Cascina delle Rose
Cascina delle Rose Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 750ml $36 special, 14 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 89 points “The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is an attractive, deeply aromatic wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, sweet red-tone fruit, spice and hard candy lend an exotic flair. This mid-weight Langhe Nebbiolo is a charmer. (Drink between 2024-2028).”
Cascina delle Rose Marcorino, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml $89 special, 10 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “A new entry for Cascina delle Rose, the fragrant 2021 Marcorino opens with enticing aromas of violet, rose, menthol and pine forest. Made with grapes hailing from the Marcorino cru in Neive, it showcases the estate’s hallmark elegance and winemaker Davide Sobrino’s delicate hand, delivering juicy raspberry, succulent red cherry, star anise and a hint of almond before a savory mineral close. It’s linear and loaded with energy and finesse thanks to firm, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity.”
Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco Rio Sordo, Barbaresco DOCG 2020 750ml $74.50 special, 19 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 95 points “This is Cascina delle Rose’s other single-vineyard wine from a second nearby site in the village of Barbaresco. The 2020 Barbaresco Rio Sordo is slightly more linear and streamlined compared to the Tre Stelle in this vintage. That wine felt more immediate to me, but the Rio Sordo feels more long-term thanks to elegant fruit, crushed stone and sweet licorice aromas it offers.”
Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco Rio Sordo, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml $89 special, 19 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “The 2021 Cascina delle Rose Rio Sordo is another stunner from this fantastic estate starting with its compelling aromas of forest berry, camphor, wild rose and dark exotic spice. More firmly structured than Tre Stelle and Marcorino, it has tightly wound, fine-grained tannins that support juicy Morello cherry, raspberry, licorice and ground clove while fresh acidity keeps it balanced and energized. This needs a little more time to fully come together and will age beautifully.”
Cascina delle Rose Tre Stelle, Barbaresco DOCG 2020 750ml $74.50 special, 10 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 94 points “The 2020 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a delight to drink. The character of this vintage is more accessible for sure, and the fruit is very bright and supple. But there’s no harm in drinking this warm-vintage release of 7,500 bottles on the early side while all its primary aromas are so intact and enticing. The tannins are soft, and the wine shows medium richness to close.”
Cascina delle Rose Tre Stelle, Barbaresco DOCG 2021 750ml $89 special, 5 bottles in stock now
Kerin O’Keefe 97 points “Racy, refined and radiant, the already accessible 2021 Tre Stelle from Cascina delle Rose offers enticing scents of rose, crushed mint, wild cherry and a whiff of vineyard dust. All about finesse, the radiant palate delivers succulent red cherry, cranberry, white pepper and star anise set against well integrated, elegant tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it beautifully balanced and vibrant.”

Rosé Highlights
Domaine de Fenouillet Ventoux Rose, Rhone 2024 750ml $16.50 special, 20 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “This rosé is vinified partially by direct press and partially by ‘saignée’, the juice is naturally clarified after a cold ‘débourbage’ of 24 hours, the wine ferments at temperature that never exceeds 16 degrees Celsius and then it is aged on the fine lees for four to six months before bottling. It is a blend of 50% Cinsault, 40% Grenache and 10% Syrah, all of which is planted to soils of clay, limestone and silex. Production is limited: we import approximately 6,000 bottles per annum for the US market.”
Over three cases in stock might seem like a lot, but this is one of our top-selling rosés every year and it always runs out first…
Le Galantin Bandol Rose, Provence 2024 750ml $24 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Importer Note “Around 50% Mourvèdre, 25% Cinsault and 25% Grenache, from vines planted on southwest facing hillsides, with clay/limestone soil. The grapes are hand-harvested, after which the bunches are cooled down to 50C for a two day cold soak in order to extract fruit, color and aromatics. The juice is then racked off and the grapes are pressed to stainless steel tanks. 10% of the wine is saignée, the rest come from grapes treated as for making white wine.”
