California Zinfandel Sale
Red Zinfandels are hearty reds stuffed full of spicy flavor and impactful, jammy fruit. The grape might as well be considered a Californian variety – it certainly boasts an impressive number of old and ancient vines. Plantings date back over 150 years, with some ancient vines still in production. Additional plantings began in earnest in the 1970s when an off-dry rosé style known as “blush” or “white Zinfandel” exploded in popularity.
We have those 1970s plantings to thank for why dry red Zins are so delicious yet still affordable. Dozens of heritage sites are still producing, preventing scarcity from inflating prices. Those roughly 50-year-old vines offer concentration and complexity not found in young vine plantings.
We offer 19 different takes from superstars in the field including Bedrock, Marietta, Ridge, and Turley. Browse top picks below and shop our sale on our webstore now.

Turley takes a Provencal approach to making Zinfandel rosé, resulting in a gulpable yet nuanced pink that’s far more serious than anything found in a jug.
Turley Wine Cellars Zinfandel Rosé, Napa Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $24, that’s $22.80 at 5% off and $21.60 at 10% off, 4 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “We select a few of our Zinfandel vines to pick early (at 19 brix) to make this vivid, dry rosé. Pale rose petals and fraise du bois with a touch of petrichor on the nose. The palate is high in acid, low in alcohol, well-structured and thoroughly refreshing. Fermented in stainless steel, then aged only in used French barriques. Though akin to Provençal rosés in the way it’s made, this wine is distinctly Californian. White Zinfandel has a good heart but a bad reputation; hopefully we can help change that.”
Arnot-Roberts Kirschenmann Vineyard Zinfandel, Mokelumne River 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 9 bottles in stock now
Winery Note “In the spring of 2012, our friends Tegan and Olivia Passalacqua purchased an incredible old vineyard east of Lodi in the tiny town of Victor, California named Kirschenmann. The site is located on an oxbow of the Mokelumne River, which over centuries has deposited loads of fine, sandy, granitic loam from erosion of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the East. The vineyard was planted in 1915 on its own roots and is primarily Zinfandel, with a little Carignane, Cinsault and Mondeuse Noir spread throughout the block. The old, twisted, dry-farmed vines are thriving under the watchful eye of Tegan, one of the foremost experts on old vines in California. Tegan also produces his own wine under the Sandlands label and is the current winemaker for Turley Vineyards in Napa. We are lucky to be offered one ton of this fruit per year allowing us to vinify just 2-3 barrels annually.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94 points “The 2021 Pato Vineyard Heritage Wine is dark and brooding from the outset. Black cherry, gravel, incense, licorice, dried herbs, menthol, tobacco and cured meats are all amplified. In 2021, the Pato is mostly Zinfandel, with a big chunk of Petite Sirah, and it is the Petite that very much drives the overall feel.”

Wine Enthusiast 93 points “Classic Rockpile spice and power are easy to discern on the nose of this Zin. Blackberry, cherry and plum aromas dominate, with an earthy richness wafting around. The palate shows plenty of structure for aging, giving freshly crushed berry fruit, spice and caramel flavors and rich, silky tannins. Drink 2028-2040.”
Marietta Cellars Angeli Estate Grown Zinfandel, Alexander Valley 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $39.50, that’s $37.53 at 5% off and $35.55 at 10% off, 18 bottles in stock now

The full-bodied palate is packed to the brim with ripe, juicy berry fruit. It has a pleasant touch of chew to its tannins to support its generous fruit, and it has a long, gently warm finish. 900 cases produced.”

Spicy and easy to drink, it has aromas of red and black cherries, mint, bitter chocolate and allspice with earthy undertones. The medium-bodied palate is finely chalky and refreshing, with spicy fruit and an easygoing finish. This will be enjoyable with almost any dish at the table and, as always, overdelivers for the price.”

It has pure, layered scents of apricot, graham cracker, raspberry jam, mossy bark and spice. The palate is light-bodied, soft and juicy with a core of nuanced berry fruit and a mouthwatering, perfumed finish. This is ideal for spicy food! 2,000 cases produced.”
Ridge Vineyards Geyserville, Alexander Valley 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $51.90, that’s $49.31 at 5% off and $46.71 at 10% off, 16 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 95 points “A perennial standout for the winery that is produced for wider distribution, the 2023 Zinfandel Geyserville is a blend of 70% Zinfandel, 18% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah and 3% Alicante, the 2023 a highly ageable vintage with great acidity. That freshness helps to define the wine’s juicy core of well-mannered, supple tannins and oak, the wine aged entirely in 100% air-dried American oak, 15% of it new. It truly offers the perfect balance of dark fruit and freshness, within a full-bodied richness and structure still built for aging, as with all Ridge wines. Enjoy now through 2033.”

