Vintage Port

Port has been a staple in every cellar since its inception in the 17th century. Not only delicious but also one of the most age-worthy and collectible wine styles in the world, it’s a mainstay on auction blocks from New York to Hong Kong.

Unlike other styles that blend multiple vintages, Vintage Ports come from a handful of the best barrels from a singular harvest. In order for a vintage to be declared it must pass three different evaluations beginning with the individual houses. The next step involves a vote amongst the houses to determine if there’s consensus to declare a vintage. Finally, the houses must submit examples of their vintage to the Institute of Douro and Porto Wines for a tasting evaluation before being allowed to bring the wine to market.

Perfect as gifts, cellar gems, or meal accompaniments for the holidays (or years to come), Vintage Port will reward you with incomparable enjoyment, especially during our three-day sale.

“Insane aromas of crushed berry, flowers and lifted ester like a fermenting lager. Full body, tannic yet so finely grained in texture. Extremely long and beautiful. It goes on for minutes. 2,500 cases. Try in 2026.”

“This packs a lot of fun, with a wallop of blackberry, fig, boysenberry and açai berry compote flavors working together, laced with a mouthwatering licorice snap note and driven by a fresh, well-detailed finish. A roasted apple wood accent is integrated as well, lending textural contrast through the vivacious finish. Best from 2030 through 2055.”

“The 2017 Dow’s Vintage Port showed a slight reduction and required more time to really open in the glass. Typical of Dow’s it has a more backward and introspective bouquet compared to its peers, scents of blackberry, clove, wild mint, cassis and vanilla, gradually gaining more intensity with aeration. The palate is simply glorious. It is built around a compelling tannic frame that seems finer than any Dow’s I have encountered apart from the ethereal 2011. There is so much energy coiled up in this Port, a sense of symmetry that is enthralling and yet you just know that it needs to be cellared for 15-20 years for it to reveal its full potential. For serious Port-lovers. One of the vintages most cerebral offerings. Total production is 5,250 cases.”

Beautiful elegance is in stock now!
W & J Graham’s Vintage Port 2017 750ml Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 26 bottles in stock now
Decanter 98 points
“Based on Touriga Franca from south-facing slopes at Quinta dos Malvedos, with Touriga Nacional from quintas Vila Velha and Vale de Mealhadas (both predominantly north-facing), topped out with fruit from old vines at Quinta da Tua and 10% Sousão. It’s a very deep blue-black colour with an expressive, super-ripe nose of plum, mint and bergamot which springs from the glass. The palate is rich, velvety and voluptuous in typical Graham’s style. The initial richness makes the tannins, which show up on the ripe, broad, mouthwatering finish. Wonderful purity and definition. A real wow of a wine! 3.9 Baumé.”

This small estate packs on the flavor in its slightly dryer style.
Quinta do Infantado Vintage Port 2015 750ml Displayed Price: $59, that’s $56.05 at 5% off and $53.10 at 10% off, 22 bottles in stock now
Mark Squires-Wine Advocate 90 points
“The 2015 Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines (50+ years) that comes in at 85 grams per liter of residual sugar. This is lighter styled, fresh and easy, but with fine intensity of flavor. The freshness just now is actually rather glorious. Its fine acidity lifts the fruit on that flavorful finish, but it does lack some concentration for a top VP. This producer does tend to emphasize elegance in general and the vintage does as well. Its structure is average. This is a great deal of fun, but I’m not sure it will develop much. That said, its acidity will help preserve it and it is very tasty—impossible to dislike.”

One of Port’s finest, and a frequent Top 100 winner.
James Suckling Top 100 Wine!
Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2016 750ml Displayed Price: $119, that’s $113.05 at 5% off and $107.10 at 10% off, 30 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 98 points
“This is a superb baby Noval that reminds me of the 1966. Chewy yet so polished. The light sweetness suggests an overall dialing back of the sugar content. Stemmy and lightly green. A truly classic Noval. Almost all from Pinhao. Buy. Better in 2025.”

Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine!
Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2017 750ml Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 21 bottles in stock now
Wine Spectator 98 points
“This is well-packed, offering the vivid plum, boysenberry, cassis and açaí berry fruit profile of the vintage, along with a dark edge of tar, baker’s chocolate and salted licorice that courses underneath. The long finish lets the fruit play out, keeping singed alder and chai spice hints in the background. Smolderingly seductive. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. Best from 2035 through 2060. 3,500 cases made. — JM”

“OMG. This is really the most amazing young Taylor’s I have ever tasted. Full-bodied and lightly sweet with super power and intensity. So racy and focused. Yet this has such muscle and intensity. Needs at least eight years to show you everything it has to offer. Drink in 2025.”

“Complex aromas of tar, wet earth, dark berry and flowers follow through to a full body, medium sweet and amazing compacted concentration. Vertical and so deep. It goes on for minutes. Truly excellent. Better after 2027.”

Warre’s Vintage Port 2016 750ml Displayed Price: $89, that’s $84.55 at 5% off and $80.10 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
Wine Spectator 98 points
“Gorgeous, with warm plum reduction and gently steeped raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors forming the core, all inlaid with warm ganache and smoldering tobacco accents. Very plush in feel, but has no lack of energy, as everything sails beautifully through the long finish. A late echo of anise completes the seduction. *No. 14, Top 100 Wines of 2018*”

Tawny? Yes. Vintage? Indeed. These Colheita wines may not be the first thing that springs to mind for Vintage Port, but these offerings from the famous Kopke are well worth your consideration.
Kopke Colheita Tawny Port 1934 750ml Displayed Price: $899, that’s $854.05 at 5% off and $809.10 at 10% off, 4 bottles in stock now
Mark Squires-Wine Advocate 97 points
“The 1934 Colheita Tawny Port was bottled March 2022 with 149 grams per liter of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. Of the many Sogevinus Tawnies that the producer showed over its various houses, this was the oldest and tasted like it. Yet, like all of the producer’s oldies, they do a great job in producing complexity without the fruit seeming too old. I’m told it is never topped off too. There are only about 450 liters left for the future. It is a bit darker, leaning a little more to molasses, but it’s surprisingly fresh for its age. It has fine concentration and an endless finish. It is certainly special, not automatically a lot better than, say, a 50 Year, but a very different experience.”

Kopke Colheita Tawny Port 1978 750ml Displayed Price: $119, that’s $113.05 at 5% off and $107.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now

“Excellent in all aspects. Caramel and molasses on the nose, palate abundant with deeper toffee, vanilla and ripe prune. Cedar spices combine with fine citrus fruit around a red fruit core. Balanced and with further evolution still to come. Seriously good.”

Kopke Colheita Tawny Port 2005 750ml Displayed Price: $51.90, that’s $49.31 at 5% off and $46.71 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Kopke Colheita Tawny Port 2005 375ml Displayed Price: $34.50, that’s $32.78 at 5% off and $31.05 at 10% off, 12 half-bottles in stock now
Wine & Spirits 93 points
“Cool and refined upfront, this is polished and posh with sweet plum and vanilla scents in the middle. Then it gets a sunny lift in the end, lasting on honeycomb and notes of dried apricots. A gracious and refined way to end a holiday meal.”

Kopke Colheita Tawny Port 2015 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now

“Surprisingly tannic on the palate, rich and dense in style, with roasted coffee, walnut, date and burnt sugar filling the mouth with an excellent lingering finish.”

“This is a young colheita Port, with white fruit aroma and just the beginnings of the long wood aging. Its sweetness and spice are balanced by perfumed white fruits and honey. Drink now.”
