Cameron Winery Pinot Gris Ramato, Dundee Hills 2024 750ml $29.50 special
Winery Note “Cameron Ramato takes its name from the Italian word Rame, which means copper. Our beautiful copper-hued wine is made in the tradition of north-eastern Italy, where Pinot grigio is macerated on the skins for 4-5 hours before pressing.”

Cameron Winery ‘Supernatural’ Rouge de Gris, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml $36 special
Winery Note “We start with Abbey Ridge Pinot Gris, which is farmed naturally without irrigation or noxious chemicals, throw the fruit into clay amphorae and allow it to do its thing naturally with wild ambient yeast. After fermentation is complete, we tighten down the amphorae lids and let it macerate for 6-7 weeks, then age the wine in neutral natural barrique for 18 months before bottling. And voila, we have Cameron Supernatural, a light red wine asking to be chilled and consumed au natural in the warm summer months!”

California
Sentium Sauvignon Blanc, Mendocino (By Continuum) 2023 750ml $79 special, 10 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points “I loved the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, a vibrant white offering ample Meyer lemon, honeyed flowers, and crushed stone-driven aromatics, as well as a crisp, clean sense of reduction. Medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, and elegant, it might be my favorite of the lineup. I love it today, yet it should have at least a decade of longevity, if not more.”
Continuum Proprietary Red, Oakville, Napa Valley 2021 750ml $335 special, 6 bottles in stock now
Joe Czerwinski-Wine Advocate 99 points “Continuum’s 2019 Proprietary Red is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot, all from the estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Aged in two-thirds new French oak, with the balance in second or third-use barrels and a single concrete amphora, it’s remarkably dark in hue, a deep, saturated purple in the glass. On the nose, it’s floral and herbal yet fruit-driven, with violets, sage and bay leaf adding nuance to black cherries, while the palate is full-bodied, plush and silky. There’s an enticing yin-yang to the interplay between high-toned herbals and bass notes of dark chocolate in this dense, concentrated effort that finishes lush and long. It’s a magnificent wine that should drink well for at least two decades. Drink: 2025-2045.”

Andre Clouet Silver Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature, Champagne NV 750ml $45 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 92+ points “[Reviewed Apr 2021] Clouet’s NV Silver Brut Nature Grand Cru is a pure Bouzy Pinot Noir that was disgorged without any dosage. This disgorgement displays a medium intense golden color and a complex and refined bouquet of ripe and pureed apples and discreet chalky as well as brioche aromas. The palate is elegant, straight and fresh, very pure and salty on the finish. This is a challenging Brut Nature that needs to be aged for two or three years to gain complexity and finesse and to smooth its current edges. The finish is mineral, limestone and salty but also a bit drying at this moment.”
Andre Clouet ‘The V6 Experience’ Brut NV 750ml $56 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93+ points “Aged for six years on the second lees, the yellow-golden NV Brut The V6 Experience is a Bouzy Pinot Noir that displays great purity and intensity but also reduction on the mineral-scented nose. This is deep and complex, but it needs all our patience and perhaps even a decanter or at least a big glass and lots of aeration. The palate is rich and powerful, firmly structured, very tight and still astringent on the finish, but there is so much finesse paired with power, concentration and fruit, which give the V6 a promising future. The wine just starts a bit slowly (like a rocket, which is pictured on the label), but it will most probably go very steep in a couple of years. I have ever had this cuvée before, so I can only guess, though.”

