Fans of the Michelini brothers in Argentina, known for their winemaking at Zorzal, also craft exceptional wines from calcareous soils in the Uco Valley under their SuperUco label. These are biodynamic wines from some of the top crafters of cool climate Argentinian wines. Don’t miss their gorgeous Cabernet Franc landing today.
“Among the most exciting Argentine wines I’ve been tasting in recent years are those made by the four Michelini brothers, especially those bottled under the SuperUco, Michelini Wines and Zorzal labels. The very distinctive—one might say groundbreaking—Michelini style is natural, fresh, savory and low in alcohol.” –Stephen Tanzer, Vinous
“[SupercUco] is located in Los Chacayes, where there are two hectares of vines, as well as estate holdings in Gualtallary and Altamira, all of which are organic and Demeter certified. The textural precision and finesse that define the brothers’ solo projects are evident here as well, and the winery serves as a hub for family members to train as sommeliers or winemakers…” –Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate
Superuco ‘Calcareo’ Coluvio de Altamira Cabernet Franc, Uco Valley, Argentina 2020 750ml $21.90 pre-arrival special, 36+ bottles available
Case-12 Superuco ‘Calcareo’ Coluvio de Altamira Cabernet Franc, Uco Valley, Argentina 2020 750ml $228 pre-arrival special (that’s only $19/bottle!)
Joaquin Hidalgo-Vinous 94 points “The 2020 Cabernet Franc Calcáreo Coluvio, from Altamira in the Uco Valley, is garnet red in color. The nose consists of ash, green pepper, blackcurrant and hints of sour cherry. Delivering full-bodied flavor in the mouth, with sour cherry especially prominent on the palate, it grows more vigorous and light-footed as it goes on with good freshness and a hint of chalk. The alcohol lends structure. The 2020 is an unusual wine in that it’s both ripe and very fresh. Drink: 2022-2034.”

Elite German Riesling & Sauv Blancs
Stock Up & Save On:
Von Winning
Top tier terroir is a prime focus for Von Winning. They are a founding member of the VDP, German’s elite producers’ organization that advocates for quality and terroir expression. The estate combines old and incredible vineyard sites with meticulous winemaking to produce dry, white wines of depth and complexity. They capture grace and mineral power.
Farming in their vineyards scattered around Forst, Deidesheim, and Ruppertsberg is minimal-input, much like the gentle winemaking, and the estate is practicing organic. The wines are fermented and some are aged in neutral oak of various formats, imparting a depth and richness to the wines without sacrificing precision.
The Rieslings offer floral and mineral flavors that are both intense and furtive. But Riesling isn’t the only focus. Von Winning is one of the preeminent producers of Sauvignon Blanc in the world. Germany is not where you’d expect to find great Sauvignon Blanc, but the wines will make a believer out of anyone. These are rich, textural examples that move beyond varietal characteristics and into unique territory. Their closest comparison is probably the top Sauvignon of Friuli (eg, Miani, Ronco del Gnemiz), or the very best estates in Austria.
According to Wine-Searcher, these are some of the most actively sought-after wines in the Pfalz. Snap up your allocation today.

Sauvignon Blanc Highlights:
Von Winning Sauvignon Blanc ‘II’ Trocken, Pfalz 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $21.90, that’s $20.81 at 5% off and $19.71 at 10% off, 25 bottles in stock now
Falstaff Magazine 91 points “Slightly closed-reductive aroma, spontaneous fermentation. Dense structure, firm acidity and smooth base, very good in freshness and tension. Aromatically restrained but the substance is excellent. Will continue to develop positively.”
Von Winning ‘500’ Sauvignon Blanc, Pfalz 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $79, that’s $75.05 at 5% off and $71.10 at 10% off, 5 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 94 points “The intensely yellow-colored 2022 Sauvignon Blanc 500 is deep, intense and concentrated on the nose that intermingles tropical fruit aromas with oaky and refreshing phenolic notes. Clear, fresh and elegant on the palate, with concentrated citrus fruit and a tight structure with fine yet slightly drying tannins, this full-bodied, mineral and persistently salty Sauvignon is the most convincing I have had since Stephan Attman took over the direction of the domaine in 2008 and developed this wine that is vinified in tonneaux. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024.”
