De Venoge
De Venoge is an old-school Champagne House that’s relatively unknown in the United States, a fact that means even their finest and rarest wines continue to be undervalued relative to their peers. De Venoge was established in Champagne in the first part of the 19th century by Swiss born Henri-Marc de Venoge and his son Joseph.
Today, the House has a strong following in Europe for good reason—they source from some of the best vineyards in Champagne and produce prestige cuvées of immense quality, built on long lees aging. This is no better exemplified than their prestige cuvee. Named after Louis the 15th, who first authorized the bottling of Champagne, it is sourced exclusively from some of the most famour Grand Cru villages such as Bouzy, Avize, and Le Mesnil.
De Venoge prestige cuvée is an outstanding wine for lovers of truly mature Champagne in all its glory, offering a rich, creamy texture from the extended lees aging married to surprisingly fresh, mineral personalities. There’s a reason this House has such a following overseas: they produce stunning aged wines that are ready to go, so consumers can enjoy the magic on release. Now’s your chance to try them for yourself!

De Venoge Louis XV de Venoge Brut Millesime, Champagne 2006 750ml Was $199, Now $189 special, 16 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 96 points “The assemblage of the 2006 Louis XV Brut Millésimé is about the same as the 1995 and 1996—composed of 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, all from grand cru villages. The only difference is that the Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (10% of the assemblage) spent 12 months in oak barrels. Disgorged in January 2017 (dosage: six grams per liter), the 2006 has a golden color and opens with a deep, ripe, elegant and vinous bouquet with toasty and chalky lemon and fresh white fruit flavors. On the palate, this is an intense, round, fresh and complex Louis XV with great purity and finesse. The wine opens on the palate like a soufflé, coating the whole palate without any pressure or weight—gorgeous! This is a delicate and fresh yet well-structured and persistent Louis XV whose intense and long but weightless finish reveals lovely, almost juicy fruit concentration with perfectly integrated freshness and lasting minerality that seems to give additional structure. The 2006 shows a lot of Chardonnay features right now and drinks perfectly today; however, it can be kept under perfect conditions for decades…”

De Venoge Louis XV de Venoge Brut Millesime, Champagne 2008 750ml Was $249, Now $219 special, 28 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 95 points “This is really punchy and broad-shouldered with muscular structure and citrusy undertones. Full body. Lightly tannic and a fresh and vivid finish. This is the first vintage without malolactic fermentation ever. One for the cellar. Better in 2022.”

De Venoge Louis XV de Venoge Extra Brut Rose Millésime, Champagne 2002 750ml Was $189, Now $159 special, 7 bottles in stock now
Wine Spectator 93 points “Harmonious, with fine intensity, offering rich notes of spice cake, toasted almond, dried cherry, grilled plum and smoky mineral. Almost velvety in texture, with juicy acidity that brings you back for another sip. Delicious. Drink now through 2022. 54 cases made.”

Bow & Arrow ‘Fool’s Gold’, Willamette Valley 2023 750ml $24 special, 23 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “50% Chardonnay/50% Sauvignon Blanc. After experimenting in 2019 with making a Cheverny Blanc style Chard/Sauv Blanc blend and having it exceed all expectations I am happy (relieved?!) to announce I went all in and made much more”
Cameron Winery Giuliano White, Dundee Hills 2024 750ml $36 special, 26 bottles in stock now
Varieties: Auxerrois, Friuliano, Moscato, Pinot blanc, Pinot grigio, Ribolla Gialla
Winery Note “Giuliano is our field blend of 6 Italian varieties from Clos Electrique and Abbey Ridge. The rich palate is loaded with an awesome texture and notes of lemon curd, grapefruit and peaches. This is a nuanced, flavorful and food-friendly white. On the nose and palate, you’ll notice notes of pear, citrus, almond, and kaffir lime with a hint of flintiness and balanced acidity. Drink it with just about anything including sushi, grilled vegetables, chicken, and all sorts of seafood dishes. Only two barrels made, so quite limited.”

Championship Bottle ‘Gravity’s Pull’ Dion Vineyard Chardonnay, Chehelem Mountains 2022 750ml $33 special, 8 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Chardonnay may prove to be the signature grape of the Willamette Valley. Minerally, bright, and electric, this wine represents a fully realized vision of what we look for in the grape-an homage to Burgundy and Friuli by way of Oregon.”

The Eyrie Vineyards Melon de Bourgogne, Dundee Hills 2018 750ml $41.90 special, 10 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 92 points “Straw tinge. Aromas of apricots, cloves, lemon curd and chamomile. Concentrated and textured, almost oily, with a medium body and caressing layers. Gently spicy. Kept in neutral oak for two years before bottling. From organically grown grapes. 85 cases produced. Drink now or hold.”

