Casanova Di Neri Brunello Giovanni Neri 2018 750ml $269 special, 9 bottles available
Wine Advocate 96 Points “Here’s an exciting and important new addition to the Casanova di Neri portfolio. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Giovanni Neri is shapely and enriched in an extremely pleasing manner. The Neri family has perfected its approach to concentration and fruit weight over the many years they have been making excellent wines.

Clos Erasmus Laurel Priorat 2020 750ml $51.90 special, 30 bottles available
Wine Advocate 96 Points “2020 was a challenging year that gave them a lot of work in the vineyard, but it it paid off. The 2020 Laurel feels very elegant, balanced and fresh, a little lighter perhaps, with perfectly ripe tannins, a little in line with 2016 or 2013. It might be a little unusual for the house style or perhaps a slight change, as they are gradually going for softer vinifications; you don’t really need to extract in Priorat, because the wines are powerful enough on their own.

“Vega Sicilia”
Vega Sicilia Pintia Toro 2018 750ml $79 special, 12 bottles available
Wine Advocate 95 Points “The nose is very expressive, with bright cherry fruit, and the wine is fresher than the norm in the region, with integrated alcohol and oak, reflecting a very cool year, floral and perfumed. The palate is medium-bodied and reveals very fine and elegant tannins. This has to be one of the finest vintages of Pintia.”

Vinopolnote “One of our favorite Italian red blends. Made from 95% Nerello mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccino grown in the volcanic soils of Mount Etna. Red fruits with complex herbaceous and mineral notes on the palate alongside polished, but firm tannins combine for a very satisfying finish.

“Casanova di Neri”

The Neri family has two new wines to present. The biggest news is the introduction of the top-shelf Brunello Di Montalcino Giovanni Neri. The wine—and the vineyard site—is named after Giacomo Neri’s dad, and fruit comes from a seven-hectare vineyard that was planted in 1973 by a farmer named “Tocci.” After many, many failed attempts, the Neri family was finally able to buy this gem in 2017, despite claims by the old farmer that “he would never sell.”
