Brovia’s cuvees have it all: perfectionist vineyard management (organic without certification, careful pruning, and hand harvesting), superb and distinctive holdings (such as Villero in the Serralunga), and unapologetically old-school winemaking. It all adds up to consistently excellent releases.

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Brovia Villero, Barolo DOCG 2019 1.5L Displayed Price: $289, that’s $274.55 at 5% off and $260.10 at 10% off, 1 magnum in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 96 points
“With fruit from one of the top growing sites in Castiglione Falletto, the 2019 Barolo Villero shows a slightly ripe and soft side with cherry and dried raspberry followed by licorice, tar and rusty metal. This is an elegant expression, with a terrific sense of focus, that delivers complexity and depth, especially in this excellent vintage. Only 5,000 bottles were released.”

“Cavallotto may very well be the greatest Barolo producer few people have ever heard of… Readers who appreciate a firm, classic style of Barolo will want to spend some time getting to know Cavallotto.” – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cavallotto Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe, Barolo Riserva DOCG 2016 1.5L Displayed Price: $399, that’s $379.05 at 5% off and $359.10 at 10% off, 2 magnums in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 98 points
“A certified organic wine, the Cavallotto 2016 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe is born in vineyards on a beautiful ridge in Castiglione Falletto with wide views of both the sunrise and the sunset. From this magical site at the heart of the Barolo appellation comes a wine that represents the very best of vintage and territory. Dark fruit, dried cherry, wild plum, rose and iron ore meet a perfect intersection that gives this Barolo a beautiful sense of balance and inner energy. Fruit comes from a 2.4-hectare plot with southwest-facing vines that are 60 years old. After destemming, the grapes see 28 days of skin contact (semi-submerged caps) in steel tanks. Secondary fermentation occurs in cement in the spring following the harvest. The wine is aged in Slavonian oak for 60 months. Production is 8,794 bottles and other larger formats.”

Fèlsina is a leader in Chianti’s quality revolution, emphasizing terroir and the expressive potential of Sangiovese with their impressive cuvées. Their wines offer beauty and boldness in their youth with a long track record of rewarding cellar potential. They offer some of the most collectible wines in the appellation but at far more consumer-friendly price points than their peers.

Felsina Berardenga Fontalloro Toscana IGT 2018 1.5L Displayed Price: $128, that’s $121.60 at 5% off and $115.20 at 10% off, 6 magnums in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 95 points
“The 2018 Fontalloro is bright, floral and full of energy. In most vintages, Fontalloro is quite open, but the 2018 is especially nervy and taut. That won’t be an issue in time, of course, but readers should plan on being patient. Sangiovese is so expressive here. A whole range of floral and savory accents lingers on the close.”

Elisabetta Foradori is an icon of biodynamics and the natural wine movement. And her wines are classic and pure. Her trailblazing curiosity has led her down a number of different (now trendy) roads long before anyone else in her region, including the use of amphora, a return to the traditional pergola trellis, and an emphasis on polycultural farming practices.

This is the only listing in the USA today for the magnum!
Foradori ‘Fuoripista’ Pinot Grigio Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT, Trentino-Alto Adige 2020 1.5L Displayed Price: $119, that’s $113.05 at 5% off and $107.10 at 10% off, 4 magnums in stock now
James Suckling 95 points
“…So much caramelized-orange aroma, plus pomegranate, oolong tea and rose-petal character. Bone-dry and incredibly lively, this makes you feel glad to be alive! From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.”

Giacomo Conterno wines are among the top tier of wines being produced in all of Italy. The wines are always powerful and traditional, but with an elegance and grace that seems to transcend the immediate impact of flavor and leave you searching for descriptors to capture what you’ve tasted.

Giacomo Conterno ‘Cerretta’, Barolo DOCG 2018 1.5L Displayed Price: $599, that’s $569.05 at 5% off and $539.10 at 10% off, 1 magnum in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 95-97 points
“Tasted from barrel, the Giacomo Conterno 2018 Barolo Cerretta is shaping up to be a beauty. What stands out most at this very young stage is the quality and the elegant tightness of the tannins. Cerretta fruit from Serralunga d’Alba makes for powerful, structured and concentrated Nebbiolo that is delivered with naked clarity and outstanding purity. These qualities are clearly linked to the vineyard site and less to the conservative efforts executed at the winery. You taste the crunch or the nervous quality of the grape skins and pulp with dark and purple berry nuances and rusty or mineral overtones that hint at the more significant presence of clay in these soils”

La Gerla’s fantastic (yet affordable) success can in part be credited to their estate, which they purchased in 1976 from the Biondi Santi family. Their original vineyard, Gli Angeli, includes plantings by the famous previous owners. It rests high in the hills of the Canalicchio zone, just north of the village of Montalcino, yet is in an isolated pocket that shields the vines from adverse weather. The Angeli Riserva comes entirely from a one-hectare parcel of old vines within this vineyard.

