Siro Pacenti PS Vecchie Vigne, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2017 750ml $99 special, 18 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 94 points
“The Siro Pacenti 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne shows an extra degree of concentration and thickness thanks both to the vintage (this hot and dry growing season produced darker, more intense berries) and the older vines that also work toward greater fruit weight. The Vecchie Vigne shows lots of depth and textural weaving with dark berries and oak spice. In fact, the oak (and that big 15% alcohol) is more prominent in this 18,000-bottle release. It offers long-lasting notes of smoke, sweet cedar and woodshop.”
Vinous 92 points “The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne presents an intense bouquet of crushed raspberries and cloves giving way to dusty florals and hints of incense. The textures are wonderfully silky and refined, ushering in a rush of mineral-tinged primary fruits that are brighter and more red-toned in this vintage than usual, as well as incredibly concentrated. The tannins come forward through the close, grippy and youthfully dry, along with a salty flourish, while leaving hints of licorice to slowly taper off. Siro Pacenti cut their production down by 50% to create this successful expression of the 2017 vintage.”

Ar.Pe.Pe

Arpepe makes some of the purest expressions of Nebbiolo in the world. With vineyards spread across the Valtellina Superiore DOCG area, including in the subregions of Sassella, Grumello, and Inferno, they’ve established a highly notable winery. Being family owned and operated for over 150 years, they’ve had time to develop winemaking techniques that set them apart from the rest. Their pace of work is set by early philosophies enforced by the orginal founder Arturo Pelizzatti Perego, “the time it takes” and “the right waiting time”. These philosophies manifests in a winemaking process dictated by time, humility, and dedication to the wine. These wines are simply well made and we have a range to offer you!

Here’s what’s in stock now at Vinopolis.

Ar.Pe.Pe. Buon Consiglio Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Grumello DOCG 2013 750ml $99 special, 18 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 95+ points
“One of two late-release wines from Ar. Pe. Pe., the 2013 Valtellina Superiore Grumello Riserva Buon Consiglio is a beautifully light and delicate expression of Nebbiolo with a lean, ruby-tinged appearance. The wine ages to silkiness and extreme suppleness, and I cannot help but notice the unique aromas of toasted hazelnut, mountain flower and balsam herb that rise so delicately from the bouquet. These results are exquisite and ultra delicate, giving the wine a lithe or ethereal personality. What a beauty. Only 6,000 bottles were released.”
Wine Spectator 94 points “A perfumed red, exuding aromas and flavors of crushed raspberry and pureed strawberry, exotic spice and graphite, dried marjoram and thyme. It’s finely knit, with silky tannins and mouthwatering, citrus peel acidity. A graceful version with a lasting, mineral-laced finish.”
Wine Enthusiast 93 points “Camphor, wild rose and botanical herbs mingle with a whiff of wet granite. On the elegantly structured, still youthfully austere palate, tight, refined tannins lithely support sour cherry, orange zest and star anise. It’s vibrant and balanced, with bright acidity.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Sesto Canto Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Inferno DOCG 2013 750ml $99 special, 12 bottles in stock
Wine Spectator 93 points
“There’s a lovely juiciness to the crushed black raspberry and strawberry fruit on display in this elegant, medium- to full-bodied red, yet sleek tannins are well-integrated and provide fine definition. Fragrant notes of tea leaf, pomegranate and hot stone chime on the silky finish.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Vigna Regina – Nuova Regina Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Sassella DOCG 2013 750ml $99 special, 11 bottles in stock
Wine Enthusiast 96 points
“Loaded with finesse and energy and still youthfully austere, this linear, structured red offers tart cranberry, blood orange and star anise sensations. A vein of salty mineral provides the backdrop while fine-grained tannins provide elegant structure and support. Racy acidity keeps it balanced. Give it time to fully develop and blossom into even more of a beauty. Drink 2025–2035.”
Wine Advocate 95 points “A release of about 6,000 bottles, the Ar. Pe. Pe. 2013 Valtellina Superiore Riserva Sassella Nuova Regina draws its fruit from terraced vineyards delineated by rocky drywalls. The vines are at least 50 years old and planted in friable metamorphic rock or gneiss shaped by glaciers. This wine is made in a highly traditional manner with extended skin maceration in oak casks, and all the harvest work is done by hand. This is a true beauty with enormous finesse and a deep well of aromatic nuances that center around wild berries, blue flowers and iron ore. The wine is carefully aged with fine and silky tannins. It tastes great, so if you have a bottle you can drink it now or wait longer if that is your pleasure.”

Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello Rocca de Piro Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Grumello DOCG 2015 750ml $49 special, 12 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 93 points
“Fruit for this wine comes from the high altitudes of the Rhaetian Alps, where decomposed granite soils make for a dark contrast against brilliant white ice and snow falls. The Ar. Pe. Pe. 2015 Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo Grumello Rocca de Piro reveals a long succession of dried raspberry, cassis, pressed violets, iron ore and crushed stone. This wine promises to make a terrific pairing with a simple plate of thinly sliced Valtellina bresaola. Some 30,000 bottles were made.”
Wine Enthusiast 92 points “Initially shy, the subtle nose eventually reveals new leather, Alpine herb and wild berry. The savory palate has an understated elegance, offering Marasca cherry, pomegranate and graphite alongside refined tannins.”
Wine Spectator 92 points “An elegant light- to medium-bodied red, with fine tannins creating a supple frame for flavors wild strawberry, black tea leaf and a ferrous, minerally underpinning. It’s fresh and focused, with a lingering, lightly spiced finish.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Rosso di Valtellina, Lombardy 2019 750ml $36 special, 11 bottles in stock
Wine Enthusiast 93 points
“Showing the youthful side of Nebbiolo, this fantastic red from the mountains opens with heady scents of fragrant blue flower, ripe wild berry and camphor. Lithe and bright, the vibrant, delicious palate offers pristine fruit sensations of juicy red cherry, ripe strawberry and baking spice alongside glossy tannins and fresh acidity. A salty mineral note lingers on the close. Enjoy through 2024.”

Ar.Pe.Pe. Grumello Sant’ Antonio Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Grumello DOCG 2013 750ml $108 special, 4 bottles in stock
Antonio Galloni 95 points
“The 2013 Valtellina Superiore Grumello Riserva Sant’Antonio is a bold, pungent wine. Dark red and purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and licorice race across the palate. A deep, vertical Riserva, the 2013 is very young today, but it is so impressive. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s striking inner perfume, sweetness and sheer pedigree.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Stella Retica Riserva, Valtellina Superiore Sassella DOCG 2015 750ml $45 special, 22 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 94 points
“$59. From Sassella, one of the most celebrated villages in the greater Valtellina appellation on the northern bank of the Adda River, this is the quintessential mountain Nebbiolo. Named for the “star of the Rhaetian Alps,” the Ar. Pe. Pe. 2015 Valtellina Superiore Nebbiolo Sassella Stella Retica opens slowly to reveal wild berry, cassis, smoke, tar and crushed granite. The wine is gentle and polished, wrapping smoothly over the senses. It has has ample time to soften in the bottle and is drinking beautifully right now with some Alpine cheese wedges. Some 42,000 bottles were made.”
Wine Enthusiast 93 points “Woodland berry, camphor, wild rose and wet stone aromas shape the nose. The chiseled palate delivers red cherry, cranberry, Alpine herb and star anise set against taut, ultrafine tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2022–2030.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Ultimi Raggi, Valtellina Superiore Sassella 2009 750ml $99 special, 4 bottles in stock
Vinous 95 points
“The 2009 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Ultimi Raggi is beguiling, rich, dense and powerful. Cinnamon, dried dark cherry, leather, smoke and licorice come together in a full-bodied, somewhat rustic wine with no shortage of character. The Ultimi Raggi is made from the last fruit on the vine to ripen, and is therefore sweeter and richer through the mid-palate, with more palate weight and overall density than is found in most of these wines. I loved it.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Ar.Pe.Pe. Ultimi Raggi, Valtellina Superiore Sassella 2013 750ml $99 special, 11 bottles in stock
Antonio Galloni 93+ points
“The 2013 Valtellina Superiore Sassella Riserva Ultimi Raggi is a bit austere. Red purplish fruit, dried herbs, orange peel, spices, rose petals and cinnamon are layered in this exotic, beguiling Valtellina Superiore. Readers will find a wine of terrific energy, with bright acids that run through a tight finish. It’s hard to say for a wine that is nearly ten years old, but the 2013 might still need time!”

