Goodfellow Family Cellars:
Obsessively Good & On Sale Now
Marcus Goodfellow and Megan Joy look more like farmers than two of the greatest winemakers in the country. Maybe it’s because they’re both. Although Goodfellow Family Cellars doesn’t have an estate vineyard, Megan and Marcus have amassed a deep understanding of their vines that only comes from spending time in the vineyards.
Their dedication is palpable in the resulting wines. The cuvées showcase their microscopic understanding of the potential in the Willamette Valley and their patient and thoughtful approach to winemaking. The minerality coaxed from the whites is jaw-dropping. The complexity and depth of the reds profound. The precision in the sparkling wines is only rivaled by Champagne.
Do we sound obsessed? Probably. They do take up quite a bit of space in our personal cellars, after all. But we know you’ll be smitten, too.
We love the wines for their coiled power and Burgundian structure. There’s unbelievable complexity and nuance even in their everyday wines. It’s why we turn to them for our own personal drinking. Whether you prefer red, white, rosé, or sparkling, whether you’re looking for a pizza wine, a special occasion treat, or a gift that could cellar for ten+ years, know that these are some of the finest wines being made in the USA. You will not be disappointed.
The cherry on top? No need to brace for triple-digits pricing. Unlike the best-known Valley in California, Oregon’s best-known Valley is still America’s best source for quality and value combined. Take home one of our favorites today.

Goodfellow Family Cellars Tsai Vineyard Blanc de Noir, Yamhill-Carlton NV 750ml Displayed Price: $54.50, that’s $51.78 at 5% off and $49.05 at 10% off, 24 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “So delicious. This wine was originally supposed to be a component of the Willamette Valley Extra-Brut, but from the earliest days in barrel it had an extraordinary energy and vibrancy. Raised in two 820L Acacia foudres it was, and still is, a joy to drink. Electric, vibrant, and sparkly (both having bubbles and in personality). The nose is sea air, pink florals and yellow roses, sweet tarts, apricot blossoms, and ruby red grapefruit. The palate is Rainier cherry skin and raspberry, so vibrant and fresh, and then a wonderful electric finish; must love acid, the balance here is very definitely sweet/tart/dry. 12.1% ABV, 1gram/liter dosage. Bottled April 2023, with 85 cases disgorged this past December.”

Goodfellow Family Cellars Whistling Ridge Vineyard Blanc de Gris, Ribbon Ridge NV 750ml Displayed Price: $47.50, that’s $45.13 at 5% off and $42.75 at 10% off, 23 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Like walking through an orchard blossoming out in the spring. Then mandarins and orange zest, nectarine and lime leaf, subtle and fine, with a hint of salt & fennel pollen. Kumquats in the palate, stony and dry (not austere), mineral, finishes with citrus skin. The impetus to make traditional method sparkling wines from Pinot Gris came from years of watching the quality of Pinot Gris that has consistently come out of the Whistling Ridge Vineyard, and specifically with tasting some of the older examples of our bottlings with extended barrel aging and with extended skin-contact. Brut Nature (no dose) but with a yeasty textural aspect that suggests otherwise. Delicious. 12.6% ABV. 77 cases produced, bottled April 2023 and disgorged this past December.”

The bottle disappears quickly. Perfect for sunny days watching the hummingbirds, grilling chicken, and sushi. 82% direct press from the blanc de noir program and 18% saignee from100% whole cluster ferments of Whistling Ridge and Durant. 12.3% abv and 266 cases produced.”

Winery Note “The Whistling Ridge Blanc is a field blend entirely of the vineyard. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir are interplanted up at the vineyard, picked together, pressed, and fermented together in neutral oak (15-25 year old barrique) and small stainless drums. This wine is always unique and delicious. The 2023 Whistling Ridge Blanc is lean, zippy, fresh and floral, with stoniness and lime zest, and opening to white spring flowers, but still with that core of bright citrus & stone…. electric lime-aid at its best. Varietals: Riesling 64%, Pinot Noir 20%, Pinot Blanc 12%, Gewurztraminer 4% Whistling Ridge Vineyard, Ribbon Ridge Ava, Willamette Valley. Planted In 1990, Dry Farmed, Marine Sedimentary Soils. Goodfellow Family Cellars Durant Vineyard Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 93+ points “The 2022 Pinot Noir Durant entices with a sweetly spiced bouquet of wild blueberries, sweet herbs and hints of cinnamon spice. This is juicy and round, with perfumed wild berry fruits elevated by blood orange as bright-toned inner florals resonate throughout. It leaves a tactile staining of minerality and gently grippy tannins, finishing with a tinge of sour citrus that lingers on.”
Goodfellow Family Cellars Whistling Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir, Ribbon Ridge 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $49, that’s $46.55 at 5% off and $44.10 at 10% off, 5 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 93 points “The 2021 Pinot Noir Whistling Ridge is spicy and savory in the glass, leading with a rich blend of steeped plums, cola and rose petals giving way to hints of clove. This is lifted and finessed with pretty red berries and suggestions of cocoa and inner florals, all guided by fresh acidity. The 2021 tapers off with medium length and a crunchy sensation, leaving just a tinge of fine tannin framing the experience beautifully. Of note, the Whistling Ridge took three hours to blossom, and it was worth the wait.”

Goodfellow Family Cellars ‘West Field’ Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $54.50, that’s $51.78 at 5% off and $49.05 at 10% off, 4 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 97 points “Also coming from Temperance Hill, the 2022 Pinot Noir West Field was raised in puncheons and pours a youthful red hue. It has a woodsy aromatic profile, with notes of pine, toasted spice, ripe, crystalline cherries, blood orange, and a sanguine lift on the nose. It reveals a good deal of depth and intensity on the palate, with a saturating, medium-bodied feel. It has a chiseled and dark mineral profile that lasts through the finish. Haunting and fantastic, this remarkable offering is going to be an impressive wine with great longevity. Drink 2025-2040.”

Goodfellow Family Cellars Heritage #17 Durant Vineyard Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $69, that’s $65.55 at 5% off and $62.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “Deeper red hues and spice on the nose, black cherry, boysenberry, violets, cardamom, balsam, enveloping and textural with juicy, lovely acidity, firm tannins on opening that integrate over several days as the weight and texture of the wine fills in. Aromatically, the high point seems to really arrive after being open for about 48 hours, and the seamless interplay between fruit, baking spice, loamy earth, and hints of kitchen herbs is dramatic and superlative. In the zone the nose here is absolutely intoxicating.”

Rosé(s) of the Day
Explore German Rosés!
Germany’s wine scene might best be known for its Riesling (or Blue Nun, depending upon who you ask…), but did you know they make incredible rosés from Pinot Noir? The grape is known as Spätburgunder in German, so it’s easy to overlook. We had two in-stock rosés from two of our favorite under-the-radar producers: Falkenstein in the Mosel and Von Winning in the Pfalz. They’re top class in their respective regions and make utterly delicious pinks.