Jeb Dunnuck 95 points “A 100% Zin from a single-vineyard estate of organically grown grapes in iron-rich soils, the 2023 Zinfandel East Bench is one of the producer’s only 100% Zins, and it is special at that, with mind-blowing structure. Medium-bodied and remarkably light on its feet, it has classic brambly berry fruit, dusty tannins, and seasonings of baking spice, a fantastically elegant representation of the appellation when in the right hands. Enjoy now through 2033.”
Ridge Vineyards Paso Robles Zinfandel, San Luis Obispo County 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $43.50, that’s $41.33 at 5% off and $39.15 at 10% off, 18 bottles in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 94 points “The 2023 Zinfandel Paso Robles is made from 100% Zinfandel grown at Benito Dusi Ranch, the vines old and established; Ridge’s first vintage was 1967. Featuring full-bodied, jammy red fruit, it is juicy, broad, and fleshy while also offering a high-toned, restrained style. A hallmark of the vineyard is its great acidity, with brightness a consistent characteristic across vintages. Round, it’s not sweet but allows enough sweetness from the fruit to be lush and appealing from start to finish, spending 12 months in 15% new American oak. Drink now through 2033.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 91-93 points “The 2023 Zinfandel Cedarman is a very serious wine in this vintage. Dark and imposing, with serious gravitas, the 2023 packs an intense punch. Wild cherry, lavender, licorice, menthol, mocha and dried herbs all power through. This is a stellar botting and a great value, too.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 91-93 points “The 2023 Zinfandel del Barba is ripe, boisterous and super-expressive. Floral overtones and bright acids run through a core of red/purplish fruit. Sandy soils confer lovely aromatic presence to this pure Zinfandel. This is an especially accessible offering from Turley. “

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 90-92 points “The 2023 Zinfandel Dragon Vineyard is a seriously forbidding wine with tons of mountain structure, acid and tannin. Unyielding and imposing, the Dragon is searing in its intensity. Red fruit, blood orange, chalk, mint and white pepper all race across the palate, supported by incisive, pointy tannins. Iron, white flowers and slate lend notable tension through the finish.”

Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92-94 points “The 2023 Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard is one of the best wines I have tasted from this site, as it has more textural depth and resonance than is typically the case. As always, the Kirschenmann Zinfandel is aromatic and lifted. In 2023, it is a bit more complex and nuanced than it often is. Bright red-toned fruit and floral overtones linger. This is such a pretty wine. “
Turley Wine Cellars Old Vines Zinfandel, California 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $34.90, that’s $33.16 at 5% off and $31.41 at 10% off, 4 bottles in stock now
Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 92 points “As with the Juvenile bottling, the 2022 Zinfandel Old Vines punches above its weight in this vintage. The nose is considerably deeper, fuller and more polished, opening with aromas of crushed plums, wild berry preserves, tobacco leaves and similar autumnal accents to its younger sibling. The palate is light- to medium-bodied, carrying through the polished quality of the nose and melds it with a subtly dusty tannin structure and bright acidity. The finish is straightforward and easy to drink, offering generous layers of fruit, spice and floral notes.”
Turley Wine Cellars Pesenti Vineyard Zinfandel, Paso Robles 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $45, that’s $42.75 at 5% off and $40.50 at 10% off, 19 bottles in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 92-94 points “The 2023 Zinfandel Pesenti Vineyard is a classic Paso Robles Zinfandel. It emerges from a site planted in 1923. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice and cloves blast across the palate. A wine of substance and forward, luscious fruit, the 2023 is alluring from start to finish.”

Soave & The Magic of Italian Whites
The big and bold Amarone reds might be the Veneto region of northern Italy’s most famous wines, but the light and crisp Soave wines are not to be missed. Known for their refreshing acidity, crunchy fruit flavors, and nutty finish, these are delicious and affordable delights. The indigenous Garganega grape constitutes at least 70% of DOC wines. The rest can be a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco, and Trebbiano di Soave (often confused with the unrelated Trebbiano Toscano, which is considered a lesser grape).
We have picks from two of our favorite producers: Pieropan (well known for their quality) and Cantina Prà, a small-yet-mighty family producer that began crafting Soave before expanding into Veneto reds.
“I find both the red and white wines of Pra to always be a standout in tastings… There’s an unmistakable level of freshness and saline-minerality that runs through the entire portfolio and sets these wines apart.” -Eric Guido, Vinous