Avancia

With vines located in the picture perfect mountainsides of Valdeorras, situated above the Sil River, Avancia has unparalled terroir for growing indigenous Spanish grapes like Godello and Mencía.

In 2016 Robert Parker praised Avancia for being one of the best in Spain. This is what he had to say, “One of my favorite wineries in Spain is Bodegas Avancia. This is a small estate of roughly 23 acres, dry farmed (a characteristic of all of the selections of Jorge Ordóñez), with organic viticulture. Their specialty is working with the Godello grape, which may well be Spain’s finest indigenous white grape. It has the texture of a Chardonnay, but with crisp, mineral and floral notes in its aromatics. Avancia is certainly the top producer of this intriguing and delicious dry white.”unique conditions for growing Mencía, Galicia’s most important red grape. The combination of slate soils, high altitudes, old vines, and warmer climate compared to the rest of Galicia provide Valdeorras with the best terroir for growing Mencía.”

Bodegas Avancia Cuvee de O Godello, Valdeorras 2019 750ml $18 special, 36+ bottles in stock
Case-12 Bodegas Avancia Cuvee de O Godello, Valdeorras 2019 750ml $189 special (that’s only $15.75/bottle)
Vinous 91 points
“Green-hued yellow-gold. Assertive aromas of fresh citrus and orchard fruits, along with hints of smoky lees, vanilla and melon in the background. Rich but impressively lively in the mouth, offering intense Anjou pear, white peach and Meyer lemon flavors underscored by a smoky mineral quality. Clings with strong tenacity on the penetrating finish, which leaves bitter citrus pith and floral notes behind.”
Wine Advocate 91 points “The entry-level white 2019 Cuveé de O Godello has an expressive nose of white pepper and herbs that makes me think of a Gruner Veltliner, very spicy and peppery. It’s ripe and juicy at 14.31% alcohol and has good freshness, combining volume and balance. It’s a blend of wines that matured in stainless steel and oak with the lees for nine months. 29,819 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2020.”
Wine Spectator 90 points “A vibrant acidity cuts through the quince, tangerine and ginger flavors in this round and polished white, underscored by chive, spice and heather elements, followed by a long, mineral-laced finish. Drink now through 2024. 3,000 cases made, 1,750 cases imported.”
Jeb Dunnuck 90 points “All Godello, the 2019 Cuvée de O Godello offers a ripe, musky, slightly tropical style in its guava, citrus, minty herb, and honeyed toast-like aromas and flavors. A richer, medium-bodied white, it has plenty of texture, good, balancing acidity, and a great finish. It’s geared for the dinner table and will keep for 2-3 years with no issues, although I see no need to delay gratification.”

Bodegas Avancia Nobleza Old Vines Godello, Valdeorras 2020 750ml $56.50 special, 15 bottles in stock
Vinous 94 points
“Pale gold. Intensely perfumed pear nectar and orange zest qualities on the nose; honeysuckle and mineral notes add lift. Juicy, penetrating and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated citrus and orchard fruit and floral flavors along with suggestions of salty minerals and bitter quinine. Deftly melds depth and vivacity and finishes extremely long and briny, with outstanding clarity and repeating florality.”
Wine Advocate 92 points “A new top-of-the-range white, the 2020 Nobleza Godello is a barrel selection from the wine from the Finca Aeiroá, which was planted in 1939 on schist and slate soils above the village of O Barco. They selected 900 liters from three 600-liter barrels, one of them new. It’s textured, voluptuous and ripe at 14% alcohol but with balancing acidity. It’s peppery and spicy and a little marked by the oak, with a dry, slightly astringent finish. It should improve with time in bottle.”