Bérêche et Fils Ambonnay Grand Cru Millésime 2019 750ml $199 special, 3 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94 points “The 2019 Extra-Brut Ambonnay Grand Cru, 100% Pinot Noir, is creamy, ample and quite seductive. Dried red cherry fruit, dried flowers, tobacco, cinnamon and subtle earthy notes are all laced together. This is an especially open-knit, soft Champagne for Ambonnay.”
Bérêche et Fils Cramant Grand Cru 2019 750ml $199 special, 3 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 95+ points “The 2019 Extra-Brut Cramant Grand Cru is a heady, explosive wine. Lemon confit, chamomile, slate and crushed rocks stain the palate. The 2019 was picked at 12.1% alcohol, dangerously high for Champagne because the wines can gain 1.5% alcohol in fermentation, where natural yeasts stop working. This is essentially white wine with bubbles. It is compelling juice by any measure. The 2019 was bottled with very low pressure and finished with no dosage.”
Bérêche et Fils Le Cran Premier Cru Brut Nature Millésime 2017 750ml $169 special, 3 bottles in stock now
Bérêche et Fils Le Cran Premier Cru Brut Nature Millésime 2017 1.5L $399 special, 1 magnum in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 93 points “The 2017 Extra-Brut Le Cran is a bit soft in this release. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers and spice open first, followed by tropical overtones and a kiss of reduction. Overall, this is a fine effort in a very challenging vintage.”
Bérêche et Fils Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru 2019 750ml $199 special, 1 bottle in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 96 points “The 2019 Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru is another fabulous wine in this range from Bérêche et Fils. This north-facing site handled the intense heat of the year especially well. Chalk, licorice, mint, white pepper, cranberry and dried flowers all run through this potent, driving offering. In 2019, the Mailly-Champagne is very clearly a standout. Impressive, and that is an understatement.”
France – Rosé
Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rose, Provence 2024 750ml $29.50 special, 35 bottles in stock now
Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rose, Provence 2024 1.5L $64.50 special, 3 magnums in stock now
Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rose, Provence 2024 3L $128 special, 3 double-magnums in stock now
Importer Note “No estate expresses the salt-kissed limestone-driven terroir of the idyllic Provençal seaside village of Cassis like Domaine du Bagnol, and the current generation, Sébastien Genovesi, crafts a rosé of scintillating energy, chiseled calcareous musculature, and gleaming red fruits. Comprising 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, and 20% Mourvèdre, Bagnol’s Cassis Rosé is pressed directly and rapidly (in under two hours) to extract as little color as possible, and the bottled wine (certified organic) contains only 20 milligrams per liter of total sulfur—a factor which contributes to its gorgeous purity of texture and intense evocation of limestone soil.”
Lucien Crochet Sancerre Pinot Rosé, Loire 2024 750ml $34.50 special, 24 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “Made exclusively of Pinot Noir harvested from several parcels, a mix of Oxfordian ‘caillottes’ and Kimmeridgian ‘marne’. This Rosé is made using the direct press method with the whole berries entering the pressoir. The musts ferment in temperature-controlled cuves (85%) as well as a small percentage in older barrels (15%). The fermentation occurs over three weeks. The wines is bottled in the spring of the following year.”
Château Pradeaux Rosé, Côtes de Provence 2024 750ml $22.50 special, 35 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “Made from 45% Cinsault and 40% Mourvedre, with the balance split among Grenache and Carignan, the pale-iron-colored Côtes de Provence Rose is closer to Bandol-level complexity and concentration than we have yet seen from this wine—a result of the 2017 vintage’s atypical concentration. A core of sappy, glycerol red-cherry fruit anchors a firm, punchy minerality, and the finish is remarkably persistent. The vineyards that comprise this wine were, in fact, classified as Bandol AOC as recently as 2012, and this wine clearly distinguishes itself from among the vast ocean of Côtes de Provence rose by virtue of its terroir’s unique pedigree.”

