Arterberry Maresh and Tan Fruit
As the third-generation in his family to make wine, Jim crafts Grand Cru-level Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Arterberry Maresh’s prized position in the Dundee Hills. His releases are praised by critics and consumers alike. These are benchmark wines for the region that somehow capture Jim’s easy-going yet seriously-smart-under-the-skin personality.
That dualistic charm is doubled in his experimental side project dubbed ‘Tan Fruit’. Now, you could assume that these side-project wines are mere throwaway gags, but leave it to Jim to release top-scoring and boldly visionary Chardonnay. Wine Advocate gushed over the first releases from 2019, granting the wines top marks for Oregon whites in the vintage, and subsequent releases have received no less attention.
Tan Fruit expertly explores different vineyard sources, winemaking techniques, and picking dates, while mixing barrel and steel, malo- and non-, from the Columbia Valley to Umpqua. It’s like he followed every possible path of a flowchart of Oregon Chardonnay and somehow made each result delicious.
We’re offering these beauties at insider-only pricing now through Friday morning. So, stock up and be amazed for years to come.

Eric Guido-Vinous 97 points “The 2023 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard seduces with a burst of crushed flint stones, dusty sage, nectarine and gingery spice. Its textures are otherworldly, nearly oily yet sleek, with a sour citrus nervousness that excites the palate as opulently ripe apricot settles on the senses. Despite its weight and intensity, this 2023 Chardonnay leaves the palate reeling with tension, salty and lime intense, with a strong mineral resonance that adds lasting crunchiness. Gorgeous today yet balanced for a long evolution.”
Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $30.90, that’s $29.36 at 5% off and $27.81 at 10% off, 36+ bottles in stock now

Arterberry Maresh Old Vines Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $54.50, that’s $51.78 at 5% off and $49.05 at 10% off, 13 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 94 points “The 2022 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Old Vines is remarkably pretty, cascading up from the glass with a vibrant blend of minty herbs and crushed cherries complemented by hints of cola and spice. This has energy to spare, silken in feel with ripe red berry fruits that envelop the senses. It takes on a darker shade toward the close as tactile minerals saturate. A bump of juicy acidity enlivens the finish as sweet tannins tug at the senses and notes of blood orange slowly fade. The 2022 is like a well-muscled dancer. It’s already so likable that many collectors may not have the patience to watch it fully mature. The Dundee Hills Old Vines is sourced from vines that average 41 years old, all Pommard clones, sourced from 75% Maresh and 25% Weber Vineyard.”

Eric Guido-Vinous 95 points “The 2023 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Old Vines blossoms in the glass, where balsamic-tinged black cherries mingle with dried roses, nuances of gravel dust and a hint of clove. This wine is seamless and elegant, silken in texture, with a solid core of minerals to balance citrus-infused wild berry fruits that slowly saturate the palate. It tapers off chewy and extremely long, leaving the palate watering for more, all framed by regal tannins.”
Arterberry Maresh Maresh Vineyard Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $59, that’s $56.05 at 5% off and $53.10 at 10% off, 25 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 96 points “The 2023 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard is impossible to ignore, offering an array of crushed cherries and minty herbs, along with a hint of clove and stone dust that tempt the senses. Elegance defines the feel, as velvety textures are supported by cool-toned acidity while red and blue fruits swirl across the palate, leaving a crunchy mineral tinge toward the close. A web of fine-grained tannins adds structure and poise as the 2023 finishes with outstanding length and energy, leaving inner rose tones and a pleasantly bitter twang to linger. Fabulous.”

Arterberry Maresh Weber Vineyard Pinot Noir, Dundee Hills 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $64.50, that’s $61.28 at 5% off and $58.05 at 10% off, 29 bottles in stock now
Eric Guido-Vinous 94 points “The 2022 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard bursts from the glass without even a swirl, displaying an exuberant bouquet of black cherry sauce, rum cake, autumnal spice and hints of balsam herbs. This is a beast, succulent and fleshy in feel yet elegant to the core, with depths of ripe red berry fruits that drench the palate in primary concentration. Minty herbs mix with steeped plums through the dramatically long finale, leaving a subtle collection of grippy tannins to linger on. There’s so much depth and power under the hood here. Although the 2022 has a more immediate feel, it also has a deep complexity that keeps me coming back.”

Soft textures are round and supple, with a savory core of minty red and blue fruits underscored by zesty acidity and salty minerals. Sweet tannins frame the finish without slowing its momentum. Tart cranberry tones linger, forcing the mouth to water as nuances of lavender fade.”

Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 96 points “The 2022 Chardonnay Anela is singular and savory. Candied peaches and manuka honey mingle with dried sage, roasted hazelnuts and struck flint on the nose, and it teases you with slowly blossoming, spicy undertones. The palate is luxurious and satiny with kaleidoscopic, mouth-coating flavors, and its modest 30% new French oak is already well integrated. It has a foil of laser-like acidity, and its juiciness and hauntingly long finish draw you back to the glass again and again.”

James Suckling 96 points “Another white made with partially botrytized grapes. Firmly structured, yet seamlessly integrated, this needs time to fully reveal its layers. Lush and complex, yet delicately subtle and precise at the same time, offering aromas of passion fruit and pink guava, layered with hints of seashells and white berries, while a flinty edge adds depth. James Suckling 98 points “Tight and reserved, showcasing the depth of 55-year-old chardonnay vines from Eyrie Vineyard, one of the oldest existing plantings in Willamette, dating back to 1968. A mineral-driven, umami-rich profile with wet leaves, subtle quince, sesame seeds and hints of tangerines. Structured and compact, with a phenolic tension and a savory, earthy, clay-like character. There’s a lot going on in this wine. It is pure, full and very long. Needs time to fully unfold. Whole-cluster pressed. Better from 2027.”

Erin Brooks-Wine Advocate 95 points “The 2022 Chardonnay Maresh Vineyard comes from a block of Dijon clone vines planted in 1991 in the Dundee Hills on a steep, south-facing slope at 675 feet of elevation. Barrel fermented and matured for 10 months in 15% new French oak, plus four months in stainless steel, it’s reminiscent of Chablis and boasts exceptionally pure aromas. It opens with flint and petrichor before blossoming to apricot, elderflower liqueur, lime peel and hazelnuts. The palate is vibrant and silky with understated layers of creamy, peachy fruit, and its linear acidity and flinty tones come together for a shimmery finish.
