Weingut Keller

Keller is one of those wineries we can’t get enough of—the wines are fantastic and they don’t stick around very long once (if) they hit the shelves.  The recently arrived wines include the best-in-class-value Von der Fels, a (very) dry wine made exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards.  This edition is sourced mostly from Kirschspiel and displays true GG character at a much, much lower pricing.  We’ve also got the entry-level Estate Trocken Riesling, perpetual staff-pick Silvaner and our first ever allocation of their savory/salty vom Muscheligen Kalk bottling—all in stock and ready for your cellar.

“If I had to choose one wine to show how great dry German Riesling can be I would choose a Keller Riesling.

Smart & Stunning Buys:

Introducing the Mijita Wine Co.

Oregon is one of the few states where the major metropolitan area sits next door to an internationally notable winemaking region, and where buying direct from the winemakers is the happy norm rather than the exception. We capitalize on this as much as possible, heavily supporting the folks at Cameron, Goodfellow, Hundred Suns, Sequitur, Crowley, and more, without a middleman in between. These aren’t just brands or sales data to us, these are people and places we love and respect.

It’s equally thrilling to watch the launch of future shining stars, especially by folks we deeply admire such as Lizzy Esqueda.

2018 Burlotto Barolo

G.B. Burlotto was considered among the absolute greatest winemakers in the world for the seventy plus years he was at the helm. After his passing in 1927, the winery and his hometown of Verduno slipped into obscurity. Now Fabio Alessandria, the great-great-grandson has taken over and Burlotto regained the place it deserves among the top echelon of small producers in the Piedmont.

Arriving Friday, October 14th from G. B. Burlotto:

G. B. Burlotto Barolo DOCG, Piedmont 2018 750ml $69 pre-arrival special, only 2 bottles available

“Heady aromas of blue flower, perfumed berry, balsamic herb and sandalwood are just some of the aromas that lift out of the glass on this fragrant, stunning red.

Wine Enthusiast 94 points
“This elegant wine opens with a subtle but almost lifted note of ripe red cherry. The palate frames this heightened note of cherry freshness with a filigreed frame of fine, still slightly crunchy tannin and its attendant smokiness. The entire structure lets the cherry fruit blossom. -Anne Krebiehl MW”
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 91-93 points “The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Bousselots is also showing very well, soaring from the glass with a dramatic bouquet of raspberries, black truffles, dark chocolate, rich soils tones and a deft framing of toasty new oak.

James Suckling 99 points “Extremely floral and aromatic with violets and lavender throughout. Black olives, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, very fine-grained tannins that run the length of the wine. Goes on for minutes. A greenish undertone comes out at the end with some spearmint, green tea and green olive.
