Antonio Galloni 96+ points
“The 2017 Proprietary Red Wine Sage Mountain Vineyard comes across as remarkably primary. Bright red-toned fruit and floral notes give the 2017 striking freshness as well as nuance. Deep and layered on the palate, with superb depth, the 2017 Continuum is easily one of the wines of the year. Even in the early going, it is truly magnificent.”

The Heidsiecks Arriving Wednesday

Case Pricing Ends Tuesday, June 23rd at 6 PM Pacific!

Honeyed and exotic, this is an impactful Champagne that expertly balances grace and ebullience.
Piper-Heidsieck Rare Brut Millesime, Champagne 2006 750ML ($179.95) $169 pre-arrival special
Case-3 Piper-Heidsieck Rare Brut Millesime, Champagne 2006 750ML ($599.95) $485 pre-arrival special (that’s only $161.67/bottle!)
Case-6 Piper-Heidsieck Rare Brut Millesime, Champagne 2006 750ML ($1199.95) $915 pre-arrival special (that’s only $152.50/bottle!)
Wine Spectator 96 points
“Aromas and flavors of toasted brioche and grilled nut enrich the yellow plum, nectarine and grated ginger notes of this rich and creamy Champagne. Finely woven and beautifully integrated, with a firm backbone of mouthwatering acidity providing precise balance for the lush range of flavor. Drink now through 2029. 14,000 cases made, 1,800 cases imported.”
Wine Enthusiast 95 points “Piper-Heidsieck’s luxury cuvée with its beautifully decorated bottle is a well-matured blend of mainly Chardonnay with some Pinot Noir. Great drive and energy comes from the ripe fruit with its hints of almonds and toast. Drink this wine now.”
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 94 points “The 2006 Brut Cuvée Rare is a rich, gourmand rendition of this prestige bottling, unfurling in the glass with a complex bouquet that mingles aromas of yellow orchard fruit, pears and fresh pineapple with nuances of buttered toast, iodine and smoke. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and textural, while remaining fresh and surprisingly tight-knit at the core, concluding with a long and saline finish. There’s sufficient structural tension here to promise more than a decade’s graceful evolution, and although this is nicely balanced, it’s a generous, sun kissed rendition of the Cuvée Rare that reflects the warm vintage. The blend is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir.”

The sister (brother?) winery of Piper-Heidsieck, Charles Heidsieck is known for producing rich and powerful Champagnes. This is a fantastic, if rare, opportunity to explore mature Champagne at its pinnacle.
Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millenaires, Champagne 1995 750ML ($279.95) $219 pre-arrival special, only three bottles available!
William Kelley-Wine Advocate 96 points
“Drunk from a bottle that was disgorged in 2016, the 1995 Blanc des Millenaires continues to show very well, wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of waxy citrus rind, dried pear, walnut oil, warm bread and fresh pastry. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, enveloping and chalky, with a rich and muscular core, lively acids and a long, precise finish. Impeccably balanced, this is a cuvée I have drunk on many occasions and which used to be well-represented in my own cellar, but this is as good a bottle as I have ever encountered. In the plenitude of full-maturity, now is a great time to pop corks.”
Antonio Galloni 95 points “The 1995 Brut Blanc des Millenaires shows just how compelling this often overlooked vintage can be. Layers of lemon, pastry spices, crushed rocks and savory herbs literally jump from the glass in this exquisite, perfumed, beautifully delineated Champagne. The 1995 shows lovely flavor complexity and nuance from its extended time in bottle, yet it also retains plenty of freshness, verve and acidity. This is a great showing from Charles Heidsieck. The 1995 was made before the tenure of the house’s current team, headed by CEO Cécile Bonnefond. It will be very interesting to see what develops at this historic property over the coming years.”
Wine Spectator 95 points “This mouthwatering Champagne is refined and satiny in texture, with a citrusy overtone to the flavors of apricot preserves, toasted hazelnut and brioche, crystallized honey and fleur de sel. Presents a lasting, smoke- and spice-filled finish. Drink now through 2025. 167 cases imported.”
Wine Enthusiast 94 points “EDITIOR’S CHOICE. This 12-year old shows signs of maturity, but retains freshness and liveliness as well. With its yeasty edge, toasty flavors and wonderful white fruits all in balance, it is finely balanced. The acidity is kept in check by the richness of the mature fruit. A very complete Champagne.”

Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, Champagne NV 750ML ($59.95) Displayed price: $44.50, that’s $42.28 at 5% off and $40.05 at 10% off!
William Kelley – Wine Advocate 92+ points
“Based on the 2014 vintage, complemented by fully 40% old reserve wines, the new release of Charles Heidsieck’s NV Brut Réserve was disgorged earlier this year. It’s showing very well, opening up in the glass with notes of green apple, dried white flowers, pear, candied peel and walnuts. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a textural attack and a racier, tighter-knit core than either the 2012- or 2010-base renditions, displaying good concentration and underlying richness. This is a bottling that continues to punch above its weight and which both merits and rewards a few years in the cellar before opening.”

“Aromas of waxy citrus rind, green apples and light reduction introduce the 2017 Bourgogne Blanc, a medium to full-bodied wine and elegantly glossy attack, a succulent core of fruit, and excellent cut and intensity for its level, concluding with a long finish. This is routinely one of the best generic bottlings to be found, and this year’s rendition is no exception.”

“The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé derives from multiple parcels in Soultré and which now sees the same élevage as the domaine’s wines from Puligny. It’s showing well, exhibiting aromas of ripe lemons, beeswax, dried white flowers and blanched almonds, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny-textured palate with more flesh, concentration and length than any of the Mâcon-Verzé bottlings.”

New Arrival Special Feature

Gerard Boulay: Master of Sancerre

“Given the crystalline purity of his Sauvignon Blancs, he has become one of my favorite producers of the central Loire. If you want to know what true Sancerre tastes like, try one of his single-vineyard bottlings. It does not come any better!” – Joel Payne, Vinous

Gerard Boulay makes some of the best white wines in France from his vineyards in Chavignol.  Chavignol is the true beating heart of Sancerre and the host of all the best names in the region (Vatan, the Cotats, Boulay, etc.) and Boulay owns some of best located sites in some of the best vineyards in the town.  From his parcel in La Grande Cote to Monts Damnes to the famed Clos Beaujeu, all of his wines ring with terroir and the unique minerality that’s inherent to Chavignol.

For the prices that Boulay charges, these are some of the most electric and profound whites in all of France.  While low-tier Sancerre always seems overpriced, the top producers in the region make extraordinary wines that seem to be completely undervalued (with the obvious exception of Vatan).  2018 was a fantastic year in the Loire and Boulay made some of his best bottles in his career.

Newly Arrived from Gerard Boulay:

Gerard Boulay Sancerre Chavignol, Loire 2019 750ML ($39.95) $33 special, 36 bottles in stock now
Importer note
“Blend of young vine parcels on kimmeridgian slopes in the village of Chavignol.”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
The average price nationally is $35

Gerard Boulay Sancerre La Cote, Loire 2018 750ML ($74.95) $56.50 special, 18 bottles in stock now
Importer Note
“Boulay’s parcel in “La Grande Côte,” which is partially owned and partically rented, is one of three designated Crus of Chavignol and is reputed for producing wines of incredible precision. Vintage 2010 was the inaugural release. Overall, Gerard Boulay’s “terre blanche” vineyards produce some of the most distinctive and soil-inflected Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire, with a delineation and minerality often reminiscent of a top Chablis. Boulay is certainly among the top examples of the appellation, including Boulay’s neighbors (Cotat Bros., Vatan). These are gorgeous, highly complex wines that are a clear step above “regular” Sancerre, and can age easily for 10-20 years or more. In fact, we have had them all the way back to the 1959 which was magnificent! They confirm Boulay’s place in the top ranks of Loire Valley vignerons. (referred to by the Cotat brothers as La Grande Cote)”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!

Gerard Boulay Sancerre Clos de Beaujeu, Loire 2018 750ML ($69.95) $51.90 special, 13 bottles in stock now
Importer Note
“One of Chavignol’s most historic vineyards, Boulay’s parcel lies within the original Clos of the vineyard, established by the monks of Beaujeu in the Middle Ages. The walls of the Clos are no longer standing as they were originally built from clay and hay, and did not withstand the test of time. Boulay farms a 0.75 hectares plot of 30- to 60-year old vins where the soils are pebbly, lime-rich and strewn with fossils. Along with the 60% gradient for much of the vineyard, the rocky soils make this parcel very difficult to farm. Clos de Beaujeu is the source of some of Boulay’s deepest, most structured wines and savory, spicy examples of Chavignol that are built to last.”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast today!

