Marcus Goodfellow is one of the most talented winemakers in Oregon, joined by the equally talented and knowledgeable Megan Joy. Their wines showcase their microscopic understanding of the potential in the terroirs of the Willamette Valley. Together, they craft wines that continually improve—both in the cellar and vintage to vintage. We love the wines for their coiled power and Burgundian structure, and we stack them enthusiastically & abundantly in our own personal cellars to adore for decades to come.

Some of the world’s oldest wineries are still quietly making some of the most profound wines for their region. These estates have been loved and sought-after for generations. Think of Saint Cosme in Gigondas, Schloss Gobelsburg in the Kamptal region of Austria, Karthäuserhof in the Mosel, Ricasoli and Antinori in Tuscany, and Kopke in the Douro.
 
Kopke, founded in 1638, makes what might be the most vibrant and long-lived port wines available. They have been through adverse times in their nearly 400-year history, seeing dramatic shifts in the climate, swings in the popularity of their product, and the rise and fall of populist dictators.

Nikolaihof is a giant of Austrian wine—a producer whose history and quality are unrivaled even in a country full of great producers. As Austria’s oldest operating winery, that history dates back to Roman times. Records first note winemaking occurring at the estate in 470, and the Saahs family has run the property for well over a century.
 
Much like how estates operated in previous centuries, Nikolaihof is farmed under polyculture, producing everything from honey to cut flowers in addition to wine. It was the first winery in the world to fully convert to farming biodynamically, having done so in the 1970s, a surprisingly easy task as no modern farming chemicals have touched the estate’s vines.