Goodfellow Family Cellars Rosé of Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml $18 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Peach blossoms, wild strawberries, star fruit, green melon, light florals. This is very pretty in the nose, light bodied with plenty of flavor, and brightly refreshing to drink. The bottle disappears quickly. Perfect for sunny days watching the hummingbirds, grilling chicken, and sushi. 82% direct press from the blanc de noir program and 18% saignee from 100% whole cluster ferments of Whistling Ridge and Durant. 12.3% abv and 266 cases produced.”
San Giorgio Pinot Grigio Rose delle Venezie IGT 2024 750ml $11.90 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Importer Note “Incredibly pale colour with a youthful, fresh, pear, lemon and delicate raspberry aroma. The palate is pretty and lively with a suggestion of cherry stones and cherry blossom. Dry and delicate.”
Illahe Estate Tempranillo Rosé, Willamette Valley 2024 750ml $21.90 special, 15 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Oregon’s best rosé of tempranillo is ready to delight again after its trip through stainless tanks and neutral oak barrels. This year’s offering has notes of strawberry, blood orange, guava, mango, and watermelon rind with crisp, refreshing acidity. It is produced in 25% neutral barrel, 75% stainless steel, and directly pressed. The acidity keeps this wine fresh and alive, but the barrel fermentation helps to balance the mouth and keep it rich.”
Mas de Valeriole ‘Ve’ Rose, IGP Mediterranee 2024 750ml $14.50 special, 15 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “‘Vé’—a local Provençal expression meaning ‘Look at that!’—is a blend of 70% Caladoc (a crossing of Grenache and Malbec), 15% Merlot, and 15% Marselan (a crossing of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon) from soils of sand and loam. Harvested at night to ensure that the bunches are cool upon entry to the winery, ‘Vé’ is pressed directly and given a brief passage in stainless steel before bottling. Clocking in at a modest 13% alcohol, it offers bright, salt-tinged flavors of raspberry and ripe citrus fruits, with a sneakily long finish given its modest price.”
Marietta Cellars Old Vine Ranch Rosé, California 2024 750ml $16 special, 23 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “With a heritage that speaks to both tradition and innovation, this wine brings together the best of old-world grace and the bold, pioneering spirit of California. Juicy and vibrant, it shines on any table, offering layers of complexity and elegance that make it a perfect pairing for both intimate dinners and festive gatherings. Every sip is a reflection of craftsmanship and a tribute to the timeless appeal of California’s vineyards. Stonefruit, citrus, mineral.”
Bodegas Olivares Rosado, Jumilla 2024 750ml $14 special, 20 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 90 points “The bright rosé 2024 Rosado is young and fruit-driven, with freshness despite being from the third dry and warm vintage in a row when they got very low yields. It’s pure Garnacha from free-run juice with 12.5% alcohol, with notes of roses and wild herbs, a little reductive, with a soft palate, balanced and clean. It’s closed with a screw cap. 60,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2024.”
Domaines Ott Chateau de Selle Rosé, Cotes de Provence 2023 750ml $54.50 special, 16 bottles in stock now
Owen Bargreen 93 points “The brilliant 2023 Cotes de Provence Rose ‘Chateau de Selle’ is a beauty that combines 55% Grenache with 25% Cinsault, 14% Mourvedre, and 6% Syrah. It is elegant and mineral-laden stuff that offers a silky texture alongside serious salty stone character, with blood orange peel, ripe strawberry and salted green melon flavors. Gorgeous now in its vibrant youth, enjoy over the next eight plus years to come.”

Envinate ‘Palo Blanco’, Canary Islands 2023 750ml $51.90 special, 9 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 98+ points “The grapes for the 2023 Palo Blanco were harvested earlier than ever, picked even earlier than the grapes from Taganana. It was a warm year, but the wine feels more like it’s from a cool climate; it has a moderate 11.5% alcohol and is volcanic and less reductive than in previous years, fine-boned and sharp, with a vibrant palate, effervescent acidity (7.1 grams and a pH of 3.05) and a dry chalkiness that gives it salinity. It’s approachable but should also age in bottle. 13,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.”
