Oregon

Evesham Wood Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2021 750ml $28 special, 36 bottles in stock

France

Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils Savigny-les-Beaune Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes, Cote de Beaune 2020 750ml $49 special, 6 bottles in stock
John Gilman 92 points
“The lieu à dit of Grands Liards must be one of the warmer microclimates in Savigny, as this is the highest octane wine in the Camus-Bruchon cellars this year at 13.6 percent, and the same thing was true of Chisa Bize’s version as well in her lineup of 2020s. This wine was raised in the same cask regimen as the Pimentiers in 2020 and has also turned out beautifully, delivering a bouquet of cherries, plums, pomegranate, woodsmoke, pigeon, lovely soil tones, a touch of vanillin oak and a spicy topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with fine focus and balance, ripe, buried tannins and a long, nascently complex finish. This will take a year or two longer to blossom than the Pimentiers, but will be every bit as fine once it is ready to drink. (Drink between 2032 – 2075)”

Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils Savigny-les-Beaune Les Pimentiers Vieilles Vignes, Cote de Beaune 2020 750ml $49 special, 6 bottles in stock
John Gilman 92 points
“The 2020 Pimentiers old vine bottling was raised in fifteen percent new oak this year, with an additional fifteen percent “one wine” barrels and the rest considerably older. The wine is beautiful, showing superb precision on the nose as it jumps from the glass in a mix of cherries, red plums, just a hint of currant, dark soil tones, a fine array of spices, woodsmoke and a nice framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth of sappy red fruit, stony minerality, ripe tannins and a long, well-balanced and very promising, complex finish. (Drink between 2030 – 2075)”

Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils Savigny-les-Beaune Cuvee Reine Joly, Cote de Beaune 2020 750ml $49 special, 6 bottles in stock
Vinous 89 points
“The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune “Cuvée Reine Joly”, a blend of six parcels, offers pure raspberry and wild strawberry scented on the nose, a hint of pressed rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, quite saline, needing a little cohesion and flesh towards the crunchy finish, though I suspect it will flesh out during the remainder of its élevage.”

Chateau d’Aqueria Tavel Rose, Rhone 2021 750ml $16 special, 36 bottles in stock

Louis Jadot Beaujolais Rose 2021 750ml $11.90 special, 36 bottles in stock

Aline Bonfils Domaine du Gour de Chaule Gigondas Tradition, Rhone 2020 750ml $38 special, 36 bottles in stock
Vinous 95 points
“Deep magenta. A complex, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes black raspberry, kirsch and lavender, along with vibrant mineral and exotic spice flourishes. Incisive red and dark berry, bitter cherry and succulent herb flavors show fine detail and spicy cut. Chewy, slowly building tannins add shape and grip to a strikingly long, nervy finish that echoes the cherry and floral notes. All whole clusters”

Italy

Barone Ricasoli Colledila, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 750ml $79 special, 17 bottles in stock
James Suckling 98 points
“This is sensational, with ultra fine tannins that melt into the wine. Such intense and beautiful fruit with cherries, peaches and lightly candied cherries. Some citrus, too. Very soft and creamy with wonderful polish. Beautiful center palate and a lovely finish. A song in the bottle. A little tight now. Hard to wait, but give it two or three years to open.”

Wines we’ve received more stock of due to popular demand! Don’t miss out on snagging a few of these bottles before they’re gone again.

Espectacle del Montsant, Montsant 2018 750ml $119 special, 9 bottles in stock
Wine Spectator 98 points
“As with other wines, I also tasted the 2018 Espectacle del Montsant next to the 2017 to catch up, as I last tasted the region some 16 months ago. 2018 was a cooler year of slow ripeness, and the grapes achieved an amazing 16% alcohol. The wine is truly spectacular, true to its name. It has tons of violet notes and aromatic herbs, the palate is gentler, and the tannins are rounder, polished and elegant. It has full body but isn’t heavy. There is a lot of complexity, and the wine developed slowly in the glass, showing nuances of cereals, kirsch, orange peel and lots of spices and herbs. It’s opulent and full, deep and complex. Amazing in its style. Some 6,500 bottles produced.”