Riesling Highlights:
Von Winning Riesling Trocken, Pfalz 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $24, that’s $22.80 at 5% off and $21.60 at 10% off, 22 bottles in stock now
“The 2023 Riesling is made from estate-grown fruit only, from the youngest vines and non-classified vineyards, all done in stainless steel. Ripe stone fruit and gentle creaminess on the nose are friendly and sunny. The palate is totally inviting, providing lightness, zestiness, creaminess and above all, bright, gentle fruit. (Dry) (Drink between 2024-2028).” -Anne Krebiehl MW-Vinous
Von Winning Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten Riesling Trocken, Pfalz 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $31.90, that’s $30.31 at 5% off and $28.71 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Anne Krebiehl MW-Vinous 90 points “The 2022 Riesling Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten Erste Lage is from a cooler site closer to the forest, partly southeast-facing. It was fermented spontaneously in Doppelstück and stayed on gross lees until bottling in July 2023. The nose is shy but flirts with a little passionfruit. The palate has a rounded, Mirabelle gentleness, very balanced and friendly. Subtle yeast and zest appear on the finish. (Dry)”
Von Winning Deidesheimer Leinhohle Riesling Trocken, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $36.50, that’s $34.68 at 5% off and $32.85 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Wine Enthusiast 90 points “This is rather light, with a graceful profile decorated with notes of yellow plum, quinine and lemongrass. The midpalate is supple and balanced, while the finish is juicy, inviting you to grab a bite of cheese.”
Von Winning Jesuitengarten Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $119, that’s $113.05 at 5% off and $107.10 at 10% off, 3 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Jesuitengarten GG is located on the slope just below Ungeheuer in Forst and has sandstone, limestone and basalt in the soil. The wine ferments naturally in 500l oak barrels and stays 1,5 years on the lees. Piquant, noble reduction and deep layers of fruit. Our rarest GG!”
This rarity is rarely reviewed. No review available for the 2021 vintage. 2019 review provided for reference.
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 96-98 points “The 2019 Jesuitengarten GG displays an intense lemon color and opens with a rich, intense and refreshing bouquet of lemon oil intermixed with vanilla and yeasty aromas and notes of crushed stones and blossoming flowers. It is less fruity and aromatic than the Pechstein and even the Kirchenstück but subtle and very complex at the same time. Full-bodied, fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a crystalline, piquant and firmly structured yet highly refined Jesuitengarten with density, power, tension and a persistent tropical stone fruit aroma—think of mangos but also passion fruit and even ripe peaches. It is very salty and has a serious, very sustainable finish. A spectacular GG for von Wining yet leaner and tighter than the famous neighbors from the Pechstein and Kirchenstück. The finish is not just salty but also enormously long and vibrating.”
Von Winning Kalkofen Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $74.50, that’s $70.78 at 5% off and $67.05 at 10% off, 12 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 95-96 points “The 2021 Kalkofen Riesling trocken VDP. Grosse Lage comes from the plateau above Deidesheim and owes its density and complexity to 65-year-old vines growing on sandstone and limestone. The must is fermented spontaneously in 500-liter oak barrels, and the wine is maturing on the lees. The brilliantly clear and radiant sample opens with a deep, intense and elegant, still oaky but complex and fruit-intense bouquet that gives rise to the highest hopes. Rich and intense but also fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, mineral and textured Kalkofen that obviously wants to be a Meursault or Montrachet yet with the weapons of Riesling and also Buntsandstein. Whatever it is, this is an excellent and promising Kalkofen whose development and capacity I’d love to follow for at least a decade. The wine is dense and tight but also fresh and juicy and provided with very fine tannins and sustainable mineral acidity. Highly promising indeed. Tasted as a barrel sample at the domaine in Deidesheim in November 2022.”
Von Winning Kieselberg Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $74.50, that’s $70.78 at 5% off and $67.05 at 10% off, 16 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93-95 points “The 2021 Kieselberg Riesling trocken VDP. Grosse Lage comes from a plateau above Deidesheim with sandstone and limestone in the soil. Fermented spontaneously in 500-liter oak vats and still maturing in them, the barrel sample shows a clear, elegant and savory nose of bright and ripe fruit aromas intertwined with oaky and yeasty notes. Creamy textured and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, tight and saline-finishing Riesling with fine and grippy tannins and lingering salinity and mineral tension. It’s still very young but worthy to be cellared for at least a decade. Tasted at the domaine in November 2022. To be released sometime next year.”
Von Winning Kirchenstuck Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $145, that’s $137.75 at 5% off and $130.50 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 97 points “The yellow-golden colored 2022 Forster Kirchenstück Riesling GG VDP.Grosse Lage combines ripe and almost tropical (mango) fruit with delicate oak and fresh phenolic as well as lemon aromas. Full-bodied, rich and very dense on the palate, this is an intense and powerful yet fine and elegant Riesling that doesn’t have the drive and drama of the Pechstein but the richness and solemness of a great, refined and persistently salty wine. This is an impressive Kirchenstück that combines power and intensity with finesse and rejuvenating salinity. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024.”