Washington State Cabernet

*This is the last vintage from Tapteil Vineyard produced by Cadence!
Cadence Winery Tapteil Vineyard Red, Columbia Valley 2019 750ml $44.50 special, 13 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 93+ points
“The 2019 Tapteil Vineyard offers more red and black currants, tobacco, chocolaty oak, and earth-like aromas and flavors, with a slightly darker, more herbal, slightly floral style. It’s tight, medium-bodied, and focused on the palate, with ripe tannins, and it’s going to benefit from bottle age. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15+ as well. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot. 443 cases were produced.”

Cadence Winery Camerata Cara Mia Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain 2019 750ml $59 special, 10 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 94+ points
“Moving to the two reserve wines, the 2019 Camerata is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Merlot. It’s ruby/plum-hued and almost opaque, with a great bouquet of spiced currants, black cherries, lead pencil, sandalwood, and dried herbs. Beautiful on the palate as well, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a supple, elegant mouthfeel, the elegant, seamless style of the vintage, and a great finish. It already offers pleasure, yet I see no reason it won’t evolve for 20+ years. 290 cases.”

Cadence Winery Bel Canto Cara Mia Vineyard Red, Columbia Valley 2019 750ml $69 special, 21 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 96 points
“The 2019 Bel Canto is more Cabernet Franc-dominated and includes 17% Merlot. While it doesn’t match the 2018, it’s a beauty offering impressive redcurrant and spiced plum fruits, notes of spicy oak, dried flowers, and leafy herbs, medium to full body, a pure, seamless, gorgeous texture, and ultra-fine tannins. It’s just a stunning Cabernet Franc from Washington State that offers incredible pleasure today given its balance and texture yet will evolve for 20+ years. 290 cases.”

The Unnamed Series Red Blend, Walla Walla Valley 2019 750ml $28 special, 36+ bottles in stock
Wine Spectator 94 points
“Expressive and multilayered, with vibrant red currant, black olive, violet and licorice tones that build polish and richness toward refined tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2030. 525 cases made.”
Jeb Dunnuck 92 points “From the team at Reynvaan and a blend of 42% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Merlot The Unnamed Series /Cab Sauv/Cab Franc sports a ruby/plum hue to go with some classic Rocks notes of mulled plums, blueberries, lavender, iron, and tapenade. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied, round, lush, textured wine with ripe tannins, loads of fruit, and just a character-filled, balanced style to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years.”

Avennia Sestina Red, Columbia Valley 2018 750ml $59 special, 7 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 96+ points
“A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Sestina comes from the Red Willow, Dionysus, and Bacchus vineyards and spent 20 months in 48% new French oak barrels. A beautiful, Saint-Julien-like bouquet of blackcurrants, cassis, violets, tobacco, and cedar gives way to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, structured wine that builds incrementally on the palate, with ripe, velvety tannins, a stunning mid-palate, and a blockbuster of a finish. It’s beautifully done, and while it drinks well today given its balance, purity, and texture, it’s going to develop additional complexity with 3-5 years of bottle age and will have 20-25 years of overall longevity.”

Long Shadows ‘Pirouette’, Columbia Valley 2018 1.5L $135 special, 3 bottles in stock
Vinous 95 points
“The 2018 Red Wine Pirouette blends 68% Cabernet Sauvignon with 22% Stone Tree Vineyard Merlot, and 10% Dionysus Vineyard Petit Verdot. The wine was aged 22 months in 85% new French oak prior to bottling. Aromatically beautiful, you are greeted to black rose petals and blackberry compote tones that mingle with wintergreen and chocolate covered espresso bean accents. Deep and concentrated in the mouth, with fantastic flavor density and tension, this finishes long with black fruits, loamy soils and minerals. Enjoy this texturally-beautiful Left Bank inspired Washington wine over the next twenty years to come. “

Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley 2005 750ml $249 special, 1 bottle in stock
Wine Advocate 100 points
“The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon contains 3% Merlot. The principal component comes from the Champoux Vineyard (in which the winery is a partner) with contributions from the Klipsun and Taptiel Vineyards, outstanding in their own right. It, too, was aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it has a splendid perfume of violets, wood smoke, truffle, Asian spices, black cherry, and black currant preserves. Opulent and mouth-coating, the layers of complex flavors nearly hide enough tannin to support 8-10 years of additional cellaring. The oak, tannin, and acidity are beautifully integrated and the lengthy finish lasts for well over a minute. Purchasers no doubt will want to try a bottle immediately but this towering effort will not reach its peak until 2015 at the earliest and provide pleasure through 2040. I say this with confidence because a 1983 Quilceda Creek Cabernet tasted in May 2008 is at its peak now and should carry on for another 10-15 years.”

Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley 2007 750ml $219 special, 1 bottle in stock
Wine Advocate 100 points
“A monumental wine in the making, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of those wines that presents such an over the top array of aromas and flavors that it’s hard to figure out what you think about it with just a quick glance. It’s only with the second or third sip that you really start to see how special this effort truly is. Offering up perfumed, intense aromas of plum, violets, ink, licorice and black currants, it flows onto the palate with a massive, incredibly full-bodied texture that builds through the mid-palate and carries layers of polished tannins, awesome purity of fruit and blockbuster length. Most likely not for everyone given the sheer size, it is an incredible wine in my opinion. Still tasting like a barrel sample, it will have 30+ total years of longevity. Drink 2017-2037.”

Substance ‘Bx’ Klein Vineyard Bordeaux Blend, Columbia Valley 2016 750ml $59 special, 2 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 97 points
“Lastly, the 2016 Klein BX Vineyard Collection checks in as 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 28% Cabernet Franc, all of which was co-fermented and aged 27 months in French oak. Coming from a 3-acre parcel in the vineyard, it’s a monster of a wine loaded with notions of blackcurrants, cassis, chocolate, spice box, tobacco, and scorched earth. It’s not for the faint of heart and is full-bodied, super rich, concentrated, and structured, yet it stays balanced, has a seamless texture, and is remarkably elegant for a wine of this size. It’s going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and cruise for 15-20 years in cold cellars.”

Cayuse Vineyards Camaspelo, Walla Walla Valley 2019 750ml $128 special, 2 bottles in stock
Wine Spectator 94 points
“A dynamic red, with vibrant red and black currant flavors that interplay with zesty pepper, savory herb and stony mineral accents, building toward refined tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo. Drink now through 2031. “
Wine Advocate 92+ points “The 2019 Camaspelo is mostly Cabernet with some Merlot splashed in. The nose begins with a generous and dark fruited frame that is open and expressive with notes of spiced black plum and a soft earthy sensation. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is savory with an umami profile that leads to a soft essence of worn leather and river rock. The wine is generously layered and offers fine-grained tannins that drive the delightfully complex and lingering finish. Only 396 cases were made.”

Cayuse Vineyards Camaspelo, Walla Walla Valley 2020 750ml $119 special, 16 bottles in stock
Skurnik notes
“This fruit hails from Cayuse’s “En Cerise” vineyard.  Literally translated, “En Cerise” means “cherry”—appropriate since this 10-acre vineyard planted in 1998 was a cherry orchard in its former life.”

Cayuse Vineyards ‘Widowmaker’ En Chamberlin Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley 2019 750ml $149 special, 1 bottle in stock
Wine Advocate 96 points
“Generously layered in the glass with aromas of turned earth, blackberry jus and dusty purple flowers, the 2019 The Widowmaker en Chamberlin Vineyard is delightfully rustic yet also possesses a new-world shine. Medium to full-bodied, the 14.1% alcohol wine saddles the line between earthy and fruity flavors before showing a balanced structure with succulent acidity and fine-grained tannins. The wine concludes with a long-lingering and spicy finish that will remain food-friendly until its 20th birthday. Bravo!”
Wine Spectator 95 points “An impressive wine, finely structured and dynamic, with blackberry and red currant flavors accented by river stone, black olive and savory meat. Builds richness toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032.”
James Suckling 94 points “Blackcurrant, black licorice and sliced plum on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with soft, velvety tannins. The steady balance here is great, so even-keeled and articulate. Lifted notes of black fruit and chocolate with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.”