Weingut Prinz Riesling Trocken, Rheingau 2020 750ml $16 special, 36+ bottles in stock
Stuart Pigott 92 points
“Very cool herbal, reine-claude plum and green-apple nose. Firm and racy with a firm mineral core. Mountain freshness at the finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”

Stephen Goff Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley 2020 750ml $19 special, 24 bottles in stock
After 6 years as Assistant Winemaker at Beaux Freres, he then moved to be the Senior Winemaker at Colene Clemens, and he remains on the job today. The 2020 Goff Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is his own project, and we thank him for his sub $20 Pinot Noir.

Crowley Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2020 750ml $24 special, 36 bottles in stock
Winery note
“Lemon-lime aromatics burst from the glass, laced with a touch of floral wood. Quenching salinity on the palate stretches long, eventually giving way to chalk and balanced acidity. Vineyard info: Four Winds was planted in 1993 to Wente clone Chardonnay (1.5 acres) and Dijon clone Chardonnay (.75 acres), and beginning in 2017 (2.5 acres) of Draper clone. Elevation is 825 feet and south facing. Own rooted and dry farmed.”

Domaine de la Pepiere Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine Sur Lie Clos des Briords Cuvee Vieilles Vignes, Loire 2021 750ml $24 special, 33 bottles in stock

Domaines Ott Chateau de Selle Cotes de Provence Coeur de Grain Rose 2021 750ml $54.50 special, 24 bottles in stock
Vinous 93 points “Limpid orange. A sharply focused, mineral-accented bouquet evokes fresh red berries and pit fruits, citrus pith and pungent flowers. Silky and penetrating on the palate, offering tangy redcurrant, pomegranate and blood orange flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. The floral note builds steadily through an impressively long, nervy finish that echoes the citrus and mineral notes.”

Domaines Ott Chateau Romassan Rose, Bandol 2021 750ml $54.50 special, 38 bottles in stock
Wine & Spirits 96 points
“Chateau Romassan sits at the foot of the hilltop village Le Castellet, a few miles north of the Bay of Bandol. The Otts rely on mourvedre for the bulk of their rose, this one includes 30 percent cinsault and 15 percent grenache), and, thought 2021 was another hot summer here, Romassan’s poor limestone and sandstone soils produced a deeply savory wine. This pale Bandol seems to have inhaled the local scrubland and seaside breezes, presenting that savory edge alongside husk cherry, grapefruit and pale melon flavors. Firm and versatile, it would pair nicely with anything from bouillabaisse to a Nicoise salad; or take it abroad alongside chicken yakitori.”

The Wines of Sequitur

Michael Etzel is one of Oregon’s most distinguished winemakers. Beginning his career in 1986 with the purchase of a Douglas fir farm in what would later come to be called Ribbon Ridge and a winery that would become Beaux Freres. Since those rough, early days he has produced some of the most consistently highly rated and regarded red and white wines in the state. In 2014, Etzel and his wife Carey Critchlow staked their claim in a new project with Sequitur (meaning “it follows”) based on their commitment to sustainability and natural winemaking. Whether it’s that farming or the Douglas fir trees that surround the estate, the wines of Sequitur are known for a structure and elegance rarely seen in American pinot noir. Lush and dense, these are bottles that can hold up to many years in the cellar, like the finest Burgundies.

Although these wines are always among the local wines popular with both Vinopolis employees and customers, we are lucky to have multiple vintages of Mike and Carey’s wines on offer right now.

