This is the only listing in the USA today for the magnum!
Domaine Dujac Les Folatieres, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru 2019 1.5L $599 special, 1 magnum in stock now
Burghound 91-93 points “Outstanding! Smoky reduction currently overshadows the underlying fruit though there is fine freshness and verve to the nicely delineated middle weight flavors that are supported by firm acidity on the clean, dry and linear finale. Like the 2018 version, this attractively persistent effort could use better depth, but the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur.”
This is the lowest listed price in the USA today for the magnum!
Domaine des Heritiers du Comte Lafon Macon Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette 2022 1.5L $89 special, 2 magnums in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 90 points “The 2022 Mâcon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette has a quite backward nose that needs more tension. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, much more expressive than the aromatics, with a peachy, seductive finish. Lovely. But the nose needs to step up a gear.”
This is the only listing in the USA today for the double-magnum!
Domaine Hubert Lamy Les Frionnes, Saint-Aubin Premier Cru 2017 3L $599 special, 1 double-magnum in stock now
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 93 points “Wafting from the glass with scents of citrus oil, crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers and iodine, Lamy’s 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes is medium to full-bodied, enveloping and incisive, with a crisp core of fruit, lively acids and a precise, mineral finish. Seamless and complete, this has come together beautifully in bottle.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Domaine Michel Juillot Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 2016 1.5L $289 special, 7 magnums in stock now
Burghound 91 points “Generous wood dominates the otherwise fresh green apple, pear and white flower scents. There is ample minerality on the solidly dense and relatively powerful medium weight flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel that contrasts markedly with the powerful and impressively long finish where the wood is again quite prominent. I can’t say that the style appeals to me as the wood is more than I prefer but this should still make for fine drinking in a few years time.”
This is the lowest listed price in the USA today for the magnum!
Bret Brothers La Soufrandiere Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Quarts Cuvee Zen, Mâconnais 2022 1.5L $169 special, 2 magnums in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 93 points “[Review for sulfured version] The 2022 Pouilly-Vinzelles Climat Les Quarts comes from 50 to 85-year-old vines at the top of the slope. It has a very detailed bouquet. It’s minerally and lightly spiced with a touch of peppermint coming through with aeration. The palate is cohesive on the entry, perhaps with a touch more weight than the Les Longeays, fresh with a slightly honeyed finish, evidencing the warmth of the growing season. Give this a couple of years in bottle because it has huge potential.”
This is the only listing in the USA today for the magnum!
Domaine de Montille Les Pezerolles, Pommard Premier Cru 2016 1.5L $289 special, 2 magnums in stock now
Stephen Tanzer-Vinous 91-93 points “(from the north side of Pommard above Les Grands Epenots on active limestone soil; vinified with one-third whole clusters and aged in one-third new oak): Good dark red. Tight aromas of black cherry, redcurrant and rust (there’s a bit of iron in the soil here as well), lifted by a floral quality. Savory and fine-grained, with red berry flavors enlivened by saline minerality. Not a big wine but offers an attractive blend of sweet, savory and acidic elements. This minerally, salty wine finishes with big, mouth-dusting tannins.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Domaine Faiveley Les Saint-Georges, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru 2019 1.5L $419 special, 1 magnum in stock now
Neal Martin-Vinous 93-95 points “The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru is an equal blend from Faiveley’s own vines and contract growers, plus a barrel from the Hospices de Nuits. It has a very perfumed and floral bouquet of red berry fruit complemented by wilted violets and potpourri. The medium-bodied palate offers crunchy red berry fruit laced with balsamic. Quite energetic and well defined toward the harmonious finish, which leaves a tang of white pepper on the aftertaste. This is a superb Les Saint-Georges.”
Domaine Michel Lafarge Pitures, Volnay Premier Cru 2022 1.5L $375 special, 2 magnums in stock now
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 91-93 points “Taut and mineral, the 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Pitures reveals aromas of dark berries, cherries, spices and mint. Medium to full-bodied, layered and lively, with powdery tannins and a chalky finish, it’s generally bottled only in magnum.”
Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Rouge 2022 1.5L $119 special, 2 magnums in stock now
“The 2022 Marsannay Rouge is a mixture of Domaine and négoce wines (from Pataille’s father). Initially, it is a little timid, but it opens nicely with aeration, bringing flinty black fruit with the 80% whole bunches imparting a light pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with granular tannins, fresh and vibrant, finishing with a touch of black olive.” -Neal Martin-Vinous

