Arnot-Roberts
Started by childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts in 2001, they’ve quickly established themselves as some of the best producers of restrained and elegant small-parcel wines. In 2013 the San Francisco Chronicle named them “Winemakers of the Year” in recognition of the quality and consistency of the wines they’re producing, and they’ve racked up even more accolades from national reviewers.
The wines show spunk and backbone, nothing soft and fruity. The acidity and tannin evoke the great wines of France over their plusher peers. These are serious wines that are built to age—which is how they’ve developed such a following. Given a couple years in the cellar, these blossom into wines that rival the best in the world.
We get painfully small allocations every year, only a couple of barrels are made of each wine, but wanted to share the love. Pop over to our webstore while these on to our three-day sale.
“Arnot-Roberts has become a leading force in producing understated, charming wines from some of California’s most prized vineyard sources.” –Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate

Arnot-Roberts Randle Hill Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, Yorkville Highlands 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 7 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The gnarled old Sauvignon Blanc vines at the Randle Hill Vineyard were planted in 1982 in the Yorkville Highlands of Mendocino County. This rugged and remote site is farmed organically on a steep hillside of eroding shale, situated at 1,100’ elevation, where it enjoys warm days and cool nights. We love the mineral driven Sauvignon Blancs of France’s Loire Valley and have long hoped we would find a site here in California that could grow Sauvignon Blanc that leaned in that direction. We knew that vine age, clone, elevation, soil, and farming all had to be right for us to achieve that expression and this vineyard met all the criteria. The resulting wine exhibits mineral and saline flavors balanced with a hint of herbaceous and floral aromatics.”
Arnot-Roberts Watson Ranch Chardonnay, Napa Valley 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $44.50, that’s $42.28 at 5% off and $40.05 at 10% off, 17 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92 points “The 2022 Chardonnay Watson Ranch shows lovely textural depth and resonance. Dried pear, spice, menthol, dried flowers and herbs fill out the layers nicely. The balance here is sublime. This is an especially savory, earthy Chardonnay, with fruit pushed into the background. The 2022 is all class.”
Arnot-Roberts Rosé, California 2024 750ml Displayed Price: $26, that’s $24.70 at 5% off and $23.40 at 10% off, 10 bottles in stock now
Winemaker’s Note “We began making Rosé from Touriga Nacional in 2010. We were compelled by the grape’s deep color, brilliant acidity and aromatic complexity even at low sugar content. Touriga is a late-ripening Portuguese variety that needs some heat to mature, and we have sought out vineyards suited to this hearty variety.”
Arnot-Roberts Gamay Noir, El Dorado 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $28, that’s $26.60 at 5% off and $25.20 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “We first began working with Gamay in 2011 as a collaborative effort with our friend Rajat Parr under the RPM label, until the final vintage for the RPM project in 2015. The original sources were Barsotti and Witters vineyards grown in the granitic soils of the Sierra Foothills, situated at around 3000’ elevation. In 2022 we were fortunate to begin working with Gamay from the Ascona Vineyard high up in the Santa Cruz Mountains at 2,500′ elevation. We employ the carbonic maceration technique where the uncrushed grapes are sealed up for several days, allowing the berries to begin fermentation from the inside out. This method is used by many of our favorite Beaujolais producers and adds a spicy fruitiness that infuses freshness and energy in the resulting wines.”

Arnot-Roberts Trousseau, North Coast 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “A perennial favorite, this wine seems to form a seamless connection between Arnot-Roberts’ new world approach and the old world terroirs and styles that inform their work year in and year out. The deft touch used to vinify this temperamental varietal results in an expression of candied new world style fruit wrapped up in a package that expresses subtle nuances and complexity rarely encountered in young California wine. Light-bodied, but gracefully perfumed, it seems to match whatever food you’d like to throw at it with surprising dexterity.”
Arnot-Roberts Red, California 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $59, that’s $56.05 at 5% off and $53.10 at 10% off, 8 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92 points “The 2022 Red Wine California is a very pleasant, fruity wine, especially in this vintage. About 50% of the wine was aged in cement. That, along with early bottling, preserves forward fruit and a good bit of freshness. Sweet floral and spice notes lift the mid-palate and finish.”