Diebolt-Vallois Tradition Brut, Champagne NV 750ml $36 special, 48 bottles in stock
Winery note “Cuis, Epernay, Vallee de l’Ardre, Cote des Bars. 50% CH, 40% PN, 10% PM, 30 months sur lattes, 3g/l. Fall 2022 shipment: 15% 2017 + 85% 2018.”
No reviews for the current disgorgement.
Wine & Spirits 93 points “Deep in color, with rich scents of peach and toasty notes of fresh almond, this is clean and compact, finishing with the creaminess of hazelnut flan. What’s hard to describe is the beauty of its simple line—one taster compared it to the sleek design of a vintage Ferrari.”

Diebolt-Vallois Blanc de Blanc Brut, Champagne NV 750ml $39 special, 44 bottles in stock
Winery note “Cuis & Epernay. Fall 2022 shipment: 70% 2018, 20% 2016, 10% 2017, Cuis & Epernay, 36mo sur lattes, 3 g/l.”
No reviews for the current disgorgement.
Wine & Spirits 93 points “Youthfully bright and subtle, this blanc de blancs starts from a scent of caramel and apples, expanding into fresher directions of zesty mint and fennel. The texture is supple, the flavors succulent and appetite inducing. You could take it in the direction of langoustines or roast veal.”

Diebolt-Vallois Cuvee Prestige Brut, Champagne NV 750ml $39 special, 44 bottles in stock
No reviews for the current disgorgement.
Wine & Spirits 94 points “The austere power of this wine buzzes in the mouth, a tingle of limestone, apple flesh and the pale toast of lees. It’s a delicate, pure chardonnay that becomes dramatic in its intensity and breadth. The precision of the flavors will serve this well as it ages.”

Diebolt-Vallois Cuvee Blanc d Blance Brut, Champagne 2015 750ml $51.90 special, 23 bottles in stock

Andre Clouet Un Jour de 1911 Brut, Champagne NV 750ml $79 special, 21 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 96 points “[Reviewed 2021] The NV Un jour de 1911… is another 100% Bouzy Pinot Noir with an ancient label design. The shining golden-colored cuvée combines ripeness, complexity and finesse with intensity and elegance on both the nose and palate. It’s a powerful and rich yet very fine and balanced Champagne with great freshness and complex length. It is juicy and intense but also highly delicate, and its mineral tension and persistent finish make it a first-class wine for elaborate dishes. A great Champagne, with a label that doesn’t give any more detailed information regarding vintages or disgorgement date, but we know it’s always a 50/50 blend of three vintages (including one great millésime at least 10 years old) and reserve wines from a solera system. I tasted the wine as a Brut with Clouet’s German importer in Bremen. You shouldn’t drink it too early, as it would be a waste of its talents.”
James Suckling 95 points “[Reviewed 2021] A rich and expansive champagne with tons of mature aromas of dried fruit (apricots!) and candied orange. Teeters on the edge of decadence, but has enough vitality to stay on the right side of that line. Plenty of textural complexity on the palate and a long, chalky finish that keeps giving and giving. Spot-on balance. Drink or hold.”

Andre Clouet ‘Dream Vintage’ Brut, Champagne 2008 750ml $79 special, 11 bottles in stock
James Suckling 96 points “Such a classic Blanc de Blancs champagne with the special elegance, brilliance and minerality of the 2008 vintage. Very well structured, but without the austere acidity structure that some 2008s have. Long and very clean finish that sends you back to the glass. 100% chardonnay. Drink or hold.”

Guy Charlemagne (just 3 of 5 bottlings in-stock now)

Guy Charlemagne Brut Rose, Champagne NV 750ml $59 special, 56 bottles in stock
Wine Enthusiast 90 points “A beautifully balanced wine, this has great freshness from the red-currant flavors along with a tight, zesty texture and finishes with great acidity. This bottling is ready to drink now. -Roger Voss”
Winery note “This Champagne is made with our vineyards from Mancy and Cuis, with a chalky-clay soil. It is produced 100% from Pinot Noir. Its color is obtained by macerating the grapes with the juice, giving it the colour typical of « rosé de saignée ». Its nose is particularly marked by red berry notes. Elaborated in thermo regulated stainless steel and matured 2 years in our underground cellars, the Brut rosé with its subtle 8 grams per liter dosage is the fruit of a rigorous vinification. It is the ideal wine with which to celebrate the most beautiful emotions… A fine stream of bubbles underline a deep rose colour. The warm nose shows ripe berry aromas (blackberries) and cherries in alcohol. Its’ elegant mouth is dominated by cassis, blackberry and strawberry jam notes.”