Château Pradeaux Bandol Rosé, Provence 2024 750ml $31.90 special, 24 bottles in stock now
Château Pradeaux Bandol Rosé, Provence 2024 1.5L $69 special, 3 magnums in stock now
Importer Note “The Bandol Rosé from Pradeaux is perhaps the most serious wine in this category. Robust, rich, and complex with an ability to age gracefully, this wine is based on Cinsault (50%) and Mourvèdre (50%), taking its slight orange tint from the latter cépage. The younger vines of the domaine (average age: 25 years) are utilized to produce a rare rosé with staying power and exceptional complexity. The Rosé is vinified by a direct pressing for 24 hours followed by fermentation in cement tanks at a controlled temperature of 18 degrees Celsius for about 15 days; the malo-lactic fermentation is blocked and the wine is usually bottled in mid-April of the following year.”
Château Pradeaux ‘Vesprée’ Rosé, Vin de France 2023 750ml $41.90 special, 12 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “In homage to Bandol’s noblest cepage, ‘Vesprée’—a somewhat untranslatable French term referring to the deep pinkish hue of a clear sky as day fades to night—is 100% Mourvèdre. Etienne aged half of it in a single six-hectoliter oak cask, and the other half in a concrete egg—an eye-grabbing vessel that promotes aeration, stabilizes temperature naturally, and allows the wine inside to flow continuously and smoothly. It was bottled in mid-September of 2017—after nearly a full year of élevage, and over six months later than the regular bottling—and it will finally reach our shores the last week of January. ‘Vesprée’ presents a full, swaggering nose of quince paste, white pepper, and coarse-ground Indian spices, and the big, richly textured palate possesses a structural tension that heavily underlines its potential for aging—though it is fresh, tense, and very delicious right now. It is exceedingly difficult to find rosé of this caliber and character, even from Bandol—and, in a twist of irony, this wine which is so purely and deeply Bandol to its very core was denied appellation status on three separate occasions, and is thus labeled a ‘Vin de France.'”
Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Rosé, Loire 2023 750ml $19 special, 24 bottles in stock now
VOS Selections Importer Note “J-M Raffault’s Chinon Rosé is considered the finest of the Loire Valley. It is made from 100% certified organic Cabernet Franc grapes planted on alluvial sand and gravel soils of the former Loire river bed. Raffault picks the fruit dedicated to the Rosé at the start of his harvest period, when it typically has attained one degree less in sugar than that of the Chinon Les Galuches, which is picked next…The color is light and bright cherry-red (…the color of the 2023 was more intense…), the exact shade Rodolphe aimed for. Aromas and flavors of red currants, raspberry and pomegranate, citrus and cherry fruit emanate from the glass. The finish is long, fresh and succulent.”

France – Loire & Rhone
Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Les Galuches, Loire 2023 750ml $21.90 special, 36 bottles in stock now
VOS Selections Importer Note “The Les Galuches vineyard is an ancient river bed of the Loire; the name being derived from the large presence of gravel. According to the records from the era, vines were already well established in this sector by the 1830s. The Cabernet Franc ripens very well in the domaine’s 10 hectare holding of this sand and gravel vineyard. Les Galuches is always among the first sites to be picked because the soil warms up quickly and drains very well. The wine rests for 6 months in 500 litre double-barriques. Always very aromatic, the Les Galuches bottling is noted for its bouquet of violets, followed by lush and supple dark berry/cherry fruit. Les Galuches vineyard has been organically farmed since 2016.”

Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, Rhone 2022 750ml $145 special, 6 bottles in stock now
Yohan Castaing-Wine Advocate 94+ points “Entirely crafted from Marsanne planted on granite soils facing southwest, the 2022 Hermitage Blanc is one of the most imposing white wines of the year. Unfurling from the glass with notes of flowers, pear, spices, lemon oil and a deft touch of youthful reduction, it’s full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a hugely concentrated, deep core of fruit framed by racy acids, granite dry extracts and a long, flinty, slightly smoky finish. This wine will require patience and should be decanted before serving. Only three barrels were produced.”

Emmanuel Darnaud Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes, Rhone 2022 750ml $29 special, 36 bottles in stock now
Nicolas Greinacher-Vinous 90 points “The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes starts with red cherry, red plum, spicy aspects and a touch of graphite on the aromatic profile. Touching the palate with solid flavor concentration, the 2022 is built around fine-grained tannins and checks out with a persistent cadence on the savory finish.”

Emmanuel Darnaud Hermitage, Rhone 2021 750ml $145 special, 6 bottles in stock now
Nicolas Greinacher-Vinous 92 points “The inaugural 2021 Hermitage is a terrific result from this challenging vintage. Darnaud owns two tiny parcels, one in Les Greffieux and one in Les Bessards, from which the grapes are sourced. Checking in at 13.46% alcohol, the fully destemmed 2021 wafts up with fragrant orange rind, raspberry, cranberry, discrete cedar and leafy elements. Medium- to full-bodied and concentrated, it is neatly framed by polished tannins and ends with persistence on the elegant finish.”

