Evesham Wood & Haden Fig
After working with Russ for several years, Erin Nuccio took over as winemaker and owner of Evesham Wood in 2010 while developing his own original label, Haden Fig. Under Erin’s stewardship, the already topnotch winery has continued to improve, showcasing the profound terroir of the land.
The estate vineyard, Le Puits Sec, is planted on an east facing slope with iron-rich soils overlooking the Willamette River. It is certified organic and, as a founding member of the Deep Roots Coalition, is dry farmed.
While the Evesham Wood wines tend toward elegance and the Haden Fig wines towards more fruit-forward notes, both are expressive examples of their (all dry-farmed) vineyards. Erin’s aim is to continue in the style of minimal intervention at optimal (not over-) ripeness and reduced yields to allow vineyards to express themselves.
Erin Nuccio is doing something harder than founding a revered wine label: keeping and improving the standards that made Evesham Wood famous. We’re proud to carry an extensive lineup from this benchmark estate, as well as gorgeous selections from Haden Fig—all of which are on sale now!

Winery Note “This vintage of the Willamette Valley blend shows a bright nose with cherry, red apple, fresh flowers, and a touch of loam along with a textural creamy/silkiness component that’s balanced by juicy acid. Showing well now, watch this wine evolve over the next three months to 8-10 years.”
Evesham Wood Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $33, that’s $31.35 at 5% off and $29.70 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Decanter 93 points “One of the best deals in American Pinot Noir, the Evesham Wood Willamette Valley bottling amazes in the $25 range. This wine is an assemblage from the top sites used in the Evesham Wood and Haden Fig single-vineyard bottlings, blended to give a picture of a year in the valley. This wine punches far above its weight class, with savoury herbs and soaring florals on the nose, complemented by mint, thyme, and white pepper. The palate is filled with electric red fruits, tart cranberries, blood orange, and a tremendous salty minerality that cuts through the fruit brilliantly. One of the most under-the-radar talents in the country, Erin Nuccio, of both Evesham Wood and Haden Fig, continues to make some of the Valley’s best wines and definitively produces the best values in the region.”

Evesham Wood Illahe Vineyard Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $38, that’s $36.10 at 5% off and $34.20 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 92-94 points “The 2023 Pinot Noir Illahe Vineyard is vibrant in the glass, mixing sweet lavender and crushed stone with nuances of blood orange and crushed blackberries. Perfumed and lifted, it offers crunchy mineral tones and violet-laced wild berry fruit on the nose. Fine-grained tannins stain the palate as a hint of licorice and tart cherry concentration pinches at the cheeks. Tasted from barrel. (Drink between 2028-2038).”
Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Decanter 96 points “Le Puits Sec is the main estate vineyard at Evesham Wood, planted by founder Russ Rainey in 1986 on its own roots, with additional plantings in 1991 to three different Dijon clone Pinot Noirs. It’s certified organic and dry-farmed. Elegance abounds in the aromatics, with a melange of fresh red berries, blood orange and resonant notes of forest floor. Stunning on the palate with mouthfuls of fresh woodland berry fruits, dashes of savoury mint and soaring notes of fresh cranberry and spicy blood orange. Exotic spices lead the finish with touches of sea salt. (Drink between 2025-2036).”
Evesham Wood Sojeau Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $44, that’s $41.80 at 5% off and $39.60 at 10% off, 8 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 92-94 points “The 2023 Pinot Noir Sojeau Vineyard, tasted from barrel, is darkly floral, with depths of crushed blackberry and cherry complicated by citrusy spice. It is round and soothing, mixing saline mineral tones with tart wild berry fruit over a stream of brisk acidity. The finish is perfumed and long, with lasting concentration and crunchy tannins that add form. A gorgeous wine in the making. (Drink between 2028-2038).”

Haden Fig Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $24, that’s $22.80 at 5% off and $21.60 at 10% off, 16 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “2023 was a curious vintage whose budbreak was 6 weeks late, flowering was within historic averages, and — amazingly! — harvest was right on time. We try to use this wine as our looking glass to figure out what is yet to come from the other HF and EW wines that are still in barrel. We sorted and direct pressed their Chardonnay and let the gross lees settle out overnight before moving the juice to neutral French barrels and third-use tonneau. This bottle strikes out with custard, mirabelle, candied quince, and lemon curd before settling on to the palate with yellow apple, peach and nectarine flesh, and sweet corn ice cream.”

Haden Fig Juliette Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Clive Pursehouse-Decanter 96 points “Erin Nuccio, one of the most under-the-radar talents in the country, makes some of the Valley’s best wines, which also offer among the best value in the region. The Juliette is from Mahonia Vineyard, which dates to 1985 and includes some of the Willamette’s earliest Dijon clones. A selection of the top Chardonnays, it spends extended time on the lees in neutral oak with no stirring. Intense aromatics of lemon curd, smoky flint and a note of pineapple. High-toned citrus cream flavours, sea spray minerality and dazzling texture frame savoury lemon verbena and lemongrass. (Drink between 2025-2036).”

Haden Fig Cortell Rose Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 15 bottles in stock now
Paul Gregutt 94 points “Aromatically dense with plush scents of blackberries and sassafras, the flavors bomb the palate with more of the same and black plum (skin and flesh), mocha and clean earth. A cascade of layered and balanced highlights, instantly appealing yet structured to age. Jessica Cortell is a much-admired vineyard manager and this fruit is from her own vineyard.”

Haden Fig Cancilla Vineyard Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $38, that’s $36.10 at 5% off and $34.20 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Decanter 95 points “Such finery and complexity, the wines of Haden Fig consistently over-deliver. Outlandishly aromatic for such a young wine, there are effusive red fruits, fresh cranberries, and a piquant squeeze of blood orange, alongside wild herbal tones and briny fresh ocean air. The palate is linear and electrifying, with pulsing energy, taut red berries, and sapid wild blue fruits, all set against a core of mineral salinity and dazzling acidity that lifts this wine to tremendous heights. Proof positive that Erin Nuccio is a winemaker’s winemaker. (Drink between 2025-2035).”