Pedro Guillermo by Peter William Pinot Gris, Rogue Valley 2024 750ml $18 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Our first Pinot Gris, under the “Pedro Guillermo” value label. Sourced from a vineyard (which we cannot name) in the Applegate Valley. The wine shows bright pears and citrus on the nose and palate, with great acidity to hold the fruit. It is a great summer wine, bright enough for hot weather, but with enough body to go with almost any meal.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Sauvignon Blanc, Rogue Valley 2022 750ml $21.90 special, 13 bottles in stock now
VinopolNote: Their second vintage of Sauvignon Blanc, this is made in the style of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc and shows grassy and flinty notes.
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Egan Vineyard Chardonnay, Rogue Valley 2022 750ml $26.50 special, 14 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The Egan Vineyard was formerly known as the Gold vineyard, re-named for the new owners. Originally the vineyard of Rogue Valley wine legend Randy Gold. This wine was produced for us by Eric Weisinger. This one has approximately 20% new French Oak (with the remainder done in neutral oak). A subtle toasty quality from the oak is just enough to accent the wine, without overpowering the fruit. Rich, balanced, creamy, with just a hint of spice & oak.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Daisy Creek Vineyard Viognier, Rogue Valley 2023 750ml $26 special, 24 bottles in stock now
Norm Roby-Wine Review Online 95 points “Though most Rhône varieties thrive in its estate vineyard, the winery reaches out for Viognier from the nearby Daisy Creek Vineyard. The result is an exceptionally rich and balanced Viognier that sets the bar high. All the fruit for this 2023 was harvested on September 19th, and was whole cluster pressed and barrel fermented. Light yellow in color, it offers a lovely mix of ripe peach, mango and honeysuckle on the nose. Medium-bodied and concentrated, it opens up and delivers plenty of peach and lychee flavors with some ginger in its aftertaste. Balanced and creamy in texture with nuanced oak in the background, it ends on a long note of delicious fruit.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Vineyard Grenache Rosé, Rogue Valley 2023 750ml $24 special, 20 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The wine shows bright, pretty strawberry & light cherry fruit on the nose and palate. Ample acid brightens the fruit flavors and will allow this wine to hold up in the bottle.”
No reviews for the 2023 vintage. 2022 review provided for reference.
Norm Roby-Wine Review Online 93 points “From the family’s estate vineyard, this wine was made by Eric Weisinger at his winery in Ashland. The Rosé category has been surging over recent years and one of the intriguing sub plots relates to color. Does a Rosé wine have to be pink? Apparently not, as more and more winemakers work with Rosés. This wine has a slight copper color in the clear bottle, but when in the glass looks even lighter. But it is no wimpy Rosé. Once you get over that lack of color, this wine gets your attention by offering an enticing youthful fragrance of fresh raspberry along with floral notes, and delicious flavors of berries and spice. Medium bodied and vibrant, it finishes with a lingering touch of acidity.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Vineyard Malbec, Rogue Valley 2019 750ml $29 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Norm Roby-Wine Review Online 92 points “Unable to decide which vintage should be released first, the winery decided to offer both its 2018 and 2019 Malbec at the same time and price. Both are from the same vineyard block made by the same winemaker. Both were aged 18 months in 30% new oak barrels. The major difference is the oak; in 2018 it was American, whereas the oak in 2019 is French. The differences were subtle, but with time in the glass the 2019 displayed more finesse and complexity. It comes across as a pretty, elegant Malbec with spiced dark plum fruit and baking spice flavors, refined, smooth tannin and light oak. Overall, the 2019 has more polish and a potential to develop with short term cellaring.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Vineyard PWV ‘Les Candives’ Reserve Red, Rogue Valley 2018 750ml $33 special, 31 bottles in stock now
Norm Roby-Wine Review Online 94 points “Of the three Syrahs made by this winery in 2018, this one is 100% Syrah made from the estate vineyard and aged entirely in French oak, 50% new. To distinguish it from the others, the winery went with the “Candives” name, said to be an alternate name for Syrah used in the tiny village of Chavanay in the Northern Rhone Valley. As fine as the other 2018s are, this is so dark, dense, and dramatic that the special name is certainly merited. Loaded with ripe black fruit, it also has layers of spice, hints of clove and violets, light leather, toast, and pepper that evolve in the glass. Ultra smooth and seamless, it is beautiful now but will also bring rewards with cellaring.”