Italy – Sicily
Feudo Montoni ‘Vrucara’ Nero d’Avola Sicilia IGT 2019 750ml $69 special, 6 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 93+ points “Dark depths of crushed plums, black cherries, balsam herbs and dark chocolate form a beguiling display as the 2019 Nero d’Avola Vrucara smolders up from the glass. This is pure elegance, silky and textural, yet full of youthful tension, with tart wild berries and zesty citrus colliding under an air of inner rose. The 2019 is structured with sweet tannins and is dramatically extended, showing hints of brown spice, mocha and clove that linger on and on and on. This is a powerful rendition of Vrucara.”
Spain – Priorat
Clos i Terrasses Clos Erasmus ‘Laurel’, Priorat DOCa 2022 750ml $74.50 special, 18 bottles in stock now
Luis Gutiérrez-Wine Advocate 95 points “The 2022 Laurel has the grapes from the younger vines but still not the ones from Manyetes that will contribute to this wine in 2023 for the first time. This is quite aromatic, young tender and peachy, attractive. She finds this to be a classical vintage, balanced and ripe without excess, and the tannins are polished and elegant. In 2022, they used a little less Cabernet, so the wine is mostly Garnacha, with almost 20% Syrah and perhaps 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. It matured mostly in concrete, oak vats and some 30 barrels, but some 20% of the volume matured in amphorae. She’s not crazy about amphorae; she finds that they close the wines. It’s medium-bodied, has a fine texture and feels elegant and light with a lot of finesse. She doesn’t want too long macerations with the grapes from the younger vines, but it has clout. It comes in at 15% alcohol, has very fine tannins and comes through as balanced and civilized, quite approachable already with mellow acidity. She’s very careful that the tannins don’t have too much astringency. 23,000 bottles were filled in May 2024. Tasted 10 months after bottling, the wine is very drinkable. This is a young wine that is ever changing, with the new vines, and it will change even more in the coming years.”

Portugal – Port
Kopke Colheita White Port 2002 750ml $69 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Kopke White Colheita 2002 shows a straw yellow colour, and an intense and rich bouquet, with predominant aromas of dried fruit and light notes of exotic fruit wrapped in delicate hints of honey. On the palate it is fresh and intense, with the flavours of ageing in wood, such as spice, perfectly combined with the sweet notes of fruit in syrup. It unfolds into a long and enduring finish. Enjoy it with an almond, lemon and poppy seed cake, or milk and hazelnut chocolate nocciolato with basil ice cream. Wonderful just on its own, after a meal. Best served at a temperature between 8 and 10 degrees.”

Kopke Colheita (Tawny) Port 1975 750ml $149 special, 1 bottle in stock now
Decanter 96 points “A legion of complexity encapsulating glorious rich fruitcake, seaweed and bonfire smoke; sweet and luscious with an engaging finish that goes on forever. Super!”
This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Kopke Colheita (Tawny) Port 2008 750ml $49 special, 18 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Golden-brown colour, with reddish hues. Intense and rich on the nose, with aromas of syrup fruit well-matched with notes of spice and dried fruit. On the palate it is delicate, its sweetness perfectly matching its tannins and acidity, making it a balanced wine. A long and appealing finish. Served chilled, it reveals all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts made with caramel, dried fruit and spice, such as caramel fondant with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brulée and medium-strength cheeses. Best served at a temperature between 12 and 14°C.”

