Oregon Chardonnay

What makes Oregon wine so special? What magic that lives in these lands can be captured in a bottle? Could it be the essence of its pioneering community-driven people, its strata of soil types and elevations planted mostly to Burgundian varieties? Maybe the majesty is only revealed when observed and imbibed by admirers—near and far. Or could it be some subtle alchemy that combines all of the above together to gift us something greater than the sum of its parts?

When we see the smile of a winemaker as he shares a sip from a treasured barrel or the grape grower stooping in the field to prune her cherished vines, we’re joining hands with the story of this humble paradise. You can come, too.

From the sun-drenched ridges of the Yamhill-Calton, to the rolling slopes of the Eola-Amity Hills, across the stately Dundee Hills, and the wind-swept Van Duzer corridor, these are our people, our land, and our cherished wines. We’re thrilled to share this bounty, and are offering our entire collection of forty-six in-stock Oregon Chardonnays on our three-day sale, starting now!

Evesham Wood Le Puits Sec Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“Our mere quarter of an acre of 1991-planted Chardonnay in Le Puits Sec might be small, but it produces a mighty Chardonnay—often a favorite of each and every vintage. This micro-block of Chardonnay is at the top of our Le Puits Sec (facing east), on a mix of volcanic Nekia and Jory soils. Barrel fermented and aged in one neutral barrel and a younger half-barrel. 45 cases produced.”

The Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $44.50, that’s $42.28 at 5% off and $40.05 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 92 points
“The 2022 Chardonnay Estate has inviting aromas of dried apples, mixed nuts, beeswax and spicy undertones. The medium-bodied palate offers surprisingly concentrated, savory flavors. Its luxurious, mouth-coating texture is balanced by mouthwatering acidity, and it has a long, flavorful finish.”

Haden Fig Juliette Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $36, that’s $34.20 at 5% off and $32.40 at 10% off, 20 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“This vintage of Juliette was entirely sourced from Mahonia Vineyard in the un-official South Salem Hills. As is our practice with the Haden Fig Chardonnays, this wine was fermented in barrel without battonage and only racked when the selection was made between our Juliette and Willamette Valley designations after 10 months. The WV went to the blending tank and this Juliette was racked (dirty) into other neutral barrels. This year, our experimentation with the Juliette included blending and holding the wine in tank for an extended period toward the end of its elevage. So, unlike previous iterations of Juliette, we racked this wine (clean) into a stainless-steel tank after 14 months where it rested for an additional 2 months. It’s delicious!”

Jachter Raindance Foothills Vineyard Chardonnay, Chehalem Mountains 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $24, that’s $22.80 at 5% off and $21.60 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“A bright medium straw hue. Notes of pineapple, toasted brioche, white peach, and minerality. Bright, medium-bodied, and fresh. This chardonnay awakens the palate with bright acidity, tropical citrus flavors, and a ribbon of salinity with a lingering finish. Dijon Clone 76 in New French Oak for 10 months. More about the vineyard: While growing up in Newberg, Foothills Christmas Tree Farm was the place that wine grower, Ken Austin and his family visited each year to get their tree. When Ken and his wife Celia purchased the tree farm, it had gone untouched for many years. Thirty-plus-year-old Christmas trees were cleared to make way for the vineyard, revealing an amazing view! Once the vineyard was planted, Ken & Celia decided to honor that memory and kept the name, Foothills.”

Kelley Fox Wines Durant Vineyard Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 20 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“I love the Durant Chardonnay so much that when the opportunity arose in 2023 to increase its production, I jumped on it. The 2023 is a radiant, light sunshine yellow with shining, pale gold tones and is brilliantly transparent. The nose is very fresh and filled with layers of creamy citrus. The mouth continues the mixed citrus with some noticeable structure along with soft minerals and vanilla bean. The 2023 has beautiful texture and a lasting finish with a hint of pain grille that balances the fruit. Appellation: Dundee Hills A.V.A. Picking Date: 9 October 2023. Élevage: concrete amphora tanks. Bottling Date: 9 April 2024. Alcohol: 13.0 %. Cases Produced: (551) cases.”

Peter William Vineyard Egan Vineyard Chardonnay, Rogue Valley 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $26.50, that’s $25.18 at 5% off and $23.85 at 10% off, 14 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“The Egan Vineyard was formerly known as the Gold vineyard, re-named for the new owners. Originally the vineyard of Rogue Valley wine legend Randy Gold. This wine was produced for us by Eric Weisinger. This one has approximately 20% new French Oak (with the remainder done in neutral oak). A subtle toasty quality from the oak is just enough to accent the wine, without overpowering the fruit. Rich, balanced, creamy, with just a hint of spice & oak.”

