A Collectible-Quality Red at Value Pricing
There are very few wines that are in the same class as Valle Reale’s 2018 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.  Only bottlings from legendary producers like Valentini (2012 – 94+ Vinous, $300+) or Emidio Pepe (2016 – 94 Vinous, $80+) have scored as highly as the 94 points that Ian d’Agata awarded to Valle Reale’s most recent release.  The big difference between those two and Valle Reale? Price. Valle Reale’s 94 point bottling costs just $14, or $12.42 by the case.

Champagne Christophe Baron

Christophe Baron is best known as the winemaker and founder of Cayuse, in Walla Walla, where he makes a range of wines that inspire cult-like fervor and desire.  It’s not well known that he hails from Champagne, returning there early in the decade to start making bubbles under his own name.  We’re proud to be one of the few retailers in the country to present the first of those champagnes—the 2014 Champagne Christophe Baron.

The 2018 has all you want from the wine. It’s salty, fizzy, and refreshing with a hint of red berries. It’s like drinking sparkling mineral water with a lemon twist and raspberry garnish.

This is a classic Cote de Blancs Champagne.  Minerally, rich and compelling, it’s tragically overlooked in the world of grower Blanc de Blancs but deserves to be on your New Year’s table. – Suzanne
