Hundred Suns:
 
Both Renée Saint-Amour and Grant Coulter were raised to appreciate Oregon wines, despite hailing from out of state. Their mutual interest and love of adventure brought them to the Valley. This wife-and-husband team launched Hundred Suns as a boutique winery and eventually scrapped together enough cash to purchase Breaker Vineyard, a fifty-year-old site in the Eola-Amity Hills and now home to them, their kids, and their winery.
 
They do everything by hand, from crafting their wines (Grant was the winemaker at Beaux Freres and Flâneur), distributing in town, and even their stunning label-design. Their wines drink like a love letter to the Willamette Valley.

Two Greats of the Willamette Valley
 
The Eyrie Vineyards:
 
The Eyrie Vineyards is the original winery of the Dundee Hills. Founded by David Lett in 1965. David selected his location after careful consideration, wanting to prove that cool-climate European varieties could thrive in the United States. He planted the first Pinot Noir vines in the Willamette Valley, a prophetic selection.
 
In 2005, his soft-spoken yet brilliant son, Jason Lett, took over as winemaker and vineyard manager. He explored new varieties, such as Trousseau, without compromising on quality. The winery produces about the same volume it always has, around 9,000 cases annually, keeping the focus on craft and quality.

Their dedication is palpable in the resulting wines. The cuvées showcase their microscopic understanding of the potential in the Willamette Valley and their patient and thoughtful approach to winemaking. The minerality coaxed from the whites is jaw-dropping. The complexity and depth of the reds profound. The precision in the sparkling wines is only rivaled by Champagne.