Hundred Suns ‘Old Eight Cut’ Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2024 750ml $31.90 special, 17 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “This 2023 bottling is comprised of three dry-farmed vineyards planted in volcanic soils and hand-harvested on Sept. 9th, 10th & 17th. The clusters were gently pressed and the juice sent tank to begin their wild yeast fermentation. Once initiated, the wines were moved to French and Austrian oak to finish primary and malolactic fermentation. Bottled without filtration after 11 months.”
Kelley Fox Wines Stater Vineyard Pinot Blanc, Dundee Hills 2023 750ml $36 special, 8 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 93 points “The 2023 Pinot Blanc Stater Vineyard has layered aromas of apricot, cereal milk, roasted almonds and flint. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated tree fruit flavors made more intense by its textural grip. Its power is foiled by refreshing acidity, and it has a very long, honeyed finish. I would love to drink this with 3-5 years of bottle age. 108 cases were made.”
This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Ovum ‘Old Love’ White Blend, Oregon 2023 750ml $19 special, 8 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “OLD LOVE is produced the same way as Big Salt – with a focus on developing a silky texture. The aromas are more layered and complex, and the texture is richer while remaining crisp at the same time. OLD LOVE is a dry, white blend that dreams of capturing the summer sun in a bottle of wine. Aromas of fresh cut blood orange, salty lemon and aloe vera typify this racy, texturally rich white wine. Guided by mother nature, we combine the Big Salt process, with a proprietary aging process to elevate the terroir that each of our five vineyards bring us (citrus, salinity, bright acidity, florality, ripe apricot).”
This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
Patricia Green Cellars Sauvignon Blanc, Ribbon Ridge 2024 750ml $24 special, 21 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “The Estate Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a denser, richer more stately version of Sauvignon Blanc than one would generally find in the universe of this grape. The 2024 version has a unique tension to it between its tropical lime-infused papaya notes and the crystalline minerality that is on display at a level we have never experienced before. As is always the case, it is at once very high in acidity but rich in texture which adds to the complexity of the fruit/minerality interplay in the wine and makes the wine profound even at a young age. While this wine is capable of aging (a 2019 consumed early in 2025 was in fabulous condition) we believe it is best served in its relative youth to capture these fresh and delicious flavors.”

Ponzi Vineyards Chardonnay, Laurelwood District 2021 750ml $31.90 special, 21 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 90 points “The 2021 Chardonnay Laurelwood District has alluring aromas of white peach, quince, beeswax and cracked almonds. The light-bodied palate has a silky texture, vibrant acidity framing its saline-laced fruit and a long, nuanced finish.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Peter William Vineyard Semillon, Rogue Valley 2023 750ml $21.90 special, 23 bottles in stock now

Tan Fruit ‘Extra Tan’ Dupee Vineyard Chardonnay, McMinnville 2023 750ml $59 special, 32 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 96 points “Another white made with partially botrytized grapes. Firmly structured, yet seamlessly integrated, this needs time to fully reveal its layers. Lush and complex, yet delicately subtle and precise at the same time, offering aromas of passion fruit and pink guava, layered with hints of seashells and white berries, while a flinty edge adds depth. The botrytis influence is clean and subtle, contributing a refined touch. White-tea nuances provide an elegant layer and the palate shows balance between tense chalkiness and silky smoothness. Drink or hold.”
This is the only listing in the USA today!
Tan Fruit ‘Tank Fruit’ Chardonnay, Eola-Amity Hills 2023 750ml $39 special, 34 bottles in stock now
James Suckling 96 points “A highly expressive and bright expression, showing dried citrus, spiced pears and a touch of white flowers. The palate is mouth-filling yet nervy, driven by crunchy acidity and a firm mineral core. Taut and focused, with energy and precision throughout. 100% Maresh Vineyard Dijon clone, planted in 1991. Drink or hold.”
This is the lowest listed price in the USA today!
Westrey Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley 2018 750ml $18 special, 13 bottles in stock now
Clive Pursehouse-Decanter 93 points “A showy and opulent Pinot Gris with six years of bottle age, this wine defies expectations of simplicity for the variety aromatics of ripe stone fruits and dried white flowers with a hint of clover honey. The palate shows richness, honeyed peach and nectarine flesh, and dried notes of tarragon and mint offer complexity and freshness, showing the real ageability of this stalwart Willamette Valley varietal.”

The palate is mouth-filling yet nervy, driven by crunchy acidity and a firm mineral core. Taut and focused, with energy and precision throughout. 100% Maresh Vineyard Dijon clone, planted in 1991. Drink or hold.”

Grape of the Week:
Piedmont’s Nebbiolo Beyond the Borders of Barolo & Barbaresco
What makes Nebbiolo such an incredible grape also seems to be the reason it is not more famous: its success is tied intimately to the land from which it comes. This captivating grape has been responsible for hundreds of thousands of highly praised wines for centuries.
Its robust structure and alcohol potential, coupled with a high acidity, seems at odds with its almost ethereal feel on the palate and its classic floral aroma. But only exploring it through the lens of Barolo and Barbaresco does a disservice to any true Italian wine aficionado. Explore outside the box with these exotic examples from Bramaterra, Gattinara, and Lessona.

Le Pianelle Bramaterra, Piedmont DOC 2016 750ml $48 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94-97 points “The 2016 Bramaterra is drop-dead gorgeous. Utterly captivating in its aromatics and inner sweetness, the 2016 is insanely beautiful. Sweet red cherry, candy, iron, graphite, rose petal and blood orange are some of the many notes that come alive with a bit of aeration. I tasted the 2016 from two core lots, separarely, and then in a hypothetical blend. It is a hugely promising wine.”
Nervi Conterno Gattinara DOCG, Piedmont 2021 750ml $95 special, 5 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 91 points “The 2021 Gattinara is brilliant and finely cut. In 2021, the Gattinara is a sinewy, tense wine with bright acids and finely sculpted fruit front and center. Sweet red berries, cedar, pipe tobacco and freshly cut owers all grace this expressive Gattinara from Conterno-Nervi. The ethereal finish is sublime.”

Proprieta Sperino Vigna Cova Riserva Lessona, Piedmont 2015 750ml $139 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 96 points “The 2015 Lessona Riserva Vigna Cova is one of the very best wines I have tasted from Proprietà Sperino. It embodies everything Lessona and Alto Piemonte can be. The aromatics alone are simply beguiling. But the 2015 has plenty of textural depth and body too. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2015 will take readers on a fabulous ride. Superb.”