Guy Charlemagne Brut Nature, Champagne NV 750ml $49 special, 37 bottles in stock
Wine Enthusiast 92 points “Produced from grapes grown in the Côte de Sézanne, south of Epernay, this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is properly dry. With acidity, the crispest white fruits and a taut, edgy texture, this bottling is young and will develop well as it matures, bringing out toastiness. Drink from 2020. -Roger Voss”
Winery note “For lovers of pure sensation, we have created this Brut Nature, Champagne without sugar, a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. This champagne, clean and fresh, reveals all the expression of the terroir and grapes from Sézanne Straw yellow colour. Steadily rising bubbles. Floral (white flowers) and fresh nose with light, intense and rising fruit aromas. Rich smooth with grapefruit aromas. Very good length that ends on a fresh note. Ideal aperitif wine or with seafood and fishes.”

Guy Charlemagne Mesnillesime Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut, Champagne 2014 750ml $119 special, 41 bottles in stock
Winery note “A Grand Champagne with character from the Côte des Blancs terroir, specifically from Le Mesnil sur Oger (limestone parcels averaging 60 years of age). This champagne produced from first press of Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru juices, highlights the exact characteristic of our village. Jewel of the Charlemagne house, this vintage wine combines both authenticity and the search for perfect quality. Elegantly presented with exceptional labelling, this Mesnillesime cuvee is produced with rigorous vinification, partially in oak barrels without malolactic fermentation, and a very light dosage of 4 grams per liter. Matured for 6 years in our chalk underground cellars, this cuvee highlights the excellence of our production. Chardonnay, the only grape here, shows what balance, harmony and purity can mean. A rare champagne for unforgettable moments. Pale yellow with green hues. Persistent mousse with very fine bubbles. Powerful yet elegant nose dominated by acacia honey eventually shows notes of candied lemon, smoke and a blend of pepper. Unctuous, lightly oaked and complex on the palate, candied fruit and citrus aromas pave the way to a fresh, vanilla finish.

Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne Cote d’Or Hemisphere Nord, Burgundy 2020 750ml $54.50 special, 6 bottles in stock
Burghound “An elegant and ripe nose combines notes of violet, red and dark currant and a whiff of crushed fennel. There is an appealing texture to the middle weight flavors that terminate in firm, serious and youthfully austere finish. This is really quite good for its level and worth considering.”
John Gilman “The 2020 Bourgogne “Côte d’Or” Rouge from Domaine Méo-Camuzet is a good, solid example of the appellation. The nose delivers scents of ripe dark berries, black cherries, bitter chocolate, a nice touch of soil and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is fullish, tangy and well-balanced, with just a touch of backend tannin perking up the long finish. Good juice. (Drink between 2024-2035)”
Wine Advocate “Unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, red berries and loamy soil, the 2020 Bourgogne Côte d’Or Cuvée Étienne Camuzet is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with excellent concentration, lively acids and ripe tannins. Jean-Nicolas Méo began his harvest on August 23, and he has produced another fine vintage at this Vosne-Romanée reference point. Méo has always done well in warm, sunny vintages (as a lovely bottle of his 2003 Nuits Lavières recently reminded me), and 2020 is no exception. Indeed, for a vintage that was generally somewhat primary and frequently tightly wound this winter, Méo’s wines—habitually quite backward after 12 months’ élevage—were remarkably put together and expressive. Mostly landing at around 13.5% alcohol, they’re vibrant, concentrated and nicely balanced, showing considerable aging potential.”

Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne Cote d’Or Cuvee Etienne Camuzet, Burgundy 2020 750ml $59 special, 3 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate “Unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, red berries and loamy soil, the 2020 Bourgogne Côte d’Or Cuvée Étienne Camuzet is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with excellent concentration, lively acids and ripe tannins.”

Meo-Camuzet Bourgogne Cote d’Or Hemisphere Sud, Burgundy 2020 750ml $69 special, 3 bottles in stock

Meo-Camuzet Marsannay, Cote de Nuits 2020 750ml $79 special, 2 bottles in stock

Meo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges, Cote de Nuits 2020 750ml $119 special, 3 bottles in stock
John Gilman 91 points “The domaine’s own parcel of vines for their Nuits St. Georges villages bottling always seem to produce a very elegant rendition of this appellation and the 2020 is no exception in this regard. The wine offers up a classy aromatic constellation of black plums, dark soil tones, gamebird, coffee bean, woodsmoke and a deft framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with fine transparency and grip, ripe tannins and lovely length and grip on the bouncy and complex finish. Fine juice. 2030-2065.”

Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee, Cote de Nuits 2020 750ml $159 special, 3 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 90-92 points “Aromas of wild berries, plums, warm spices and loamy soil, framed by a deft touch of toasty new oak, introduce Méo’s 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village, a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated wine that’s bright and vibrant, built around powdery tannins and concluding with a penetrating finish.”
John Gilman 91 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée AC from Domaine Méo-Camuzet is again from estate grown fruit and the wine has that extra touch of refinement as is found in the Nuits AC this year. The nose is a lovely, sappy blend of cassis, black plums, coffee bean, a complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure on the attack, with a good core of black fruit, fine soil undertow, ripe tannins, tangy acids and fine balance on the long, focused and still quite primary finish. Good juice. 2030-2065.”
Jasper Morris 91-94 points “Fine glowing deep purple. Here there is both depth and class. This is a blend from Aux Communes, ripe fruit, and north facing Barreaux, now assembled and returned to barrel. This works really well together with the plummy ripe notes kept well in check. Very long finish. I think this could be exceptional.”

Meo-Camuzet Les Cras, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru 2020 750ml $199 special, 2 bottles in stock
John Gilman 92 points “All of the Chambolle premier cru bottlings in the domaine’s cellars this year are quite black fruity in personality, in the style of the vintage. The 2020 les Cras offers up a fine aromatic constellation of dark berries, black plums, pigeon, chalky soil tones, a touch of balsam bough, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off fine mid-palate depth, with lovely soil undertow, bright acids, good grip and a long, ripely tannic finish.”
Wine Advocate 90-92 points “A fine success, the 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras (Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs) exhibits aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with rose petals and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it’s taut and mouthwatering, with fine depth at the core and powdery structuring tannins.

Meo-Camuzet Les Chaumes, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru 2020 750ml $249 special, 3 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 91-93 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, cassis and rose petals, framed by a discreet patina of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a saline finish, it is very promising.”
Vinous 92-94 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a very pure and perfumed bouquet with dark cherries, violet and hints of blueberry, the floral component emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, silky in texture with a poised and almost delicate finish. A very winsome Vosne-Romanée in the making here.”
John Gilman 92 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée “les Chaumes” from Domaine Méo Camuzet is another fine bottle in the making. The bouquet is bright, black fruity and nascently complex, wafting from the glass in a mix of black cherries, black plums, bitter chocolate, roasted duck, dark soil tones and new oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and ripely tannic, with a good core and soil undertow, lovely focus and a long, well-balanced finish. 2035-2080.”
Jasper Morris 92-94 points “Solid dark purple with a lighter rim. The nose is discreet but fine. The fruit expands considerably on the palate, on the cusp of red and black, somewhere between optimum and maximum ripeness but everything in harmony here.”

