Jadot Wines from Burgundy & Beaujolais

Louis Jadot, founded in 1859, is the most iconic negociant producers in Burgundy. Its distinctive yellow-tan label with the cherub on the top is adored for everything from their red Beaujolais up to their Grand Cru bottlings. They offer some of the best values in the numerous vineyard and village site they work with. We offer several 2016 Grand Cru bottlings ready to elevate tonight’s evening, some 2021s that will wow you now and later, and a wide selection of their fabulous Beaujolais.

Louis Jadot purchased their Moulin-à-Vent estate in 1996, becoming one of the first major Burgundy houses with significant holdings in the region. Their vineyards including holdings in some of the most famous Beaujolais crus of Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon, and Fleurie. These vineyards are notable for their pink granite soils, unique to the region, on which Gamay excels.

Since taking over the estate, Maison Jadot has added organic and biodynamic practices, less with a mind towards certification than towards the health and character of each parcel.

The hand harvested grapes are rigorously sorted and destemmed before undergoing Burgundian winemaking techniques such as long macerations, natural fermentation, and barrel maturation. 2022 saw significantly smaller yields due to intense heat in July. The vines responded with smaller berries with intense concentration. The resulting wines are silky and deep, with excellent aging potential.

We’d say that these are surprisingly complex, but the secret is long out about the quality of the wines from Jadot. Get these at some of the lowest prices in the country even before our three-day discount!

“The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent has a sapid, marine-tinged bouquet, hints of shucked oyster shell infusing the dark berry fruit. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly furry tannins, spicier than the Morgon, with a little more edginess and pepperiness on the finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2024-2032).”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin, Beaujolais 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 15 bottles in stock now
Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin, Beaujolais 2022 1.5L Displayed Price: $99, that’s $94.05 at 5% off and $89.10 at 10% off, 3 magnums in stock now
Winery Note
“A few steps away from the windmill itself, and separated from the la Roche vineyard by a small road, the Clos du grand Carquelin faces a little bit more towards the south and offers a different personality. Here the soil is made of granitic sands and is deeper (60m) and more clayish…The Clos du Grand Carquelin is a particularly complex, delicate and elegant wine. It is appealing, lively and opens nicely once in a glass. This cru Beaujolais is a nice companion to delicately flavoured dishes.”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres, Beaujolais 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 16 bottles in stock now
Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres, Beaujolais 2022 1.5L Displayed Price: $106, that’s $100.70 at 5% off and $95.40 at 10% off, 3 magnums in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 90 points
“The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès has more complexity on the nose compared to the regular cuvée: more floral, iris flower scents filtering through the dark berry fruit, and hints of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It’s fleshy, but right at the finish, it is a tad sweeter than I would like, lacking a bit of sapidity and tension. Near, yet not quite there! That said, it remains a decent Moulin-à-Vent that will benefit from a couple of years in bottle. (Drink between 2025-2033).”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Morgon Cote du Py, Beaujolais 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“An emblematic terroir composed of bluish rocks derived from an underwater volcano and whose origins are even more ancient than the pink granite of Moulin à Vent…The interesting aspect of Côte du PY originates from the blue rock which is richer than its neighbour planted on granite. It shows rich aromas of white pepper and blackberry together with full body. Its complexity will enhance a wide range of delicate dishes.”

Louis Jadot Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent La Roche, Beaujolais 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 18 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“As ‘la Roche’ means, this vineyard is situated under the windmill (Moulin-A-Vent) on the mother rock old of 320 million years Only the Gamay grape is able to prosper on such soils almost without any water reserve throughout the year. Vinification: Picked and sorted by hand, then often de-stemmed, the grapes macerate slowly over the course of three to four weeks. Both pigeage and pumping over takes place during fermentation depending on the vintage. Winemaking and bottling: The wines are aged in our historic cellar for 10 months, a period spent in oak barrels, partly new and partly one, two and three vinages old.. The oak used to make the barrels comes from the French forests of Allier, Limousin and Nivernais. Tasting / Food pairing: La Roche is a wine of great tension, with lots of minerality and precision. It is very linear in style, a characteristic that makes it a particularly apt match for complex and refined dishes.”

James Suckling 97 points
“Wow. This is so rich and exotic on the nose with green-mango, papaya, lemon and peach aromas. Full-bodied, layered and extremely powerful and dense. Deep and thought-provoking. Try after 2023, but already a joy to taste.”

Louis Jadot Domaine Gagey Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $499, that’s $474.05 at 5% off and $449.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Decanter 94 points
“Lovely ripe cherry fruit with floral and spice notes and a bit of smoke and toast introduce this marvelous wine, one of the signal successes among the Jadot reds in the 2021 vintage. The wine is one of finesse and elegance; on the palate there is vivacious fresh acidity, but enough density to be substantial and long without being imposing. The wine is produced from the 0.17-hectare parcel in the original Clos St-Denis lieu-dit owned by Domaine André Gagey and farmed under a long-term contract by Jadot.”

Wine Spectator 97 points
“Rose, cherry and spice aromas introduce this light-bodied, saturated version. The flavors add wild strawberry, incense and kirsch notes, while remaining persistent on the kaleidoscopic finish. Feels tense now, yet should develop nicely over time. A mineral element lingers. Best from 2023 through 2045.”

Louis Jadot Domaine des Heritiers Corton Pougets Grand Cru, Cote de Beaune 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $169, that’s $160.55 at 5% off and $152.10 at 10% off, 3 bottles in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 94-96 points
“The 2021 Corton-Pougets Grand Cru has a wonderful bouquet with transparent red cherry, raspberry and floral notes. This wine is classy and seductive. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins. It’s lithe and agile in the mouth with a mineral undertow towards the finish. Often one of Jadot’s classiest offerings, this Pougets is no different and one of their stars in 2021.”
