We offer twelve in-stock Loire Valley red wine options on sale now, including:
Gamay:
Domaine Robert Serol Côte Roannaise Les Millerands 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $31.90, that’s $30.31 at 5% off and $28.71 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
No reviews for the 2021 vintage. 2020 review provided for reference.
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 92 points “From 70- to 110-year-old vines planted in high density (10,000 vines per hectare) on granite in an east-facing site at 550 meters in altitude, the 2020 Côte Roannaise Les Millerands is based on millerandage berries and was vinified with 10% whole clusters in concrete. The nose is beautifully fragrant and floral, with cardamom notes seasoning the super ripe and fleshy dark fruits such as elderberries, blueberries and stewed blackcurrant. Silky, fresh and elegant, this is a very intense, full-bodied, rich but pure and refreshing as well as persistently structured Gamay with a long and intense finish. The warmth of the vintage is present even in this late-ripening vineyard, but it doesn’t take over the vineyard character. This is an excellent Gamay. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at ProWein in Düsseldorf in May 2022.”
Domaine Robert Serol Côte Roannaise Perdrizière 2021 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 6 bottles in stock now
No reviews for the 2021 vintage. 2020 review provided for reference.
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 93 points “From red iron and manganese-rich granite soils and vinified in 60-hectoliter oak vats, the 2020 Côte Roannaise Perdrizière offers a pure, fresh and minerally spicy, very elegant bouquet of perfectly ripe dark and brighter fruits, even cherries but also with these characteristic floral notes. On the palate, this is a generous, very energetic, tensioned and salty Gamay with a long and tight but stimulating finish. Still young, this is a Roannaise to keep for at least three or four years. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at ProWein in Düsseldorf in May 2022.”
Cabernet Franc:

Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Granges 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $21.50, that’s $20.43 at 5% off and $19.35 at 10% off, 35 bottles in stock now
Rebecca Gibb MW-Vinous 89 points “The 2023 Les Granges is not complicated but well made, offering pleasure and layers of flavor. This is a little reductive in its youth, hiding the primary fruit at this time, but there’s also a smoky note here with grilled padrón peppers. Despite modest alcohol levels, there’s sufficient richness with bright line and length. (Drink between 2025-2028).”
Domaine des Closiers Saumur-Champigny ‘Les Closiers’ 2022 750ml Displayed Price: $31.90, that’s $30.31 at 5% off and $28.71 at 10% off, 10 bottles in stock now
Yohan Castaing-Wine Advocate 90 points “The 2022 Domaine des Closiers reveals a delicate, clean bouquet of dark wild berries, spices, violet and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, enrobing and layered, it’s perfectly balanced with powdery tannins and a long, fresh finish. This wine is like the essence of Saumur-Champigny.”
This is the lowest listed price on the West Coast!
Domaine des Closiers Saumur-Champigny ‘Les Coudraies’ 2020 750ml Displayed Price: $41.90, that’s $39.81 at 5% off and $37.71 at 10% off, 30 bottles in stock now
John Gilman-A View From the Cellar 95 points “The Saumur-Champigny “les Coudraies” is one of the estate’s single vineyard wines, made from a selection of the best parcels in this hillside vineyard. The wine is aged in mostly older casks for one year prior to bottling. The 2020 les Coudraies comes in at fourteen percent octane and offers up a simply gorgeous bouquet of red and black cherries, cigar wrapper, a touch of tree bark, a complex base of soil tones, juniper berry, a touch of cedar and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very elegant in profile, with a rock solid core of fruit, firm, buried tannins, excellent focus and grip and a long, complex and very, very promising finish. This is a great bottle of Saumur-Champigny in the making!”

Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Rouge 2019 750ml Displayed Price: $39, that’s $37.05 at 5% off and $35.10 at 10% off, 11 bottles in stock now
Stephan Reinhardt-Wine Advocate 91 points “From three parcels with vines planted between 1955 and 1957 on silt and sand topsoil covering softer limestone bedrock. the 2019 Saumur Rouge is pure Cabernet Franc naturally fermented in tank for six months. The 2019 opens with a pure and refreshing as well as spicy/floral nose with dark fruit and fresh lemon aromas as well as stony notes and a nice reduction. Wonderfully untamed. On the palate, this is a medium-bodied, fresh and silky-textured Saumur with a stimulating salty, round and fruity finish. At this young age, charm is not its greatest talent, but with bottle age, this will be a terrific Saumur rouge for many dishes and opportunities. I like this tight and traditional, straightforward style that might be a bit unpleasant at this early stage but will reward those with patience. 13.5% alcohol”

Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Les Galuches 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $21.90, that’s $20.81 at 5% off and $19.71 at 10% off, 27 bottles in stock now
VOS Selections Importer Note “The Les Galuches vineyard is an ancient river bed of the Loire; the name being derived from the large presence of gravel. According to the records from the era, vines were already well established in this sector by the 1830s. The Cabernet Franc ripens very well in the domaine’s 10 hectare holding of this sand and gravel vineyard. Les Galuches is always among the first sites to be picked because the soil warms up quickly and drains very well. The wine rests for 6 months in 500 litre double-barriques. Always very aromatic, the Les Galuches bottling is noted for its bouquet of violets, followed by lush and supple dark berry/cherry fruit. Les Galuches vineyard has been organically farmed since 2016.”

Olga Raffault Chinon La Fraîch 2024 750ml Displayed Price: $24, that’s $22.80 at 5% off and $21.60 at 10% off, 23 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “100% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from very young vines in sandy, flat parcels near the winery not far from the the Vienne River. The farming is certified-organic and the harvest is manual. The berries are destemmed but not crushed and fermented with native yeasts in tank with a maceration of about 15 days. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months before bottling. This vin de soif has a pretty and playful label that complements its style perfectly.”
Malbec:

Domaine de la Pepiere ‘La Pepie’ Côt, IGP Val de Loire 2023 750ml Displayed Price: $18, that’s $17.10 at 5% off and $16.20 at 10% off, 24 bottles in stock now
Importer Note “100% Côt. Only 3 of Pépière’s 43 certifed-biodynamic hectares of vines are planted to black grapes: Côt, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (known locally as Breton). They are in the 10-hectare “home” vineyard in Clisson, known best for the Muscadet from its granite soils de Bourgogne but where a gentle slope with a bit of clay and a southwestern exposure suit the black varieties. The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently crushed, with only the free-run juice used for the wine. It is fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by 5-6 months of aging in stainless steel tanks. The wine is classified as a Vin de Pays de la Loire, as there is no allowance for red wine in the Muscadet AOC.”
