Honored to have such an honorable guest, the Franciscan Friars prepared a grand banquet full of good faith and free flowing wine. When the Bishop was handed a glass, he exclaimed his satisfaction, begging to know what the wine was called. At the time, there was no name. Thinking quickly, one monk replied “Blood of Jupiter”, inspired by the wines deep color, as red as blood, and the name of the hill the monastery was built upon, Monte Giove (Jupiter Mountain).