Peter William Vineyard PWV ‘Extravagance’ Proprietary Reserve Red, Rogue Valley 2020 750ml $36 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Michael Alberty-Wine Enthusiast 90 points “This is a 50-50 Syrah-Tempranillo blend where the Syrah is co-fermented with 3% Viognier. It is packed with concentrated blackberry and balsamic aromas and flavors. The tiniest notes of orange blossom and lemon add contrast, and the wine’s thick texture is matched with grippy tannins.”

Markus Molitor Kinheimer Hubertuslay Riesling Auslese ** Trocken White Capsule, Mosel 2019 750ml $51.90 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 95+ points “The 2019 Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese ** (White Capsule) displays an intense yet remarkably refined slate and ripe-fruit aroma. Round, lush and piquant on the palate, with a crystalline and salty, very delicate yet vibrantly fresh acidity, this is a full-bodied, intense and complex, very long and textural Hubertuslay from finely weathered slate soils. The finish is long, fresh and round as well as grippy, salty and piquant. Still young and with fine tannins, the 2019 will benefit from bottle aging. Tasted in May 2021.”

Markus Molitor Kinheimer Hubertuslay Riesling Auslese *** Gold Capsule, Mosel 2013 375ml $49 special, 8 half-bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 97 points “The 2013 Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese *** needs a little but of time to open up and show its finest, intense raisin aromas indicating grapefruit/lemon and pineapples on a piquant background. Rich, oily textured and extremely elegant on the palate, the wine offers a lavish tropical juiciness quoting pineapples, but is stunningly pure and piquant. The finish is beautifully balanced and highly elegant. This is perfectly made.”

Markus Molitor Kinheimer Hubertuslay Riesling Auslese *** Gold Capsule, Mosel 2016 750ml $89 special, 9 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 98 points “Tasted again in May 2018 along with the corresponding Graacher Himmelreich Auslese *** the 2016 Riesling Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) opens with a very clear and floral flavored bouquet intertwined with finest flinty aromas and a generous ripeness but also precision. Fascinating! The palate is generously sweet but elegant, highly finessed and almost weightless in its perfect balance. This fruit is irresistible! Perfectly ripe and healthy raisins, finest Riesling berries from a fastidious selection process. The finish is so incredibly delicious that it is almost impossible to share a bottle: You will most probably have emptied the bottle on your own before you will have realised that your counterpart likes second glass as well. This is so filigreed and utterly balanced that it’s nothing but a gorgeous drinking experience. Ripe pears in the aftertaste.”

Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 99 points “The 2017 Riesling Kinheimer Hubertuslay Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) is clear and concentrated, on the deep and complex nose with stewed peach aromas intertwined with spicy notes of a fleeting kiss of oak and nougat. It has a highly elegant, refined and salty-piquant palate with fine grip and mineral tension. This Hubertuslay is rich, lush and sweet, with remarkable concentration but also weightless finesse and a lean, salty-piquant finish that tickles the palate. Lemon chutney flavors intertwined with the crystalline salinity characterize the long finish of this beauty. Tasted at the domain in April 2019.”