Meo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits 2019 750ml $449 special, 2 bottles in stock
Vinous 95-97 points “The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is quite closed on the nose, offering discreet blackberry, raspberry and light violet aromas that you might mistake for a Vosne-Romanée. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins. This is a juicy Clos de Vougeot, a little savory and quite peppery on the finish, which you might misconstrue as a result of some stem addition. Sculpted with Jean-Nicolas Méo’s finest chisel, this is a wonderful Clos de Vougeot.”

Meo-Camuzet Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits 2020 750ml $499 special, 3 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 93-95 points ” The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is very promising, unfurling in the glass with aromas of wild berries, cherries, orange rind, potpourri and loamy soil. Full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, it’s seamless and complete, with superb depth at the core and a long, resonant finish. It will be fascinating to compare with the 2019 rendition in two decades’ time.
Vinous 93-95 points ” The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru had to shake off a little reduction before revealing its minerally blackberry, raspberry and cassis fruit. Wilted rose petal emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, nicely focused yet surprisingly strict and linear at the moment. This will gain “shoulders” once in bottle.”
John Gilman 94 points “Jean-Nicolas Méo’s 2020 Clos Vougeot is really, really refined this year. The wine delivers a complex and very pure aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, plums, dark chocolate, gamebird, violets, a touch of fresh nutmeg, complex soil tones and a nice foundation of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core of sappy fruit, excellent mineral undertow and grip, ripe, buried tannins and impeccable balance on the long, suave and classy finish. Fine, fine juice. (Drink between 2035-2095)”

Meo-Camuzet Aux Brulees, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru 2020 750ml $899 special, 3 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 94-96 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis, raw cocoa, burning embers, espresso roast, exotic spices and orange rind. Full-bodied, velvety and complete, it’s exquisitely balanced, with a deep and concentrated core of fruit framed by melting tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, resonant finish.”
Vinous 95-97 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is very poised on the nose, quite intense although it is a slow-build, gradually adding another layer of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite elegant and pure with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. Great tension and quite sophisticated, this Aux Brûlées should age with style.”
John Gilman 96 points “Jean-Nicolas Méo’s 2020 Vosne-Romanée “aux Brûlées” is another stunning wine in the making. The bouquet is pure, precise and complex, wafting from the glass in a blaze of black plums, sweet dark berries, duck, dark chocolate, a gorgeous base of soil, a fine framing of new oak and a lovely topnote of fresh nutmeg. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very suave on the attack, with a sappy core of fruit, great mineral drive, ripe, fine-grained tannins, tangy acids and a very, very long, complex and utterly seamless finish.”

Meo-Camuzet Au Cros Parantoux, Vosne-Romanee Premier Cru 750ml $3999 special, 2 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 94-96 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Au Cros-Parantoux reveals aromas of red berries, plums, orange rind and cherries, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and incisive, it’s more tightly wound and introverted than the Richebourg, as is usually the case. Patience in élevage and in bottle will be required, but the wine’s raw materials are prodigious.”
Vinous 95-97 points “The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Cros Parantoux 1er Cru showed just a tiny reduction on the nose, but that cannot contain the layers of red fruit, wilted violet, oyster shell and sea spray aromas. The palate is silky smooth on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, silky smooth, poised and offering a kaleidoscope of red and blue fruit mixed with allspice and clove on the persistent finish. Stunning.”
John Gilman 97+ points “Jean-Nicolas’ 2020 Cros Parantoux is another stunning wine. The bouquet is pure, complex and still fairly primary, offering up a celestial combination of red and black plums, a touch of raspberry, black cherries, duck, Vosne spices, a complex base of stony soil tones and nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very deep, with lovely sappiness buried in the core, exquisite mineral drive and grip, ripe, suave tannins and a very, very long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. A simply gorgeous wine. 2038-2100.”