James Suckling 93 points
“A deliciously vibrant chardonnay with lemons, jasmine, brown rice, hazelnuts, white grapefruit and apricots. It’s medium-bodied, sleek and elegant, with gentle butter and pastry undertones to the fresh fruit. Long and creamy at the end. Drink now or hold.”

Winery Note
“Subtle and bright with lemon, tide pool and white flowers. Raw and intensely structured. Excellent with Torkes oysters from Netarts Bay, Oregon. Fermented and aged in barrel for 10 months then transferred to steel tank for 6 months. From the AVA’s of Yamhill-Carlton, Chehalem Mountains, Lower Long Tom, Dundee Hills. A blend of 8 vineyards from the Willamette Valley.”

Tan Fruit Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $54.50, that’s $51.78 at 5% off and $49.05 at 10% off, 36+ bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 95 points
“The 2022 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard comes from a block of Dijon clone vines planted in 1991 in the Dundee Hills on a steep, south-facing slope at 675 feet of elevation. Barrel fermented and matured for 10 months in 15% new French oak, plus four months in stainless steel, it’s reminiscent of Chablis and boasts exceptionally pure aromas. It opens with flint and petrichor before blossoming to apricot, elderflower liqueur, lime peel and hazelnuts. The palate is vibrant and silky with understated layers of creamy, peachy fruit, and its linear acidity and flinty tones come together for a shimmery finish. For several days after it’s opened, the Maresh Vineyard becomes more and more expressive, pointing to a long life in the cellar.”

Tan Fruit Maresh Vineyard “Extra Tan” Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $79, that’s $75.05 at 5% off and $71.10 at 10% off, 30 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 97 points
“This bone-dry chardonnay is crafted from cluster selection at Maresh Vineyard, with 50% of the grapes affected by botrytis, yet the influence remains subtle and clean. A broad spectrum of aromatics, with pink nectarines, white cherries and white pepper lifting from the glass. Big yet weightless, with a cloudy, almost ethereal presence. Structured, with subtle tannins and a solid mineral backbone. Long and massive, yet never heavy, with extra layers of depth. From old-vine Wente clone planted in 1983. Drink or hold.”

White Walnut Estate ‘North Blocks’ Chardonnay, Dundee Hills 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 17 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 95+ points
“The 2021 Chardonnay Estate North Blocks is dynamic, energetic and built for the cellar. It unwinds slowly from initial matchstick aromas to yellow peaches, ginger, meringue, jasmine and fresh green herbs. The medium-bodied palate features continually unfolding flavors that range from nuts and honey to ripe citrus. Its linear acidity and flinty character give it a shimmery feel, and it has a very long, kaleidoscopic finish. It will be long lived in the cellar.”

Rosé of the Day:

Gamay Rosé from Bow & Arrow and Domaine de Vissoux

Scott Frank founded Bow & Arrow as a celebration of his love of Loire Valley wines. He looks to craft lean and food-friendly wines with a jovial soul that hides depths within the crunchy acidity in a way that only natural winemakers seem able to capture. This Gamay rosé is full of fruit, personality, and zippy acidity.

If you’re looking for bigger and bolder, try the Beaujolais rosé from Domaine du Vissoux. This is also 100% Gamay, but shows are darker fruit profile with spice and citrus. Pair Bow & Arrow with light dishes like salads and snack foods, while the Vissoux will take on juicy chicken sausage or ham. Either way, you’re in for a treat with a cool glass of pink Gamay!

In Stock Now:

Bow & Arrow Rosé of Gamay Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2024 750ml $21.90 special, 13 bottles in stock now
Winery Note
“This year’s rosé is a short maceration of Gamay from the organically farmed Rooker Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Natural as can be! It’s a stainless steel fermented study on wet rocks and perhaps a border skirmish between watermelon Jolly Ranchers and Grapefruit Jarritos. Unyeasted, unfiltered, unfined and unmanipulated. Only made in years that lend themselves to making quality rose. Our smallest production.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!
Pierre-Marie Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Les Griottes Rosé, Beaujolais 2023 750ml $17.50 special, 10 bottles in stock now
“The 2023 Rosé Griottes speaks in hushed tones. Simple notes of peach, orange peel and chamomile run through both nose and palate. Easygoing and uncomplicated, this is a decent poolside quaff.” -Billy Norris, Vinous
