Cristom

New to the July Sale!

Cristom is a reference point wine in the Willamette Valley—as close as we have here to a first growth or a producer such as DRC or Dujac (both of whom serve as stylistic references for Cristom).  Since 1992, Cristom has been a top producer, making wines that are both powerful and elegant, and which age beautifully.

July Sale Addition: Force Majeure
Force Majeure is a Washington state insider’s wine.  The name doesn’t come up as often as a winery like Cayuse, but these estate grown gems are typically completely sold out to a rabid mailing list.  It’s a tough winery to source—and for good reason. These are big, bold, dense wines with an elegance that keeps them in beautiful balance.

The Magical, Undiscovered Volnay

of Pierrick Bouley

Generational change is the best chance to buy capital “G” Great Burgundy at reasonable prices.  Case in point? Today’s offering of Volnay from Pierrick Boulay, who has taken over the family estate (known as Reyane & Pascal Bouley).  He’s young and clearly very talented—these are some seriously special wines at prices that are equivalent to most middling producers of Volnay.  We’re sure the pricing will change as he gets more notice, but for now these represent a fantastic buying opportunity.

More Glowing Praise for 2017 in the Mosel

Stephan Reinhardt at the Wine Advocate Weighs In

“After 2015 and 2016, 2017 is the third great vintage in a row in the Mosel. Unlike 2016 (which brought bright and light wines of great finesse and elegance) but pretty similar to 2015 (dramatic wines with vibrant freshness and huge aging potential), 2017 combines ripe, intense fruit with dense, concentrated texture and firm, pronounced acidity.

New Rave Reviews for Oregon Favorites

“Two thousand sixteen is yet another link in an unprecedented chain of outstanding vintages in the Willamette Valley that began in 2014 and has now extended to 2018. Compared to the ‘14s and ‘15s, the ‘16s, while on the rich side for Pinot Noir, show more freshness than wines of the previous years at a similar stage.”