Importer Note “From four parcels of 100+ year-old vines near Los Realejos.”
Envinate ‘Albahra’ Tinto, Vinos Mediterraneos 2023 750ml $26 special, 28 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 94 points “After the Chingao bottling, there is a creamy and spicy whiff in the 2023 Albahra, which makes it feel more mainstream. It’s juicy and aromatic and has a medium-bodied palate, contained ripeness, 13% alcohol and good balance, with some fine-grained tannins. Last year, they introduced some white Pardilla grapes in the blend that seem to have given it freshness and a kick in the palate, which is Mediterranean, with good freshness and a balanced mouthfeel. 67,000 bottles and 600 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2024.”
Envinate ‘Lousas’ Vina de Aldea, Galicia 2023 750ml $41.90 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Envinate ‘Lousas’ Vina de Aldea, Galicia 2023 1.5L $99 special, 3 magnums in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 94-96 points “I tasted a very promising barrel sample of the 2023 Lousas Viñas de Aldea, cropped from a more Atlantic, cooler and rainier year (especially when compared with the super warm and dry 2022). Right now, it’s super primary (the blend will have some 40% to 45% wine from concrete), and they are slowly introducing larger oak foudres (3,000 liters) and lowering the impact of the oak in the wine. This has very good freshness, purity and elegance, reminiscent of past vintages like 2021 or 2016. It has terrific balance. There will be around 32,000 bottles that should be filled in November 2024.”
Espectacle del Montsant, Montsant 2019 750ml $125 special, 21 bottles in stock now
Catalonia Garnacha, furnished by Rene Barbier & Clos Mogador.
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 99 points “It’s always an exciting moment tasting a new vintage of the wine from one of the most beautiful vineyards in Montsant, and the 2019 Espectacle del Montsant didn’t disappoint. It’s always Mediterranean, heady and ripe, decadent and hedonistic. 2019 was a warm and quite classical vintage in the zone, with good ripeness (the wine’s label lists 15.5% alcohol), and the wine is hedonistic, nuanced and complex, with very good acidity, which is one of the characteristics that makes this vintage so complete. Despite everything, the wine is medium to full-bodied and comes through as perfumed and ethereal. They do long macerations and long aging in foudre. 2019 is a very serious vintage for this wine; it’s a little closed and needs time in the glass, and it’s tight and seamless, a little austere for what this wine usually is. This is truly spectacular.”
Dominio de Pingus ‘Flor de Pingus’, Ribera del Duero 2020 750ml $108 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 94+ points “There is around 20% new oak in the 2020 Flor de Pingus, and because it has a little younger vines (there was a land-consolidation project in La Horra in 2006!), there’ll be some Garnacha starting in 2021 and maybe some oak vats for aging too. All this shows the direction, where he found structure and volume in the palate, with textured tannins. It’s harmonious and elegant, aromatic and floral, perfumed and showy, with contained ripeness and around 14% alcohol. The palate is quite powerful, with abundant but fine tannins. 110,000 bottles were filled in July 2022.”
Remelluri Reserva, Rioja DOCa 2016 750ml $44.50 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 93+ points “The estate red 2016 Reserva comes from a late growing season and was produced with local varieties like Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and others from their 86 hectares of vineyards at 590 to 805 meters in altitude on limestone, sandstone and marl soils. The grapes were picked late with good ripeness and health and fermented with natural yeasts in stainless steel and open-top oak vats and then matured in oak containers of different sizes for 20 to 21 months. These are more classical wines, with a more evolved nose, with high ripeness and some balsamic and medicinal notes. It has a dusty palate with Nebbiolo-like tannins. 300,000 bottles and 8,200 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2019.”