Schafer-Frohlich Felsenberg Riesling Grosses Gewachs, Nahe 2018 750ml $89 special, 12 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 95+ points
“The 2018 Felsenberg Riesling GG opens with a deep, intense and rich, concentrated and aromatic but also flinty bouquet full of ripe Riesling fruits and coolish herbal/vegetal as well gooseberry aromas. On the palate, this is a lush, intense, very mineral, salty-piquant and tightly structured dry Riesling from volcanic rocks. It’s a powerful but elegant, fresh and precise Riesling with great complexity and lingering salinity. A fabulous Felsenberg with lots of vitality and youthful grip. 13% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in August and October 2019.”
John Gilman 94+ points “By picking early in the Felsenberg, Tim Fröhlich was able to keep around 7.5 grams of acidity in his GG here this year, and he estimates that the wine will end up just about 12.5 percent octane. It is an absolutely superb bottle in the making, with the nose delivering a beautiful young constellation of tart orange, pink grapefruit, flint, smoke, lemongrass, wild yeasts, citrus peel and a delicate topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and very elegant and seamless in balance, with a superb core of fruit, lovely backend mineral lift, bright acids and a very long, complex and extremely promising finish. Great juice. 2024-2065.”

“So many fresh floral notes, plenty of orange zest, sage and a whiff of smoke. Juicy stone fruit and lively acidity, with very well integrated natural grape sweetness that you feel less and less as the wine flows over your palate into the delicate, wet-stone and rock-salt finish. Drink or hold.”
Wine Advocate 93 points “The 2020 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett is a Schaefer classic that opens with a brilliantly clear and still reductive bouquet of crushed slate and perfectly ripe Riesling fruit. The attack on the palate is vibrantly fresh, but there is also lush fruit and generosity as well as this hedonistic lightness and brightness that makes you quaff this Kabinett masterpiece until the bottle’s end. This is a highly stimulating, cool and grippy wet Riesling with so much Jugendstil. 7.5% alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in September 2021.”

Peter Lauer ‘Neuenbersch- Neuenberg’ Fass 17 Riesling, Mosel 2017 750ml $46 special, 17 bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 94 points
“Florian Lauer’s 2017 Ayler Kupp Neuenberg Riesling Fass 17 is very clear and intense yet subtle and finely mineral on the elegant, fruity, well-defined nose. Round and textured on the palate, with a certain creaminess and melodiousness, this is an intense and mouth-filling yet vital and persistent classic Riesling that is neither too dry nor too sweet and comes along with remarkable finesse, mineral tension and complexity. Still too young but already very promising.”
Stuart Pigott 93-94 points “Still a bit compact and monolithic, but there’s excellent ripeness. A long finish with cool, wet stones and lemons. Better from 2019, but it also shows long-term aging potential.”
Wine Advocate 92-93 points “The 2017 Ayler Kupp Neuenberg Riesling “Fass 17″ offers a deep, pure and flinty bouquet with floral and stony aromas and beautiful mineral freshness. Piquant and lush on the palate, this is a light to medium-bodied, very pure and mineral Riesling with refreshing acidity. The wine has a stimulatingly grippy finish with lush tropical fruit in the aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted March 2018.”

Domaine de la Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose, Provence 2021 750ml $24 special, 12 bottles in stock
Vinous 92 points
“Light, bright orange. Vibrant pomegranate, blood orange and pit fruit qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with building mineral and floral accents. Taut and focused in the mouth, nicely concentrated red berry, orange zest and lavender flavors are supported by an undercurrent of chalky minerality. Finishes floral and long, with repeating mineral and citrus fruit notes.”
Wine Advocate 91 points “Regularly a top Bandol, the flamingo-pink 2021 Bandol Rose comes across initially as rather simple, fruity and easy. Plum, cherry and melon notes do add attractive hints of crushed stone and lime on the zesty-briny finish of this medium-bodied effort. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.”