Von Winning Langenmorgen Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $74.50, that’s $70.78 at 5% off and $67.05 at 10% off, 15 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93-94 points “The 2021 Langenmorgen Riesling trocken VDP. Grosse Lage is grown in a cool area up by the forest on a light sandstone soil. It fermented spontaneously in 500-liter oak barrels, in which the wine is aging until today. The nose shows a brilliantly clear, fresh and flinty, very elegant GG with herbal and soil-driven, flinty-scented intensity and the coolish aromas of slow-ripening Riesling. Very elegant and refined on the palate, this is a round, lush and salty-savory Riesling classic that reveals a long, tight, saline and finely grippy finish. As per the vintage, this is a rather lean, straightforward but tensioned Riesling that will show its class in the years to come. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in November 2022. To be released sometime next year.”
Von Winning Pechstein Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $119, that’s $113.05 at 5% off and $107.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93 points “The intensely citrus-colored 2021 Pechstein Forster Riesling GG is cultivated on sandstone, limestone and basalt soils. Fermented spontaneously in 500-liter-oak barrels and aged on the lees for 1.5 years, the wine opens with a noble, intense and elegant bouquet with ripe citrus aromas and flinty notes. The wine is saline, fresh and vital, intense and linear and carried by fine acidity and delicate citrus aromas to a long and aromatic, very stimulating and lemony finish. It has 13% stated alcohol and lots of energy and mineral tension. Natural cork.”
Von Winning Ungeheuer Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Pfalz 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $79, that’s $75.05 at 5% off and $71.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93 points “The intensely yellow-colored 2022 Forster Ungeheuer Riesling GG VDP. Grosse Lage opens with a rich and intensely fruity as well as oaky bouquet with sur lie or brioche notes as well as fresh lemon aromas. Full-bodied, intense and fresh on the palate, this full-bodied, creamy-textured yet also vital and elegant Riesling is still reminiscent of von Winning’s Sauvignon Blanc 500 in terms of style. In any case, it’s a peculiar Ungeheuer in the Pfalz context due to the prominent use of oak. The astringency, however, is positive, and the wine will probably benefit from bottle age. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2024.”
Although Cayuse is probably the first name that comes to mind when discussing rare, cult Walla Walla wines, Leonetti is the harder-to-source prize. The produce supremely polished Bordeaux-inspired reds that dazzle professional reviewers every vintages. These elegant wines are reference point releases not to be missed.
There just isn’t much wine available (unless you like paying restaurant markups) and the wines are held in incredibly high esteem. The Cabernet is fantastic, the Merlot reminds you why people fell in love with the grape in the first place. Leonetti seems to have a magic touch. Jump on this now if you’re interested.

Leonetti Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley 2021 750ml $119 special, 23 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 97+ points “The classic 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon from this reference point estate checks in as 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Malbec raised 22 months in once-filled oak and neutral oval botti. Its vivid purple hue is followed by a perfumed, youthful bouquet of cassis and blue fruits that give way to more graphite, chalky minerality, violets, and spicy oak. It’s deep, rich, and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a gorgeous mid-palate, ripe, building, polished tannins, and fabulous length on the finish. This absolutely brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon needs to be forgotten for 2-4 years and will evolve gracefully over the following two decades. It’s another sensational wine from the talents of Chris Figgins.”
Eric Guido-Vinous 96 points “The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is intense, smoldering up with a dark blend of blackcurrants, crushed rocks, hints of graphite and sage. This is cool-toned and crisp, with crunchy red and black fruits that cascade across the palate as a saturation of primary concentration adds inner tension. A web of finegrained tannins penetrates deeply, yet the 2021 maintains a fresh persona, tapering off long, staining and truly classic. A mineral tinge lingers on the finish.”
Leonetti Cellar Merlot, Walla Walla Valley 2022 750ml $95 special, 28 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points “All Merlot aged in once-filled and neutral oak, the 2022 Merlot sports a vivid ruby/purple hue as well as solid aromatics of ripe black cherries, cedary herbs, dried flowers, and a kiss of background oak. It’s medium to full-bodied, has a pure, elegant mouthfeel, polished tannins, and a great finish. It will keep from 10-12 years with ease.”
Anthony Mueller-Wine Advocate 93+ points “Deeply colored and extracted for a Merlot, the 2022 Walla Walla Merlot displays mocha notes with plum and blackberry compote with soft notions of brown baking spices that sway from the glass with a firm, mineral essence. Full-bodied, the palate is still tight with firm,. gripping tannins that will release with additional years in the cellar yet will remain food-friendly for the next decade. The wine spent 15 months in a mix of new and used French oak and neutral botti. 23,448 bottles were made.”