Raul Perez ‘Ultreia de Valtuille’, Bierzo 2021 750ml $69 special, 35 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 97 points “The 2021 Ultreia Valtuille was produced with the clay part of their Villegas plot, as the sandy part was used for the new Ultreia Villegas bottling but introduced the lower part of the vineyard with more soil and more clay. They produced more or less the same amount as in previous years, some 18 barriques; but in 2021, they introduced foudres for part of the wine, and in this first year, the foudre was newer (they used it to ferment a white before). They also started renewing their barrels, so the wines show a little more oak than usual. It has moderate alcohol and mellow acidity, and it seems like the longer cycle and the slow ripening burned some acidity.”
Vina Zorzal Corral de los Altos, Navarra 2018 750ml $24 special, 24 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 92 points “All the guest winemakers that take part in the Lecciones de Vuelo joint venture with Viña Zorzal are offered to produce their interpretation of the paraje Corral de los Altos in Fitero. The 2018 Corral de los Altos is Zorzal’s own interpretation of a 45-year-old plot of 2.1 hectares of Garnacha planted on a north-facing stony part of the village. The grapes fermented in stainless steel with some 25% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in seven used (second and third use) 500-liter oak barrels. This has contained ripeness and a medium to full-bodied palate with the classical chalky tannins and texture from the limestone-rich soils and the length and tastiness they provide.”
Alvear Asuncion Oloroso, Montilla-Moriles NV 375ml $16 special, 17 half-bottles in stock now
Wine Enthusiast Top 100 in 2021
Wine Enthusiast 93 points “A burnished orange-meets-tawny color and lively aromas of caramel and apricot get this oloroso off to a fine start. A richly intense palate with bold acidity offers plenty of depth, while toasty flavors of coffee and walnuts finish with notes of chocolate and café latte. Overall, this is stylish and a cut above.”

“Cascina delle Rose is without question one of the emerging estates in Barbaresco. Readers who have not tasted these wines should make a point of doing so, as they encapsulate everything that makes Barbaresco so alluring.”

Cascina delle Rose
The Cascina delle Rose estate in Barbaresco crafts charming and soulful wines that are easy to love, drink, and enjoy. To be sure, the wines aren’t for everyone, especially if power and heft are your preferences. These lean, well, lean, but don’t scrimp on the aromatic complexity or beauty.
The winemaking here is extremely traditional, and the vineyard management fully organic. These are wines that are striving for beauty and achieve it without sacrificing their drinkability and the ability to satisfy. They offer soaring aromatics and beautiful textures—and are surprisingly age-worthy for such ethereal bottlings.
The Rizzolio family purchased the estate in the 1940s, but didn’t produce commercial releases until the 1980s when the vines were mature enough to offer consist and complex crops. Today, the estate is led by Giovanna Rizzolio alongside her partner, Italo Sobrino, and their sons, Riccardo and Davide.
As with most of the Piemonte, Cascina delle Rose has excelled in recent vintages, producing some of the best wines in the history of the winery. Lovers of boutique Piedmontese producers take note—this is a true family estate doing all the right things.

As the production is very limited, it is always offered first to our historical customers. Sensory notes: Bright and intense yellow, with golden reflections. Elegant floral notes, jasmine, hints of sweet citrus peel, white peach and acacia honey. Intriguing structure, full of flavors. Round and balanced, savory and with a long finish.”

Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 91 points “The 2022 GR-10 Blanco has a deeper color but lower alcohol (13.5%) than the 2023 I tasted next to it. Both years had similar cycles, and this one feels a little fresher, with notes of pollen and honey denoting the additional age. It’s round and juicy, with supple flavors and the characteristic bitter twist in the finish. 1,850 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2023.”
Winery Notes ” …a coupage of Grenache and the indigenous catalan varieties Parellada and Macabeo made according to the traditional method. A vintage wine carefully matured in underground cellars on its lees during 18 months and finally bottled with zero dosage … Thanks to its aromatic and richness nose with scents of strawberry and raspberry that follow through onto the palate and then develops into a wonderfully intense and concentrated pastry finish and spicy background.”

