94+ Point Spanish Values

All Under $20

Priorat and its neighbor, Montsant, make some of the most profound wines in Spain, at prices that make them exceptionally good buys.  The deals we’re offering today, though, push the quality to price ratio beyond the rational: three wines, all under $20, all with 94 point or higher scores from a reviewer (Jeb Dunnuck) who used to work for the Advocate and isn’t known for score inflation.

The top two wines are part of the “Black Slate” project that Eric Solomon created to highlight different terroirs in Priorat.

Continue to Arrive

Josh Raynold’s recent Oregon Pinot reviews have confirmed what we’ve been saying all along—our state makes some of the finest Pinot Noir in the word, especially when price is factored into the equation.  Simply put, the combination of high quality vintages and winemakers has turned the Willamette Valley into one of the best sources of top-flight wines we’ve found.  We highlighted a number of in-stock wines last week and today we’re focusing on an assortment of top wines arriving Friday.

New Wine Spectator Insider Reviews for Produttori

“Produttori del Barbaresco recently released its 2014 range of Barbaresco riservas. The cooperative, founded in 1958, makes some of the best traditional-style wines in the region. In all, there are nine single-vineyard riservas coming entirely from the commune of Barbaresco. The 2014 vintage in Piedmont was challenged by rain, but the Barbaresco region fared better than neighboring Barolo…

“The wines are more elegant, vibrant and detailed, and more approachable than the austere and structured 2013s, and they’re lighter than the powerful, fleshy and fruity 2011s, the last two vintages released of the Produttori’s single-vineyard riservas.