These are the only listings in the USA today for the large formats!
La Gerla Riserva gli Angeli, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 1.5L Displayed Price: $219, that’s $208.05 at 5% off and $197.10 at 10% off, 2 magnums in stock now
La Gerla Riserva gli Angeli, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 3L Displayed Price: $449, that’s $426.55 at 5% off and $404.10 at 10% off, 1 double-magnum in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 96 points
“Smoldering with remarkable depth, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gli Angeli makes itself known with a blend of spicy citrus peels and minty herbs giving way to masses of black cherry, strawberries, hints of iodine and smoke. This is a textural thrill ride, velvety and almost weighty in feel, while finding wonderful balance in its vibrant acidity and the tart wild berry fruits and savory spices that are unleashed upon the palate. Hints of mocha combine with sour cherry and almond paste through the impressively long and classically structured finale. In the end, the 2016 Gli Angeli is the total package. This Riserva is a single-vineyard bottling from La Gerla’s northern Montalcino vineyard, which was planted by Biondi-Santi in 1968.”

Masciarelli Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2022 1.5L Displayed Price: 21.90, that’s $20.81 at 5% off and $19.71 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 90 points
“The 2022 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo opens with a savory mix of wild herbs, cedar shavings and dried black cherries. It impresses with its silken textures and a solid core of tart wild berry fruits elevated by a tinge of zesty acidity toward the close. Violet inner florals combine with blood orange as the 2022 finishes long and gently tannic yet still relatively fresh.”

Arianna Occhipinti grows her vines without any chemical intervention on traditional Sicilian bushvines (Called Albarello in Sicilian) well off the beaten path from other more well-known production zones like Agrigento or Etna. She comes from a famous winemaking family in Sicily, but her talents and terroir are what make her a rockstar.

Arianna Occhipinti Il Frappato Terre Siciliane IGT 2023 1.5L Displayed Price: $109, that’s $103.55 at 5% off and $98.10 at 10% off, 2 magnums in stock now
Decanter 93 points
“You can feel all of Arianna Occhipinti’s tremendous energy and passion in her wines. The 2023 Il Frappato marks the 20th vintage of this landmark wine for the region. A dark cherry fragrance predominates, while the tight and bright palate is wound around a sapid core with gentle phenolic grip, balanced by breezy herbs and a hint of strawberry on the finish. Pure class. Organic.”

Produttori del Barbaresco is revered for producing classically-styled Barbarescos of uncompromising quality and transparency. You’d be hard-pressed to find such consistent quality and complexity out of such an extensive range of single-vineyard Nebbiolos anywhere else.

Produttori del Barbaresco Ovello, Barbaresco Riserva DOCG 2017 1.5L Was $169, Displayed Price: $159, that’s $151.05 at 5% off and $143.10 at 10% off, 6 magnums in stock now
Monica Larner-Wine Advocate 94+ points
“One of the bigger productions (with 17,744 bottles) in the Produttori del Barbaresco’s portfolio is the 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello. All of the Riservas in this vintage are characterized by especially exuberant and bold aromas, and this bottle is a prime example. Cassis, wild cherry, tobacco, rusty nail and licorice build intensity. The wine is tapered and silky in texture, but it also offers a good amount of power (and 15% alcohol) to carry it through the aging process.”

Produttori del Barbaresco Rabaja, Barbaresco Riserva DOCG 2019 1.5L Was $199, Displayed Price: $189, that’s $179.55 at 5% off and $170.10 at 10% off, 2 magnums in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 94 points
“The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is redolent of dark fruit, crushed rocks, graphite, sage, menthol and lavender all race across the palate, supported by bracing, young Rabajà tannins that make themselves felt. This mid-weight, powerhouse Barbaresco packs quite a punch.”

Chianti remains one of the best value regions in Italy, despite its great international acclaim. Case in point? The wines from Rocca di Montegrossi. Those looking to get to know the rare, indigenous red variety Pugnitello can experience the “Ridolfo” bottling, a Cab-Pugnitello blend available exclusively in magnum.

Rocca di Montegrossi ‘Ridolfo’ Toscana IGT 2015 1.5L Was $179, Displayed Price: $159, that’s $151.05 at 5% off and $143.10 at 10% off, 13 magnums in stock now
Antonio Galloni-Vinous 98+ points
“The 2015 Ridolfo is a new Cabernet Sauvignon/Pugnitello blend from Marco Ricasoli bottled only in magnum. Vibrant and finely sculpted, the 2015 impresses right out of the gate. A whole range of savory aromatics, lavender, spice, licorice and mocha open with time in the glass. Sweet rose petal and cinnamon appear later, adding brightness and lift. Cabernet Sauvignon and Pugnitello are not obvious varieties to blend, as they are, on paper, more similar than complementary. Even so, the combination works so well. I can’t wait to see how this ages. The 2015 is a total knock-out!”

In Barolo, an estate offering both high quality and affordable pricing is a rarity. One such estate is Paolo Scavino. With access to some of Barolo’s most prized vineyards and a winemaking team that embraces the best of both modern and traditional techniques, the Scavino wines are arguably the smartest buys in Barolo today.

Paolo Scavino Bric del Fiasc, Barolo DOCG 2019 1.5L Displayed Price: $249, that’s $236.55 at 5% off and $224.10 at 10% off, 3 magnums in stock now
Jeb Dunnuck 98 points
“The 2019 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is the hallmark wine of the estate, and it shows. Taking on more concentration, it is pure and generous with kirsch, star anise, nutmeg, and menthol and moves impressively to the palate with ease and nobility. It offers fantastic depth while remaining true to the vintage and propels forward through an arch of acidity, while having grounded notes of Earl Grey tea, black cherry, and crushed stones as well as ripe tannins. Drink 2026-2046.”
