A Dual 94 Point Priorat, 45% Off

Ferrer Bobet is one of the hottest names in Priorat, producing some of the most impactful wines in the region.  They’re known for marrying stylishness and elegance to the raw power that Priorat always delivers, making them some of the most coveted wines in Barcelona’s cutting edge culinary scene.  We’ve offered their entry-level bottling before (and indeed, have the 2016 arriving later this month) but just secured a stellar price for their next tier up—the intense Vinyes Velles (old vines) bottling.

Subscriber Special Blow Out!

Winemaker Eric Prissette started out in Bordeaux in the 90’s and then wandered over to Languedoc to see what the terroir and grapes could offer. Here he set out purposely to make “wines you can drink” with a purity of fruit. With the Villa Symposia he has certainly succeeded. The 2013 is mostly Syrah with a little Mourvedre, plenty of red fruit and a little spice, perfectly structured with a velvety and integrated texture. If you love a juicy Syrah, grab this one up at half the price of the typical Northern Rhone!

Marques de Murrieta’s Profound

Castillo Ygay

Marques de Murrieta is one of the great pillars of classical Rioja—a titan of the region that’s responsible for some of the greatest wines ever produced in Spain.  They resemble a more polished, powerful version of Lopez de Heredia in some ways, sharing age-worthiness but offering up a distinctly more fruit-driven profile in youth.  Their flagship, the always impressive Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial, has garnered multiple high marks from professional reviewers.