Roederer:
Beauty & Class from California and Champagne
House Roederer is widely considered one of the greatest of the Grand Marque Champagne producers. Their name is synonymous with quality and sustainability. Converting their estate vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming practices and high-density plantings, which all help lower yields and improve quality, these are meticulously farmed plots that are each vinified separately for precision blending. Favoring Chardonnay, the resulting wines are among the most age-worthy and elegant on the market.
Roederer’s Cristal is one most sought-after bottlings in Champagne—a tête du cuvée that always lives up to the (enthusiastic) hype. Cristal Vinothèque—a late released bottling—represents the pinnacle of Champagne, a true insider’s must-have.
Looking for something a bit more local? In the 1970’s, the house founded their eponymous estate in the Anderson Valley of California. One of the coolest (and coldest) appellations in California, it is largely considered the capital for sparkling wine in the state, combining the quintessential Californian ripeness with Burgundian elegance.
In Stock Now:
Roederer Estate Brut, Anderson Valley NV 750ml $26 special, 25 bottles in stock now
Wine Spectator 93 points “Dynamic yet sleekly elegant, with rich strawberry and apple flavors that are accented by spiced cinnamon and yeast roll as this dances toward the vibrant finish.”
Roederer Estate L’Ermitage Brut, Anderson Valley 2019 750ml $74.50 special, 15 bottles in stock now
Wine Enthusiast 100 points “If sunshine could be bottled it would be this. Aromas of fresh succulent stone fruit, a hint of yeast, citrus blossoms and notes of quince on the nose. The mousse is creamy and light with baked red apples, blood orange zest, white grapefruit, sticky caramel and layered salinity with a mouthwatering finish. It will bring a smile to your lips.”
Louis Roederer Collection 245 Brut, Champagne NV 750ml $64.50 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Kristaps Karklins-Wine Advocate 92 points “Based on the 2020 vintage, Louis Roederer’s NV Brut Collection 245 is stylistically somewhat comparable to the two previous editions, which were based on the 2018 and 2019 vintages. Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon explains that the personality of the wine will change depending on the base year. By identifying the wine with a number, they do not intend to produce the same profile year in and year out, but rather, they will embrace the singularity of each vintage, accepting the different personalities of the base year. It is complemented by a perpetual reserve initiated in 2012, which is stored in large tanks without lees; the reserve provides balance to the warm years like this, as the perpetual component did not go through malolactic fermentation. While a considerable portion of the fruit comes from Louis Roederer’s own estates, for this bottling, the blend incorporates purchased fruit as well, particularly Pinot Meunier, which they do not own. Including approximately 43% Chardonnay, the new Brut Collection offers notes of pear, peach and candied orange zest. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, textural and fleshy, laden with vibrant acidity and concluding with a nicely defined, delicately saline finish, even with 7.5 grams per liter dosage.”
Louis Roederer Cristal Millésime Brut, Champagne 2015 750ml $379 special, 7 bottles in stock now
The Wine Independent 98 points “The 2015 Cristal is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. No malo-lactic was employed and 25% wine was aged in oak. The dosage is 7 grams per liter. An exquisitely delicate yet complex perfume of clover honey freshly shaved ginger marzipan and jasmine slowly emerges from the nose giving way to a core of pear tart persimmons and apple butter. The palate is an exercise in finesse featuring very fine bubbles and fantastic intensity with a myriad of spice and floral nuances finishing with impressive persistence and jaw-dropping poise. This is a style for those that embrace purity soft-spoken expression and impeccable crafting. It won’t disappoint those who love Champagne in its initial youthful perfume flushes yet will undoubtedly reward the patient with a richer toastier more obvious and opulent style with 5-10 years+ of cellaring.”
Louis Roederer Cristal Millésime Brut, Champagne 2016 750ml $359 special, 2 bottles in stock now
Owen Bargreen 97 points “A dazzling new edition of this wine, the 2016 Louis Roederer ‘Cristal’ Champagne is a world-class combination of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay. This edition of ‘Cristal’ was given 7G/L dosage. Chalky minerals mark the nose alongside white grapefruit blossom, marzipan, star jasmine and suggestions of kumquat zest that all meld in the glass. The palate is filled with crushed seashells and wet salty stones that combine with rich melon, lemon rind and tangerine zest flavors that combine with suggestions of pastry crust on the palate. Big, round and generous, this exudes class in terms of length, tension and flavor density. A gorgeous wine in its heady youth, enjoy over the next twenty plus years to come.”
Louis Roederer Cristal Vinotheque Edition Brut Millésime, Champagne 1999 750ml $1,245 special, only 1 bottle in stock now
James Suckling 98 points “The nose has such beautiful, autolysis character with brown-mushroom and toasted-almond aromas. The nose has still-fresh lemons and oyster shell. Very smooth, pastry-like texture on the palate with even layers and a core of fresh lemons and peaches. The striking thing here is the balance and melted-together complexity. In a very great place. This spent seven years sur latte, seven sur pointe and was disgorged in 2014. Drink now.”

Drink now.”