Arnot-Roberts Syrah, Sonoma Coast 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 4 bottles in stock now
Decanter 94 points “This Arnot Roberts Syrah blends three distinct coastal sites: Solas, Baker Lane, and their flagship vineyard, Que Syrah. The wine makes a bold statement from the start, showcasing a deep purple colour in the glass that fits its powerful aromas and flavours like a glove. Expect rich black and blue fruit notes of blackberries, currants, and plums, with floral aromas of violets and lavender and a classic fresh grind of pepper with a slightly herbal, savoury finish. The tannins are a bit grippy, but it’s a delicious wine overall. (Drink between 2025-2030).”

Arnot-Roberts Clajeux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Chalk Hill 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $128, that’s $121.60 at 5% off and $115.20 at 10% off, 3 bottles in stock now
Decanter 94 points “Arnot-Roberts’ longest-standing vineyard partner since 2003, Clajeux, is a hillside site in Chalk Hill, just above the Russian River Valley. The 2022 Cabernet is basket pressed to neutral French oak barrels for 22 months. It showcases a powerful blend of sweet and tart blue and blackberries, complemented by a hint of tangy marmalade. On the nose, it offers aromas of violets, dried spices, and a bouquet garni. The well-drained, rocky volcanic soils in the vineyard impart a chalky minerality that supports the young tannins in the wine. With an inviting 12% ABV, this well-rounded Cabernet has a bright future if you allow it a few years in the bottle. Only four barrels were produced.”

Arnot-Roberts Kirschenmann Vineyard Zinfandel, Mokelumne River 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “In the spring of 2012, our friends Tegan and Olivia Passalacqua purchased an incredible old vineyard east of Lodi in the tiny town of Victor, California named Kirschenmann. The site is located on an oxbow of the Mokelumne River, which over centuries has deposited loads of fine, sandy, granitic loam from erosion of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the East. The vineyard was planted in 1915 on its own roots and is primarily Zinfandel, with a little Carignane, Cinsault and Mondeuse Noir spread throughout the block. The old, twisted, dry-farmed vines are thriving under the watchful eye of Tegan, one of the foremost experts on old vines in California. Tegan also produces his own wine under the Sandlands label and is the current winemaker for Turley Vineyards in Napa. We are lucky to be offered one ton of this fruit per year allowing us to vinify just 2-3 barrels annually.”
Biondi Santi is the crème de la crème of high-end Brunello. This winery, and family behind it were the founders of the region of Brunello di Montalcino, and through their approaching 200-year history have embodied the identity of quality, tradition, and longevity. They pioneered the use of grafting select vines to rescue the local clones from phylloxera, and were the first to bottle wines under the official “Brunello di Montalcino” label. Their wines are the ultimate expression of Brunello and a must have for all lovers of authentic and historic Tuscan wines.

Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 750ml Was $699, Now $619, 4 bottles in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 99 points “Wow, here is a vintage I’ve been anxiously waiting to try. The 2016 growing season was one of the best in recent memory in Montalcino, and if we look back in time, this vintage marks the year Biondi-Santi was sold to a French group. The prestigious 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva proves a mighty collector’s bottle that will undoubtedly gain in complexity and depth with careful bottle age. The wine offers wild nuances of forest berry and tart cherry, and there are herbal side notes as well as floral tones of dried violet and lilac. The tannins are soft, powdery and feel like they melt away on the palate.”
Arriving Late July:
Biondi Santi Tenuta Greppo Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany 2019 750ml $119 pre-arrival special, 12 bottles available
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 95 points “This flight of three Biondi-Santi wines starts off on the right foot thanks to the pristine bouquet and lively fruit of the 2019 Rosso di Montalcino. This is the entry-level wine (although the price point certainly suggests otherwise). It shows very detailed and chiseled aromas of wild cherry, cassis, dried violet, rust and orange skin. The wine carries a strong structural frame; however, the mouthfeel is ethereal and light notwithstanding.”
