The modern incarnation of Faiveley began in 2007 when the seventh generation of Faiveleys took over management: siblings Eve and Erwan Faiveley. They have transformed the winemaking, retaining the age-worthiness that defined the domaine, while coaxing out more youthful charm.
 
The wines of Faiveley, while always of superlative quality, were more often described as concentrated, stern, and ageable instead of approachable and charming. It could be why they tended to capture the hearts in their native country than in America: the French people and restaurants have more patience and inclination for cellaring.
 
Even small changes to the style of a domaine dating back to 1825 is considered revolutionary in Burgundy, and there were a number of people who were afraid that the transition would ruin one of the anchors of the region.

Austrian wines rarely get the attention they deserve despite the dedicated love of wine nerds and sommeliers. If Austrians crafted their wines in France, these biodynamic, single-vineyard, Grand Cru, and food-friendly gems from thousand-year-old wineries would be three times as expensive. Instead, we get the best value high end whites in the world.
 
The Kamptal region in Austrian is the slightly less famous brother to the Wachau. As a result, the best wines are somehow an even better value. The quality is on par, so the wines from the likes of Bründlmayer end up being the best deals across the Old World.