Cristom:
Top Tier Eola-Amity Wines Arriving Friday
Cristom is one of the hallowed names in Oregon. Since their inception in 1993, they’ve crafted reference point wines from their beautiful estate vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills. Much of the credit for their success goes to their vineyards—located just below Bethel Heights and Temperance Hill, truly Cristom is an American Grand Cru.
The rest of the credit goes to Steve Doerner, their winemaker since the beginning, who made a name for Calera in the ’80s before moving to Oregon and becoming a local legend. These are wines that have powerful personalities allied to a Burgundian sense of proportion and savor. Doerner loves to use a lot of whole clusters in fermentations and so the wines always have a grip and earthiness that grounds their deep fruit and rich textures.
These stunning new releases arrive Friday. Don’t wait!
Arriving Friday, June 13th:
Cristom Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2022 750ml $39 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 93 points “The 2022 ‘Eola-Amity Hills’ Chardonnay is a beautiful wine that was stored for 11 months in oak and then five months in stainless steel before bottling. The wine shows beautiful freshness and tension with a soft mouthfeel. Loads of Meyer lemon and orchard fruits combine with shades of salted green melon on the palate.”
Cristom Louise Vineyard Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2021 750ml $54.50 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 95 points “The exceedingly good 2021 Cristom Vineyards ‘Louise Vineyard’ Chardonnay is a stunning effort from this warm vintage in the Willamette Valley. Chardonnay was planted in the lower part of this site which was first planted back in 1993. It is nicely concentrated but also very nicely poised. Kumquat rind, Japanese pear and honeydew melon flavors combine with shades of hazelnut topped shortbread on the palate. Only 100 cases made of this brilliant Chardonnay.”
Cristom Royer Vineyard Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2021 750ml $54.50 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 95 points “The ‘Royer Vineyard’ is located southwest edge of the Eola Hills. This 15 acre site is planted to Riesling and Chardonnay. This 2021 Chardonnay is a deep and concentrated wine that is irresistible in its youth. Heady, and laden with its core of starfruit, Pink Lady apple and baking spice and buttered French bread flavors, it is a stellar wine to consume right now and over the next ten plus years.”
Cristom Louise Vineyard Viognier, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml $29 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 93 points “The 2023 ‘Louise Vineyard’ was sourced from this location set on basalt soils. Stored in all neural oak barrels, this delivers honeysuckle and juicy peach aromatics that combine with salty soils and shades of ginger on the nose. The palate is fresh and lithe with a smooth texture and good sense of length. Nervy and intense, enjoy this beautiful wine now and over the next eight plus years.”
Cristom Seven Springs Vineyard Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2021 750ml $54.50 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Jeb Dunnuck 95 points “The 2021 Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard is highly expressive and complete with layers of pure fruit and mineral-tinged aromas, noted by gunflint, fresh tangerine, well-managed oak spice, and fresh pear. Medium to full-bodied, with great energy, it’s lush up front but has a great tension-driven core, with a touch of pithy texture and a bit of yellow floral tone on the finish. It’s going to drink well over the next 8-10 years.”
Cristom ‘Mt. Jefferson Cuvee’ Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml $41.90 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
James Suckling 95 points “Very firm, focused and concentrated, showing pure black cherries and blackcurrants on a lively frame of nervy acidity and moderate tannins. Mouthwatering acidity, with fruit expanding on the palate and spices like cloves and cinnamon developing. Drink now or hold.”
Cristom Louise Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2022 750ml $79 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 95 points “The 2022 ‘Louise’ was given 58% whole cluster fermentation. The site is usually picked a touch on the earlier side to harness the tannins of the Pinot Noir at this eastern-aspect location. Black florals and seaweed combine with shades of black licorice on the nose. The palate is plush and refined with serious weight and tension. Rich and refined, with serious texture and mouth-watering acidity, this really needs another year of bottle age to come together–but you can see the potential!”
Cristom Paul Gerrie Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2022 750ml $79 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Owen Bargreen 96 points “A total knockout wine the 2022 Cristom ‘Paul Gerrie Vineyard’ Pinot Noir was given 50% whole cluster fermentation and was stored in only 17% new French oak before bottling. This wine comes from the northern end at the Cristom Estate that was fist planted back in 2014. The nose is alluring with beautiful violets, menthol, wild blackberry and suggestions of cardamom. The palate is plush and soft with a refiled texture. Strangely this powerful wine is the most evolved of the single vineyards. A total stunner, enjoy over the next twenty years.”

