Pierre Bouree et Fils might not be a household name in the USA, but it is one of the many historic producers headquartered in the venerable village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate dates back to the mid-19th century. More recently, Pierre Bouree has grown its profile through shrewd purchases, including the acquisition of Clos de la Justice (a monopole), as well as a small plot within the Premier Cru vineyard Les Champeaux.
Currently run by Brothers Bernard and Jean-Christophe Vallet, intervention in the vineyard is limited to pruning in the spring and organic compost for fertilizer. Just like their cult neighbor Domaine Dujac, the reds are vinified entirely with whole clusters in foudre and raised in oak for two years.
