Newly Arrived:

Stellar Salvioni

You’ve heard of iconic Brunello’s like Biondi Santi but Salvioni should also be on your radar. With less than 10 acres or 1/5th of their property planted to grapevines, pampered doesn’t begin to cover the winegrowing philosophy. Grown at over 1,200 feet above sea level, there is a near constant breeze that assists in maintaining acidity and reducing disease pressure.

Majestic Rioja:

CVNE

Looking for absolutely classical Rioja at outstanding pricing? Look for four letters: CVNE. CVNE (or Cune) was founded in 1879 by brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa after Raimundo moved to the town of Haro (also of Lopez de Heredia fame) for his health. They set up the winery partially as a negociant, much like Bordeaux.

Delas Frères:

Regal Rhône

Delas makes some of the most powerful, intense wines in the Northern Rhône at prices that make them one of the superior values in the region. Density and richness are a hallmark—there are no shrinking violets in the lineup. Star Champagne house Louis Roederer purchased Delas in the 90s, bringing much needed renewal to the brand, and has been pushing the quality upwards each year. For whatever reason, the market has yet to catch up to the quality coming out of Delas’ cellar.

France – Chablis

“This venerable 66-hectare Chablis estate, owned by Beaune’s Maison Albert Bichot, boasts enviable holdings—including fully 25 hectares of premier and grand cru land, the fruit of which is harvested by hand—that are complemented by purchased fruit… Cécilia Trimaille—a former assistant vineyard manager at Château Margaux—took the reins here in 2018 and disclaims any intention to radically alter an aesthetic that emphasizes purity and incisiveness, while simultaneously displaying plenty of appetite to make incremental improvement in the vineyards and cellar… I’m looking forward to following Long-Depaquit’s evolution over the years to come.”