Arriving in July:
Paolo Scavino’s Knockout 2021s
In Barolo, an estate offering both high quality and affordable pricing is a rarity. One such estate is Paolo Scavino. With access to some of Barolo’s most prized vineyards and a winemaking team that embraces the best of both modern and traditional techniques, the Scavino wines are arguably the smartest buys in Barolo today. Rich and powerful in their youth, the wines are built to age. Their true greatness develops after time in the cellar – something that can’t be said about all of Scavino’s modernist peers.
The Wine Advocate describes the 2021 vintage in Barolo as “extraordinary,” ranking it as on par with the notable 2016 vintage. If you’ve been waiting for a top vintage to invest, now is the time. No need to take our word for it:
“Scavino fans will find a lot to get excited about in these new releases… the Barolos are among the finest in Piedmont. Perhaps just as importantly, even after all these years, Scavino remains a very relevant winery in Piedmont.” -Antonio Galloni, Vinous, writing on these releases
Arriving in July:
Paolo Scavino Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $49 pre-arrival special, 36 bottles available
James Suckling 93 points “Restrained and compact nose with vibrant violets and dried cherries, refreshed by pomegranate and oak bark. Full-bodied on the palate with a sold backbone of tannins that turn dusty and drier on the finish. Crisp acidity and an austere aftertaste. Try from 2027.”

Paolo Scavino Bussia Vigna Fantini, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $85 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
James Suckling 98 points “A super-fresh and elegant Barolo with leafy lightness, red currants, watermelon, licorice and a touch of sweet violets on the nose. Slight sweetness on the palate, with a lot of minty flavors, a full body, fresh acidity and quite firm yet velvety tannins. Great overall harmony, with a savory aftertaste and a lavish finish.”

Paolo Scavino Bricco Ambrogio, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $69 pre-arrival special, 18 bottles available
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 95 points “The 2021 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is classy and polished to the core. This wine has come such a long way since its debut. Enrico Scavino really believed in this site when he purchased it a little more than 20 years ago. The 2021 is a fine testament to his vision. Lavender, sage, menthol and licorice lead into a core of dark-toned fruit in a Barolo that is deep yet also light on its feet. This is impeccably done, not to mention very tasty. (Drink between 2028-2041).”

Paolo Scavino Bric dël Fiasc, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $115 pre-arrival special, 5 bottles available
Decanter 97 points “With holdings in Fiasco since 1910, the Scavino family considers this wine their flagbearer. First produced separately in 1978, it is crafted from three southwest-facing plots on a mix of sandstone and limestone. A profound, mineral-laden nose brings in supporting accents of pepper and raspberry. Elegant in weight yet commanding in delivery, enveloping tannins suggest some richness with an innate sense of balance prevailing. Coming together admirably, this is captivating and energetic through to the crushed stone and iron finish. (Drink between 2028-2043).”

Paolo Scavino Monvigliero, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $89 pre-arrival special, 5 bottles available
James Suckling 96 points “This has aromas of tar, violets, cherries, orange rind and a touch of aniseed. Medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannin structure that seems to recede toward the finish. The fruit is juicy, tender, pretty and refined. It should be more evident once the tannins mellow out. Exciting. Better from 2030.”

Paolo Scavino Prapò, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $85 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 96 points “The 2021 Barolo Prapò is fabulous. It offers up an exotic mix of dark fruit, lavender, graphite, plum and scorched earth, with firm, muscular Serralunga tannins to back it all up. Readers will have to be patient with the 2021. It’s a superb wine in the making, but very much a Serralunga Barolo that needs time to blossom. (Drink between 2028-2041).”

Paolo Scavino Ravera, Barolo DOCG 2021 750ml $85 pre-arrival special, 12 bottles available
Audrey Frick-Jeb Dunnuck 96 points “The 2021 Barolo Ravera has a jeweled ruby hue and is gorgeous and pure on the nose, with aromas of raspberry liqueur, sweet tea leaf, pressed flowers, and fresh sage. It’s elegant and refined on the palate, with a seamless and even feel, silky, ripe tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long, graceful finish. It’s a fabulous wine to taste now but offers a wide window for enjoyment over the coming 20 or so years. (Drink between 2025-2045).”

Paolo Scavino Rocche dell’Annunziata Riserva, Barolo DOCG 2019 750ml $219 pre-arrival special, 6 bottles available
Decanter 97 points “The first vineyard the Scavino family purchased outside their village of Castiglione Falletto, Rocche dell’Annunziata has been produced as a Riserva since 1990 – however only in superior vintages. The 2019 is simply gorgeous, ringing out with winter mint, dried lavender and cinnamon. Distinct and precise, the perfumed palate follows with a sweetness of strawberry gracefully enfolded in silky tannins. Tangy minerals and citrussy acidity amplify lightness and brightness. Don’t be fooled though – this has plenty of substance and structure to sustain it. (Drink between 2027-2043).”