Gerard Boulay Sancerre Les Monts Damnes, Loire 2018 750ML ($69.95) $51.90 special, 16 bottles in stock now
Importer Note
“Boulay began farming the steeply sloped Mont Damnés vineyard in 1982. His plot has an average vine age of 45 years. Mont Damnés’ reflective soils and south-facing exposition make it one of Chavignol’s warmest sites. Oregon

The Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris, Dundee Hills 2018 750ML ($24.95) $18.50 special
Winery note
“This vintage is highly aromatic, with dense layers of lime, pea shoots, and white strawberry, finishing with a spicy uplift. The texture is round and full. The forepalate is dominated by ripe lychee and passionfruit that hint at sweetness – although the wine is absolutely dry. Flavors of dried sea grass, kiwi, and currants fill out the rich and very long finish. Complex, precise, and substantial, this latest release form Eyrie continues to define the best of Oregon Pinot gris.”

Bergstrom ‘Old Stones’ Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2018 750ML ($44.95) $36 special
No reviews yet for the 2018 vintage. 2017 vintage reviews provided for reference.
Wine Enthusiast 92 points
“EDITOR’S CHOICE. This wine seems to always overdeliver. Here it opens with lovely aromas of white flower, bee pollen and lemon meringue. The plush fruit mingles Key lime and pineapple, showing brisk acidity compiled with refreshing minerality.”
Wine Advocate 92 points “The 2017 Chardonnay Old Stones has fresh scents of Red Delicious apples, quince, crushed shell and stone with notes of dried chamomile, saline and a core of white peaches. It’s light to medium-bodied with a slightly rounded texture, mineral-driven fruit, bright acidity and a long, flavorful finish. A delicate style without sacrificing its fruit.”

Fossil & Fawn Do Nothing Red, Oregon 2019 750ML ($27.95) $21.90 special
Winery note
“Grapes: Pinot gris 48%, Pinot noir 32%, Gewurztraminer 16%, Grüner Veltliner 4%. Appellation: Umpqua Valley and Willamette Valley. Soils: Marine sediment. Irrigation: Nope. Farming: No artificial herbicide / pesticide and non-certified organic. Yeast: Native. Alcohol:12.6%. Notes: Do Nothing is a chillable, fruity ‘red’ wine that is predominantly made with white wine grape varieties. We achieve the light shade of crimson by fermenting all fruit wholecluster carbonically, on stems and skins for one month – gently extracting color, tannin and flavor. After pressing, the juice goes into old French oak barrels where it finishes fermentation over the next five months. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. The aroma is explosively fruity and sweet, while the palate is light, bright and rocky. Best served with a ligh tchill, pizza and pals (socially distanced, of course).”

Restocked for all your funky/spritzy needs!
Art + Science Petillant Naturel Rose, Willamette Valley 2018 750ML ($24.95) $19 special
Winery note
“120 cases, 13.2% Alc. This sparkling rosé was made from Pinot Noir grapes from a small vineyard called Morning Mist where Dan has been consulting in organic and biodynamic farming practices. Morning Mist is in theMcMinnville AVA and sits at 700’ elevation facing directly into the VanDuzer Corridor. It is very likely one of the latest ripening vineyards in all of the Willamette Valley, making it a perfect site for sparkling wine! The fruit was picked relatively early, at lower sugars and higher acidity. Unfiltered, contains lees – pour off slowly or invert to evenly distribute. Bottled via the Pétillant-naturel or  méthode ancestrale, process. This process is  where the product is bottled before it finishes its final fermentation, thus producing a naturally carbonated beverage. Wild fermented, no sulfur added.”

California

Ridge Vineyards East Bench Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley 2018 750ML ($34.95) $29 special
Wine Spectator 92 points
“Appealingly old-school and just rustic enough to highlight the vibrant, briary wild berry flavors, laced with dried sage and licorice notes, building tension toward lively tannins. Drink now through 2028. 6,250 cases made.”

