Daphne Glorian, who was born in Switzerland, seems an unlikely figure to be a leading winemaker in Priorat.  However she fell in love with the region, moving there to help revive old vines and make the best wines she can and she’s now a rock star in the region on the level of Palacios and Barbier.

Clos Erasmus represents her finest wine and a truly spectacular example of what the region is capable of.

The Wine Advocate Weighs in

On 2016 and ’17 Burgundy

On 2016 Red Burgundy:

“While small quantities meant that 2016s were not always available for tasting, I’m pleased to report that the wines are showing very well indeed from bottle. This is a classic Burgundy vintage in the best sense, with bright acids, concentrated fruit and excellent terroir differentiation. The successful whites have tightened up and now evoke a hypothetical blend of 2012 and 2008 in character.

Deux Albion

Saint Cosme’s Best Value?

While we love the basic Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone, Saint Cosme’s “Deux Albion” bottling represents a significant upgrade in the Cotes du Rhone category.  It’s sourced entirely from estate fruit and bears the “Chateau de Saint Cosme” to indicate this.  It’s a brilliant wine, especially in a year like 2016, and absolutely over delivers for the price.

In Stock Now:

“a brilliant Rhone and a killer value”
Chateau de Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Les Deux Albion, Rhone 2016 750ML ($24.95) $19 special
Chateau de Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone Les Deux Albion, Rhone 2016 1.5L ($49.95) $39 special
Grapelive 93 points “Louis Barruol uniquely with the Chateau version of Cotes du Rhone, Les Deux Albions, uses multiple vineyard sites to gain complexity, but still co-ferments all the grapes (together) which includes mainly Syrah, but with a good dose of Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Clairette.