Chateau Pradeaux Bandol Rose, Provence 2021 750ml $36.50 special, 36+ bottles in stock
Wine Advocate 91-93 points
“Not bottled yet at the time of my spring visit to the region, the 2021 Bandol Rose nevertheless showed exceptional promise in my blind tasting. A blend of 80% Mourvèdre and 20% Cinsault, it’s a coppery flamingo-pink in color, with more extraction and tannin than your typical Bandol rosé. It’s round and ripe on the palate, medium to full-bodied, with cherry and lime notes and a long, softly dusty finish. The 2020 version, tried at the estate, is still going strong and might be even a little bit better. Don’t skip it just because it’s not called out on this list.”
Rosenthal Wine Merchant importer note “The Bandol Rosé from Pradeaux is perhaps the most serious wine in this category. Robust, rich, and complex with an ability to age gracefully, Etienne Portalis insists that the Domaine’s rosé is a gastronomic experience, not just an easy-drinking wine. We could not agree more, and tastings at Château Pradeaux have repeatedly demonstrated the graceful, profound future this wine encounters if not swallowed in its infancy.”

Patricia Green Cellars ‘Helen Dusschee’ Tempranillo Rose, Willamette Valley 2021 750ml $29 special, 15 bottles in stock
Winery note
“Years ago we committed to NOT making rosé because we liked drinking it too much to get into the business of crafting it. That was largely in part because of our belief that rosé should be made from red grapes that have more inherent muscularity than Pinot Noir and being up here in the Northern Willamette Valley means that access to grapes such as Mourvedre, Grenache, Carignan or Tempranillo was incredibly limited to non-existent. Little did we know that lurking within Freedom Hill Vineyard was a block of Tempranillo that they had planted in 2012 at the behest of another winery that has since left the scene.  This was picked while there were still berries that had not changed color on the cluster and accordingly this was picked at 20.3 brix (thus the 12.5% alcohol) and a TA of 7.2 which gives the wine its bright, lifted character. These gangly clusters were lightly whole-bunch pressed and racked a few times off the lees before permanently residing in a stainless steel tank for about six months before being bottled before finishing malolactic fermentation. This wine is bone-dry with plenty of acidity!”

Caladan Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley 2017 750ml $215 special, 3 bottles available
Wine Enthusiast 96 points
“A top bottling of the variety, this small-production wine is structured and strong, opening reductively, with elements of tobacco leaf, oak and sage. The savory character persists in the form of leather and black pepper, allowing just a touch of sharp red fruit to enter and complement. This wine has further secrets to be revealed; enjoy best from 2027–2032.”

Cardinale Estate Red, Napa Valley 2018 750ml $299 special, 4 bottles in stock
Jeb Dunnuck 98 points
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is based on a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot that spent 22 months in 81% new French oak. It’s a wonderfully complete, borderline perfect wine that shows the class of this estate as well as the vintage, revealing a seamless, full-bodied style that carries lots of blackcurrant, graphite, lead pencil, and tobacco aromatics, a deep, layered mid-palate, ultra-fine tannins, and flawless balance. As with most of Chris’s 2018s, it’s a wine that builds slowly with time in the glass, offering a layered, singular character. It’s a gorgeous 2018 that can be drunk today with ample pleasure, but it will ideally be given 4-6 years of bottle age, at which point it should evolve gracefully for 30-40 years.”
Wine Advocate 98 points “Composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, the 2018 Cardinale was aged in French oak barrels for 22 months, 81% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it prances out of the glass with gregarious notions of warm cassis, black cherries and wild blueberries, followed by emerging earth scents with a tobacco and garrigue undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, gracefully styled and refreshing, the vibrant black and blue-fruited palate offers a wonderfully fine-grained texture and bags of energy, finishing long with a skip in its step. 5,107 cases were made.”
Antonio Galloni 97+ points “The 2018 Cardinale Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and sumptuous right out of the gate. Soaring aromatics and silky tannins add finesse to the dark mountain fruit. It’s hard to remember a vintage with this much sheer appeal in the early going. As always, Cardinale is a blend of choice hillside blocks. In 2018, the core is built around Stags Leap, Atlas Peak and St. Helena. Winemaker Chris Carpenter has backed off some of the overtness of the past years, and that is a huge benefit in allowing the wine to be more natural, more relaxed. The 2018 spent 21 months in 80-90% new oak, and clearly has the stuffing to handle the oak. It is one of the most refined Cardinales I can remember tasting.”