Bollinger La Grande Annee Brut 2015 1.5L $419 special, 2 magnums in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 96 points “Bollinger’s 2015 Brut Grand Année is an intriguing wine in that is clearly reflects the decision to pick on the later side in order to avoid vegetal notes derived from the mismatch of alcoholic and phenolic ripeness. “Balance was hard to achieve in 2015,” Chef de Cave Denis Bunner notes. “At 10% in sugar, the fruit was simply not ripe. We had to wait to reach the optimal window of ripeness.” Bunner also opted to increase the Chardonnay, so the blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, as opposed to the more typical 70/30 blend, with more Verzenay than Aÿ in the Pinots. Dried citrus peel, sage, menthol, sage, tangerine peel and spice build with some coaxing. Light tropical overtones develop with aeration. There’s real density and textural richness here. This will be a fascinating vintage to follow. Stylistically, it is the complete opposite from the much more linear 2014 that precedes it. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: May 2023. Drink: 2028-2040.”
Bérêche et Fils Reflet d’Antan Brut NV (2018-Base) 1.5L $849 special, 1 magnum in stock now
Importer Note “Arguably the most original of all in this lineup of singular Champagnes is the Reflet d’Antan, one-third each of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, drawn from a perpetual reserve of 600-liter barrels begun in 1985 by Raphae¨l’s and Vincent’s father, Jean- Pierre.”
Billecart-Salmon ‘Cuvee Elisabeth Salmon’ Brut Rose Millésime 2012 1.5L $469 special, 1 magnum in stock now
Yohan Castaing-Wine Advocate 97 points “A blend of 45% Pinot Noir and 55% Chardonnay, the 2012 Brut Rosé Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon is a real success, wafting from the glass with aromas of red berries, rose, peony, orange blood and dried flowers. Medium to full-bodied, vinous and broad, it’s dense and deep with a multidimensional core of fruit, racy acids and a textural structure, concluding with a long, delicate, mouthwatering finish. This is one of the finest rosé I’ve tasted at this address. Kudos! Drink: 2024-2054.”
Christophe Baron ‘Les Alouettes’ Brut Nature 2019 1.5L $269 special, 2 magnums in stock now
James Suckling 97 points “This is a supremely poised and elegant Champagne. Lots of grapefruit, honeycomb, white tea, citron peel, white apricots and salted almonds here, yet it’s linear and racy, with tight bubbles and a cool yet intense and very long finish. 100% pinot meunier from a vineyard planted in 1968. From organically grown grapes. In magnums only. Zero dosage. Disgorged May 2023. Drink or hold.”
Benoit Dehu ‘La Rue des Noyers’ NV (2016) 1.5L $269 special, 6 magnums in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94 points “The NV (2016) Cuvée La Rue des Noyers, 100% Meunier, is bright, effusive and full of energy. In 2016, the Rue des Noyers is not as overt as it can be, but instead makes its case with energy and verve more than sheer power. I find it especially distinctive and elegant. Exotic dried flowers, ginger, apricot and spice linger. There is so much to like, and also so much to look forward to as the 2016 develops in the cellar. No dosage. Disgorged: May, 2021. (Drink between 2022-2030).”
Diebolt-Vallois ‘Fleur de Passion’ Blanc de Blancs Brut 2008 1.5L $799 special, 1 magnum in stock now

This Blanc de Blancs, 100% 2008 harvest, is vinified in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation nor filtration. This bottling in 2009 is prolonged by an ageing on lees during 13 years in our cellars… The Champagne Fleur de Passion is the jewel in the range from the house of Diebolt-Vallois. It is only made in the very best years. This wine is created entirely in barrel, following the major principles of the first wine Jacques Diebolt made together with his grandfather in 1953. Fleur de Passion is a precious and delicate champagne, it is complex, intense and long on the palate. 100% chardonnay.”