Piquant and fresh on the first attack, this is a crystalline, finely grippy and lingering salty Auslese with great tension, finesse and terroir expression. This is an Auslese to keep for another 5-10 years. This is very precise and piquant and still grippy, but it will smoothen with time. Tasted in May 2021.”

Grape of the Week:
Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo in Valtellina)
As the Alps dramatically ease their way from the north of Italy to Switzerland, the small wine region of Valtellina is nestled between snow-peaked mountains, rolling hills, and meandering rivers. With regard to northern Italian wine and Nebbiolo-at-large, Valtellina is one of those best-kept-secrets. It is home to some of the most ethereal and mineral driven expressions of wine in the world, thanks to its incredible Nebbiolo, known locally as Chiavennasca. Naturally insulated from the rest of the country due to the topography, the villagers practice winemaking exactly as they have for centuries.
One of the region’s finest wine producers – and likely the best-known – is ArPePe. Arturo Pelizzatti Perego (who went by ArPePe) family’s winemaking roots in the area go back centuries. He helped elevate the winery and region alike to global recognizance and appreciation before his passing in 2004.
The Rosso is 100% Nebbiolo, offering an easy-drinking ready-to-go style while the other wines cellar. They craft several Valtellina Superiore and Riserva wines identified by their subzone (Grumello, Sassella, and Inferno), all from the heart of the region. Grumello, ArPePe’s home subzone, has steep and rocky terraces ranging from 350 to 600 meters above sea level. Sassella is the most famous and largest subzone, with steep terraces winding from 270 to 600 meters in elevation. Inferno, likely named for the summer heat it experiences, is the smallest subzone ArPePe works with but offers a wide diversity of slopes and aspects despite a narrower elevation. From these regions, ArPePe crafts magnificent offerings of Nebbiolo that rival Piedmont’s finest.

ArPePe ‘Il Pettirosso’, Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2019 750ml $51.90 special, 35 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The pettirosso (robin redbreast) can be found everywhere in the woods that now look down on the Valtellina, which was once under vine far higher up. Robins rarely enter the cellar, but that day one came in and alighted on an old wooden barrel, as if warning us of something. A few days later, while she was tasting the wine, Isabella noticed there was a slight leak from one of the acacia staves. The wine appeared to be ready for bottling, but the barrel unfortunately needed replacing. There wasn’t enough to warrant a new label so she and Emanuele chose a few barrels of that ’97 – the most mature – and it became Il Pettirosso. Arturo designed the first labels and so, to continue the family tradition, Isabella asked her husband Enrico to do it, in view of the success of the first: the Rosso di Valtellina. On some special evenings, Il Pettirosso comes to dinner on the terraces above Sondrio, chirping merrily. Only in the case of some vintages, our cellar tastings suggest that we make a Valtellina Superiore as the unanimous expression of the three central areas of the DOCG. The maceration and ageing are decided on the spot, almost like an actor improvising the plot of a play. It seems that the plot written by Arturo provides the perfect ground for building up the wines of tomorrow.”

James Suckling 95 points “Intense floral nose of red and dark fruit, with a slightly peppery, almost meaty character. There is a lot of stony minerality. Tight-knit structure with fruit and acidity that are crisp and zesty, ripe tannins, a velvety texture and a medium body. Good cherry fruit finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.”

ArPePe Sassella Ultimi Raggi Riserva, Valtellina Superiore 2016 750ml $119 special, 3 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 95 points “Aromas of graphite, game, earth, red cherries and dark berries. Dense palate with dusty yet ripe tannins, refreshing acidity and a medium to full body. A lot of good substance that still needs time to integrate and gain complexity. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.”
