Champagne Marguet

Subscriber Special Preview Offer

Benoit Marguet farms several hectares of Ambonnay vineyards and two hectare of Bouzy (eight of the total are farmed biodynamically), purchasing small amounts of certified organic or organically farmed fruit. In the cellar, he works according to the lunar calendar with minimal sulfur and ages the wines in barrel for added complexity, eschewing stainless steel. The wines are full of character, vividly expressing their Grand Cru terroir, with open and easy appeal right from the start.

Pago Casa Gran

Pago Casa Gran is not a household name in the United States, even amongst avid Spanish wine drinkers. But this has nothing to do with the quality or profundity of the wines. Instead, they remain firmly under-the-radar because they are so difficult to find. But this fact will undoubtedly change once more people have had the opportunity to taste them.

Hailing from Valencia, an up-and-coming yet still underappreciated region of Spain, Pago Casa Gran represents everything that we love about contemporary Spanish wine.

“The clarity of the ripe blackcurrants, black cherries and flowers in the nose is entrancing. Lavender, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that run long and straight through the wine, providing brightness and focus.

2018 Vincent Paris

Vincent Paris is one of the top winemakers in the Northern Rhone.  Working primarily in Cornas, the wines have everything we love about Northern Rhone Syrah packaged in a clean, direct style.  He has the benefit of incredible vineyard material, too, as he now works the vineyards that his uncle, Robert Michel, made famous.  Stylistically, there’s definitely some of that old-school Michel rusticity, but overall, his wines are far more polished and in line with what we think of as good modern Cornas, sans new oak.

Hundred Acres

Hundred Acre’s wines are as unique and filled with personality as their winemaker, Jayson Woodbridge. Big, bold, rich and textured, they’re among the most coveted wines we offer.  We were already offering their 100-point 2013 Wraith Cabernet Sauvignon well below any other listing in the USA, and now we’ve reduced the price even further.  As a result, we don’t expect our limited quantity to last much longer.

Hundred Acre ‘Wraith’ Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2013 750ML ($599.95) Was $549, Now $469
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate 100 points
“Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Wraith leaps from the glass with gregarious black and red cherries, mulberries, black currant cordial, red roses and lavender scents with layers of crushed rocks and earthy sparks.
