our all-time favorite producers (and as close to Rayas as you can get) and imports a fantastic selection of wines from the Southern Rhone.  His three core CdP estates are Charvin, Ferrand and Raymond Usseglio, all of whom produce excellent wines at superb prices every year.

Charvin is the most resolutely old-school of the bunch, making wines that demand age but reward it with classically mature flavors and aromas.

We Caught a Real Steal Deal for This Newsletter

Castello di Gabbiano is one of the most notable producers of Chianti Classico—a historic estate that’s pushed forward into the 21st century as one of the most important producers of Chianti.  Their top wine is the Chianti Gran Selezione “Bellezza,” a 100% Sangiovese that challenges the best in Brunello and Chianti.  These are wines that drink well young but also will reward bottle age.

We’re offering a mini-vertical of the wines from two excellent vintages at astounding pricing—up to $22 less than the next best price online.