France

Chéreau Carre Vices & Vertus Orgueil Méthode Traditionnelle Brut NV, Loire NV 750ML ($24.95) $19.90 special
Importer note
“As the voice of the new generation at the Chéreau Carré winery in France’s Loire Valley, Louise Chéreau is shaking things up by creating fresh new expressions of traditional grapes and terroirs. In this spirit, she’s releasing a bottle-fermented sparkling wine made with melon de bourgogne, the traditional grape of Muscadet. The fruit comes from 40-year-old vines at the winery’s Chasseloir estate, a prime location on the Maine river on schist soils. This shows off a different side of the muscadet and hints at the immense potential of this region for sparkling wines.”

Pommery Cuvee Louise Brut Nature, Champagne 2004 750ML ($199.95) $149 special
James Suckling 97 points
“A creamy and refined 2004 with a very reserved and tight palate of ultra fine tannins that lend the wine beautiful creaminess and finesse. Subtly floral, offering lightly cooked apples and lemons. Flavorful, yet always hiding behind the fine bubbles. Drink now.”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!

Pommery Cuvee Louise Brut Rose Millesime, Champagne 2004 750ML ($299.95) $219 special
James Suckling 95 points
“This is a new release and shows wonderful finesse and beauty. You know that the moment you see the pale-amber color. It’s medium bodied with freshness and energy and a long, vivid finish. A joy to taste. Drink now.”

The average price is $409

Domaine Chignard Julienas Beauvernay, Beaujolais 2017 750ML ($24.95) $21.90 special
James Suckling 93 points
“A very fragrant and polished expression on the nose with a fresh, strawberry and boysenberry edge, as well as a floral layer that also sits fresh. The palate is long, dense and suavely structured. Impressive concentration here. Drink or hold.”
Josh Raynolds 92 points “Deep vivid magenta. Powerful, mineral-tinged black/blue fruit and floral pastille scents take on a spicy accent and a hint of musky earth with air. Gently sweet and broad on the palate, offering boysenberry, cherry and spicecake flavors and a touch of smokiness. Closes smooth, sappy and quite long, with repeating spiciness and harmonious tannins that add gentle grip.”

Italy

Sometimes good things come in inexpensive packages
Sartarelli Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico, Marche 2018 750ML ($14.95) $11.90 special
Decanter 94 points
“This shows just how good Verdicchio can be at the ‘least elevated’ level. Juicy fresh fruit is joined by herby, nutty, creamy and salty notes. A slightly succulent texture to the palate gives added interest.”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!

Arnaldo-Caprai Collepiano, Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG 2015 750ML ($49.95) $41.90 special
Wine Advocate 93 points
“The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Collepiano benefits from more stringent fruit selection. “We are limited to only the best fruit for this wine, and we changed the way we pick with multiple harvests,” says Marco Caprai. This warm and sunny vintage has shaped a generous and inviting wine that is opulent, bold and rich all at once. This wine offers ample power, yet it’s not as bruising as past vintages I remember. The 2015 vintage flaunts its curvy physique.”

This is the only listing in the USA today!

Nervi Conterno Gattinara DOCG, Piedmont 2015 750ML ($59.95) $49 special
#36 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2019
Wine Spectator 94 points
“Haunting aromas of rose, wild cherry, kirsch, mineral and leather are the hallmarks of this silky, elegant red, which is linear and balanced, extending on the finish with notes of fruit, spice, mineral and tobacco. Very harmonious. Drink now through 2033. 5,000 cases made.”
Wine Advocate 92 points “The weather in Gattinara is often unexpected. For example, in 2017 it rained more in this area than it did in Barolo. This vintage was more tempered, and this 2015 Gattinara comes across as pretty, elegant and soft, with light notes of berries and a pretty ashy signature. This particular expression of Nebbiolo would be a good choice for lamb.”
James Suckling 92 points “A very floral and lilting nose with abundant rose perfume, as well as sweet cherry aromas and sweet, wild herbs. Very sweet florals here in 2015. The palate has precision and finely detailed acidity, as well as a deep-set, flavorful core of strawberries and cherries. Seamless, long and persistent flavor. Great depth, elegance and precision here.”

