Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Granges, Loire 2024 750ml $24 special, 11 bottles in stock now
Winemaker Note
“This is Loire Cabernet in its purest form, low in alcohol but high in perfume, which the Baudrys harness through low-intervention techniques like aging only in concrete and bottling unfiltered with barely any sulfur. That suave, silky texture is a delight when it swishes over the palate, especially when matched to a simple meal from fresh ingredients.

Vietti

Vietti is one of the benchmark producers in Barolo—a name that stands alongside Conterno, Mascarello, and Gaja in the short-list for the greatest in the region. Their style can be described as neo-classical. The wines aren’t ultra-traditional, but they do combine what the former owners and winemakers, Luca Currado and Elena Penna, value most about traditional wines of the Piedmont with modern cellar practices. The result is a set of wines that show tons of Nebbiolo character and distinct terroir signatures, but with a certain elegance that’s all Vietti.

The Barolos are the crown jewels of the estate. They represent the best sites under the Vietti’s spade. Organically farmed across the board, these wines offer a fantastic snapshot of the diversity of terroir in Barolo with a distinctive house style.

Vie di Romans

Vie di Romans is one of the flagship wineries of Italy’s northern-eastern region of Friuli. Named for the ancient Roman road that defines one of their vineyards, they sit in the prestigious Isonzo section of the region. The section’s warmer micro-climate yields powerful, rich whites.

The winery holds their wines back for an extra year, accentuating the balance of power and minerality. These are some of the most intriguing, food-friendly bottles around, including their lush Chardonnays and complex Sauvignon Blancs. Their indigenous whites include the ‘Dolée’ Friulano and the Flors di Uis blend. The Dolée has fascinating aromatics of green herbs and ripe citrus, with a rich and decedent body.

Muller-Catoir

The Pfalz as a region focuses on powerful, dry wines. Closer to Strasbourg than Berlin, it is nestled between the Haardt Mountains and the Rhine River in a veritable oasis of forests and hills. Archeological records show that the district was one of the first areas in the world to have widespread consumption and production of wine, dating back to 550 B.C.E.

The beneficial growing conditions make for some of the most interesting and diverse expressions of German wine, with Riesling being the crown jewel. The warmer average temperature yields Rieslings with deep minerality and concentrated stone fruit flavors. Aromas usually feature a headier and effusive quality in comparison to other regions.