Spain

Bodegas Ordonez Nisia Verdejo Old Vines, Rueda 2017 750ML ($17.95) $14 special
Jeb Dunnuck 89 points
“Coming from 40- to 80-year-old ungrafted vines of Verdejo, the 2017 Nisia was barrel fermented and spent 7 months on lees before bottling. It has a richer bouquet of golden apple, pineapple, and Meyer lemons as well as a medium-bodied, nicely textured, mouthfilling style on the palate. It has good acidity, plenty of fruit, and a clean finish. It’s rock solid.”

This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!

Bodegas Ilurce Rio Madre Graciano, Rioja DOCa 2017 750ML ($17.95) $12.50 special
James Suckling 92 points
“The vanilla and walnut character is strong here with dark-berry and chocolate undertones. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish. A little tannic, but solid. Drink now.”

Clos Mogador ‘Com Tu’, Montsant 2016 750ML ($59.95) $49 special
Case-6 Clos Mogador ‘Com Tu’, Montsant 2016 750ML ($359.95) $279 special (that’s only $46.50/bottle and the lowest listed price in the USA today!)
Luis Gutierrez-Wine Advocate 94-96 points
“I was so impressed with the debut vintage that I was very happy I could also preview the 2016 Com Tu, which was aging in a 4,000-liter used oak foudre and waiting to be bottled. The Garnacha grapes fermented in that same foudre with indigenous yeasts. It’s still very young and raw and the nose needs to develop, but it has subtle notes of raspberry leaf and wild cherries. The palate is livelier than the 2015, and I think this wine will be better in the long run, with more acidity and freshness. This is one of the names to watch in Montsant. There will be some 5,300 bottles of this.”
VinopolNote: 100% Garnacha from 35-50 year old vines in red clay and limestone soils at 580-600 meters above sea level.
Winery note “In the early part of this century, my son René and I first started experimenting with wine-making in the village of La Figuera (70 unhabitants). We met some winemakers and we vinified around 4.000 kilos of Garnacha vines. In 2002 I discovered the centennial vineyard that belonged to Mr. Joan Anguera (today it’s the Spectacle vineyard) and we started to promote that area so exceptionally good for Garnachas with the collaboration of the winemakers of the area. The idea of the name Com Tu was my son’s, Anderson Barbier Meyer, an artist that together with his mother, came up with this label. And also my second son, Christian, joined us in this project. He is leading Clos Mogador into the path of biodynamic agriculture. The Garnacha grapes from La Figuera produce wines with a unique color range, tender and fluid; with a fresh aroma, of flowers, orange peel, incense, as well as wide range of white fruit, citrus, very fresh. Its high alcohol content together with its extraordinary acidity, helps the wine to age perfectly. In palate it’s soft, with harmony but the taste development goes in crescendo, and it leaves us with an exceptional post-taste. This wine amazes us and fills us with vitality.”

La Fortuna:

New Grapelive Review

La Fortuna makes some of the most striking wines in the DOCG, with bold, rich flavors and lots of complexity.  Until the secret gets out, these wines represent some of the best opportunities in Brunello di Montalcino to drink fantastic wines at below market prices.

Newly Reviewed by Kerry Winslow, Grapelive:

La Fortuna Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany 2018 750ML ($24.95) $21.90 special, 36+ bottles in stock now
Grapelive 91 points
“The 2018 La Fortuna Rosso di Montalcino is ripe, textured and silky smooth with pure Sangiovese character. It goes wonderfully with simple cuisine and shows a good cut of freshness for easy youthful drinking pleasure. The 2018 vintage is less serious than 2016 in the Montalcino area, but still offers plenty of flavor and value to savvy Tuscan fans. The Rosso di Montalcino “Baby Brunello” offerings are going to be fun and there will be plenty of bargains to be found, like this La Fortuna with its polished and elegant styling. Fresh out the box the La Fortuna is smoothly rich with vine-picked tangy blackberry, wild plum, cranberry, strawberry and tart cherry fruits along with blood orange, tobacco leaf, potpourri florals, rosemary, lavender and spiced cedar notes. A richer form comes out with air and food, making it a medium to full bodied Sangiovese that has a lot of charm, especially for the price. This 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello clone) was crafted with traditional care and made for early drinking with grapes coming from vineyard parcels that range from 15 to 25 years on the semi volcanic soils of the region and was fermented in temperature controlled tanks with about a 20 day maceration on the skins to give it that dark burgundy hue in the glass. After fermentation this La Fortuna Rosso di Montalcino is racked mostly to large Slovenian oak casks for six months and aged a further six months in mainly 1 and 2 times filled small French barriques, which explains the luxurious velvety mouth feel, before bottling. This estate goes back a long way with the Zannoni [family] first arriving at “La Fortuna” back in 1907 to work the farmstead and through the generations rose up to finally purchase the property and become a private winery and label with fifth generation Gioberto Zannoni now in charge at this highly regarded Brunello label. I suggest buying the 2013 and 2016 if you can still find them, but don’t overlook these tasty and graceful 2018s either.”

Wine Spectator 95 points
“Fluid and fruity, supported by a matrix of dense tannins, this features a fine texture and structure, offsetting the saturated flavors of cherry, red berry, leather, iron and tar. Stays focused while cruising to a lingering finish. Really youthful, intense and long. Best from 2022 through 2045. 330 cases made, 200 cases imported.”
James Suckling 95 points “Very attractive and intense aromas of ripe black cherries and plums, leading to a palate that has a quite firm tannin core and finishes with a convincing serving of rich, ripe darker plums and berries. Drink or hold.”

James Suckling 93 points
“Aromas of blackberry and cherry with flowers. Smoky. Hot stone. Medium to full body, firm and fresh tannins and a delicious finish. Beautiful now but needs a year or two to soften.”
Wine Spectator 92 points “Starts out with cherry, iron and tobacco flavors, before firming up, with a solid structure. A kernel of fruit holds steady as this red unfolds on the lingering finish. Best from 2022 through 2036. 2,200 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.”

Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2014 750ML ($29.95) $24 special
Winery-cellared release!
Josh Raynolds-Vinous 91 points
“Brilliant red. High-pitched raspberry and rose scents are complemented by hints of anise and allspice. Shows very good energy and depth to the red berry and floral pastille flavors, which are given lift by a spine of juicy acidity. Closes smooth, spicy and very long; fine-grained tannins frame the juicy, appealingly sweet red fruit. This wine delivers outstanding value and shows impressive nerve for a warm vintage.”
Neal Martin-Wine Advocate 90 points “The 2014 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills is a blend of Maresh, Juliard, Weber, Gehrts and Folie Hill vineyards. It has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, touches of blood orange with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin – a mixture here of red and black fruit, meaty in style with a Pommard-like finish that lingers in the mouth. For $25, it’s probably the bargain of the vintage.”

Valle Reale

There are very few wines that are in the same class as Valle Reale’s 2018 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.  Only bottlings from legendary producers like Valentini (2012 – 94+ Vinous, $300+) or Emidio Pepe (2016 – 94 Vinous, $80+) have scored as highly as the 94 points that Ian d’Agata awarded to Valle Reale’s most recent release.  The big difference between those two and Valle Reale? Price. Valle Reale’s 94 point bottling costs just $14.

That’s an incredible savings compared to the big names of Abruzzo and a testament to the incredible work that Valle Reale is doing to vault themselves into the top tier of producers in their region.  Located in a nature preserve, their young estate (founded 2000) has been making waves for over-delivering on the quality front.  We have their 94 point Montepulciano arriving on Tuesday and this looks to be a contender for our wine of 2020.  Stock up while we can get it.

Valle Reale Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2018 750ML ($17.95) $14 special
Ian D’Agata – Vinous 94 points
“Bright red. Red cherry and flowers on the perfumed nose; much more fragrant than the 2017 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Then fresh and juicy, with bright red fruit repeating in the mouth. Finishes long and savory, showcasing notable purity. Outstanding cool-climate Montepulciano of noteworthy refinement. Very, very well done; I’m not sure readers fully realize just how hard it is to obtain a result of this level in a cold-weather environment such as that of Popoli. This success speaks loudly of the capability and talent of owner Leonardo Pinzolo and his Valle Reale technical team.”
